I don't usually like to start topics but I guess there is a first for everything. Anyways, I felt that this section wouldn't be complete without a figure thread in here. sweat.gif

Do post anything remotely related to action figures such as Mcfarlane, Neca etc etc.

From pics of your collections to trades, hauls, or even the latest news/gossips/rumours and not to mention, spyshots/customs/mods/mutilated/sexually assaulted figures. tongue.gif

Cheers all.

great to hear tat. tongue.gif

Is it just me, or is there something terribly wrong with this thread? Obviously, I don't see the connection of merging a McF Club thread with a thread that is 'looking' for a McF figure as the first post. whistling.gif

Somebody reported it and some mod merged it. If there is sufficient demand for another 'looking' thread, then you could go ahead and open one tongue.gif

lol, I wonder whose bright idea was it? Firstly, I did not start a 'looking' thread but a 'Fan Club' thread. So, why was it merged? doh.gif whistling.gif

Obviously, you can't have a fan club thread starting with a first post 'looking' for something. At least this thread starter should edit his/her first post to make it more like a 'Fan Club' thread. That is all I ask. whistling.gif

actually i am slowing down on mcfarlane a lot... cant afford any longer because every month sure got new series and as usual shops in kl all put super price and they sell in complete series. if not they will markup super price on 1 particular figure in that series because they know that figure is the hottest.

that really stopping me buying from mcfarlane figures these days. still prefer buy from ebay smile.gif

actually i am slowing down on mcfarlane a lot... cant afford any longer because every month sure got new series and as usual shops in kl all put super price and they sell in complete series. if not they will markup super price on 1 particular figure in that series because they know that figure is the hottest.

that really stopping me buying from mcfarlane figures these days. still prefer buy from ebay smile.gif
*
Oh, ic. Hehe, you don't have to buy every series that McF produce. Just stick to a line that you really like only. wink.gif

Well, that's business for you.

hi there, I'm currently interested in collecting McFarlane figures but i know nothing about it. Could anyone help me in answering the following questions.

1. what's the difference between MIB BIB MISB MOSC MOC??
2. what's the difference between tri card and US card?
3. Is there anything else I need to know?

Anyway, I'm planning to get Spawn Series 25: Spawn hsi.005 and Spawn Series 25: Spawn i.095. What's the price for both of this model.

Thanks in advance

1.
MIB= Mint in Box.
BIB= Back in Box.
MISB= Mint in Sealed Box.
MOSC= Mint on Sealed Card.
MOC= Mint on Card.

Generally, TF fans define MIB as a toy that has been taken out and replaced back into the box in mint condition while MISB is totally sealed and never opened before.

As for card, once it is opened and can't be resealed back. Therefore it is safe to say that MOSC= MOC.

2. One thing is the price. The 2nd is the language. Thirdly, US carded generally has better paint job since they're the first batch of figures to be released. Fourthly, there maybe physical variants, such as colour, head sculpt, accessories etc etc.

3. You can never stop learning about figures. You try asking, and I'll try my best to answer you. wink.gif

The Hellspawn can be obtained for about RM70 for a Tri but the i.095 will be at least RM80 and above for a Tri and depending on condition as it is quite sought after.

Technically carded figures are figures that have a paper/cardboard back as can be seen in the earlier McFarlnae figures.

Nowadays, most companies tend to just have a card insert sealed in a plastic clamshell but it is still referred to as carded figures. The reason being, it won't deform as easily as cardboard and therefore easier to store.

It varies. If you buy a set, it will usually be RM50 for one 6" figure. As for 12", it used to be RM150 but currently it is around RM120.

lol, i work part time plus trade online to support my hobby. biggrin.gif

I think the same way as you do too. But some figures are super rare and expensive, so collectors will only display it in the box since they can't bring themselves to open it. tongue.gif

Some ppl do get kicks out of looking at them in mint condition or they simply have no place to display and is scared that it might turn yellowish (translucent figures) or collect dust.

I actually have a friend who absolutely has not opened one of his TF reissue from the first one till now (and believe me, it's C8 & above for each and every box). If he wants to open it, he'll buy an extra one like the recent Galvatron reissue. That's what I call rich. sweat.gif

But the worst lot of them all, has to be those scalpers. vmad.gif

if you buy from ebay or online stores, will the shipping charges make the figures more expensive then the local price?

say here, RM50 per figure, if buy online roughly how much?

depends on the weight of the figure, and also shipping method. one average mcfarlane figure weighs about 1.5 pounds. so u need to calculate that with the postal service. i mostly buy from US, so u can check www.usps.com for calculations. for normal airmail, shipping is usually up to US$20 for a figure. a lot of factors u have to consider... such as seller fees etc

oppsss doh.gif

then better stick to buying local, just the range of available figures are too limited, some figures only last for a short while then no more stock.. cry.gif

yup... u need to source overseas if u want to get certain items. some are available exclusively, and are not exported worldwide.

do you go to Singapore for your collection? my younger sis is studying there, maybe in Singapore there are more choices?

and the 20USD per figure is just the shipping fee? or shipping fee+the figure?

if 20USD just for the shipping fee, then it will be more expensive than the figure itself... sweat.gif

it's quite a highly sought after figure... worth quite a bit in the market, so i suggest u just keep it

Actually, I had three Predator action figures. One was the Elder Predator, while the other two were the Celtic Predators.

I bought one Celtic Predator figure myself, and a friend gave me another (exactly the same) for a birthday present. I've recently auctioned off one of my Celtic Predators for around RM70 (a loss, I know). As for the Elder Predator, I *gave* it to my 5-year-old nephew since he was bugging me about it. I believe he's dismantled it already as I saw a familiar-looking skull lying on the couch the last time I visited him. doh.gif

I still have one Celtic Predator left. Maybe I'll stick to your advice and just keep it for sentimental reasons. blush.gif

me!! The first series was great but the second was a let down. Even though it is more detailed that the first one, they've shrunk in size.

Plus they look more 'lizardish' than a dragon. The box set is out already I heard. biggrin.gif

'sighs' I remember when I needed the limited 'SHE SPAWN' from the Alternate Realities series to complete the collection. Already had some of the rest and had to buy a full set from the shop in order to obtain the 'SHE SPAWn' at a reasonable price. Luckily was able to sell off the extras.

(P.S. My guess is that there will be only 6 series of these dragons cause there are only 6 type of dragons and each dragon will become the deluxe figure for one series so there will be 2 more to go after series 4 [I hope so cause I'm running out of space to put them] tongue.gif)

just completed my series 2 with the Eternal Clan Deluxe Figure... sweat.gif

so, based on your assumption, there will be a total of 36 Dragons....Woootttt drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif

where did you get your Dragons? online? or local toys shop? For series 3, the Sorcerers Clan Deluxe havent arrived yet right?

The Komodo Clan Dragon of series 4 is the BEST looking figure among all the dragons offering.

Either from Ultimate Toys or ShiokToys.

I would be getting my series 3 from ShiokToys personally as the owner has great PR and prices are good. thumbup.gif

Can you guys suggest any good idea of displaying 36 dragons ? Maybe custom make a 6x6 block glass display case ? I don't really like the open bookshelf because it collect a lot of dust and need constant cleaning. It is inhumane to keep these beautiful creatures in their plastic clam shell prison as they are meant to be shown to the world laugh.gif

6x6 block of glass? that would be very expensive.... sweat.gif

My mother once saw this type of cabinet on sale during an Indonesian furniture exhibition...going for RM1000+ She wanted to buy it for me, but I told her RM1000 can get like 20 individual figures...haha....

BTW, the latest Dragon, the sorcerer's orb cannot be removed sad.gif
I hate the cheap looking orb, but i am afraid that removing it by force will damage the staff. sad.gif

yeah, it was glowing.... icon_idea.gif

because of the relection of my dining room light....it is actually a red-coloured glass ball (marble-type).....looks 10x better than the transparent rubber ball.... doh.gif

The Sorcerer's staff, I have tried to remove the purple transparent rubber ball, very hard to remove without using a plier, so i keep it in its original state for now.

after i am bored with it, i will change it to a marble... thumbup.gif

Mind if I ask where you get the marble (or if you have any extra brows.gif ) ? I replaced mine with those silver coated marbles. Although it look way better, I'm not quite satisfy with it since it's not totally translucent.

lol, good call there with the red marble. Looks good.

I can't remember the exact price as I obtained it about 2 years back. It was about RM300 or slightly more. That's cos the lights alone cost RM50, which comes in a pair.

Yes, the joint for the staff was badly designed IMHO. It can't bear the weight of the upper part. I have now super glued mine after it has dropped numerous times.

It stays on perfect now. icon_rolleyes.gif

all those more popular fig are usually those that looks good. series 19 lotus is one of them. Those popular fig are usually very very overprice and very hard to get. Personally, i think u should get only the figs u like and not the fig that's popular

oh not again...

the 12" AvP Stealth Scar Predator is NOT an exclusive... it's a normal retail figure. but due to the exclusivity of the three previous mcfarlane stealth predators, it's a popular assumption that this one is also an exclusive...

please spread the word that it is not, because it is precisely due to the false assumption that prices are being inflated. retail should actually be 99.90 but we're instead seeing RM150 onwards, up to a record amount of RM300 somewhere...

HT pred is about Rm580, Stealth Scar is about RM150.

HT's one is more articulated but IMHO there's something wrong with the proportion of its head and body in general. All in all, I prefer the McF's sculpt better albeit the limited articulation. But you can't argue with the value for money price if you get a McF Scar. biggrin.gif

sweet, how much and where you got if from? Stealth or normal 12"? lol, HT are overpriced IMHO. Look at the upcoming ED 209, in excess of 200+USD.

Yup, I have that Komodo from Series 2. My initial reaction from the shots was like WTF?! That isn't what a dragon supposed to look like, it must have wings and crawl on all four legs.

After I opened mine though, I have to come like it and saw the creative genious & talent in the sculpting dept of TMP. biggrin.gif

BTW, are you going to keep your stealth predator MIB?

Get it Vince... eventhough it is not as impressive as the others but it's still uniquely beautiful in its own way. The satisfactory feeling (not to mention the price value even if you don't want to sell them) that you'll get from getting a whole set is a lot more than you'll get from obtaining just 1 or 2 that you like wink.gif . By the way....there are still 18 more to go tongue.gif .

Yup, keeping my Stealth MISB at the moment.

lol, of course there is no paint application, it is meant to be in 'stealth mode' after all bro. I have no idea to display it, but I would think placing it in front of a light source would make it look good.

Still haven't gotten Grid Alien yet as I'm waiting for mine to arrive in Shiok, 99.90 only. wink.gif

Classic Simpsons, as only McFarlane can do it! Homer and Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, Santa's Little Helper and Snowball II recreate the classic episode-opening couch gag. Create your own couch gag by rearranging the magnetic figures, which can be positioned in a variety of poses and configurations. Comes with Simpson-themed accessories including a Duff beer can and Porko Bits.

interested in this only:

SEPTEMBER 2006

12-inch Spawn (Issue 7 Cover Art)
12-inch Mandarin Spawn

not going to miss out again. laugh.gif

BTW, got this pic from sgcollect forum

My regret (Mandarin 12 inch), as well as the comparison in size of Hot toys/Mcfarlane Predator.

But there are no harleys whatsoever in the Spawn line. shocking.gif

My best bet is that he was refering to the Nitro Riders Series.

I got my komodo clan boxed set but I was disappointed by the paintwork which seem less detailed than the previous series. Also the size of the komodo is pretty small for a boxed set dragon sad.gif

well, it's about the size of the other clamshell dragons, but it doesn't stand out when put together with the series 1 and 2 dragons. I'm going to try my hand on repainting it this weekend, including the female human figure. But the story is quite interesting tho.. smile.gif

Thanks for the feedback .... I'll be going to view it this weekend ... I think the boxset was the main attraction as .. well ... it's different .. with a dragon pearched on a tree blush.gif

Speaking of which ... after Series 5, I hope to see another designs of Dragons as the names are all different already ... smile.gif

well, it's about the size of the other clamshell dragons, but it doesn't stand out when put together with the series 1 and 2 dragons. I'm going to try my hand on repainting it this weekend, including the female human figure. But the story is quite interesting tho.. smile.gif

how much is the boxset? i have seen some rather bad comments on the boxset..is it really so bad that we need to repaint it? i got no painting skills then die loh? cry.gif

If you look a the packaging on the clamshell, if it's only in English, then it US carded.

For us, the packaging comes with 3 languages printed on the clamshell, that is Tri-carded.

Mine just CAN'T FREAKING BEND!! There are holes on the tree which means it is bendable, but I left it like that since I don't want to risk cracking it, which ever way it would be sad.gif ...but I'll definitely paint that dragon and the lady!! vmad.gif
The right wing is abit bent since I think it's a case of being cooped up in the box for too long...think I can use hot water to straighten it....

what holes? cant you tell from the material used whether the tree is bendable or not? i mean is it like the bendable tails of those dragons? or hard rubber?

be sure to show us the before/after pics when you finished painting it... rclxms.gif

Yup, like the tails of all the dragons, which you will see have three holes. Holes means there are bendable wires placed in that part of the figure...I have a cobra replica from Petrosains shop which bends in the same way, and it has holes of three on some parts of the body.
paint? yeah I'll be getting some acrylic paint soon...but then again I'll most probably only touch up on parts of the dragon which look messy.. smile.gif

the eternal dragon was also painted rather carelessly...still thinking of whether to get it or not unsure.gif

I'll probably be getting the eternal and sorcerer...the berserker and water don't really look like the dragons I like hehe... tongue.gif the fire clan dragon looks like a prehistoric bird..

I'll be snatching up my berserker boxed set series 1 this weekend. I'm still searching for a fire clan series 1 dragon, and also the komodo series 2. Missed out these dragons because I just started my collection... sad.gif

Hot water worked for my eternal clan s2 (the wings were bent), but didn't quite work with the komodo, so now the wings are back to being droopy. thank goodness my dragon didn't have the leaning problem. will try it again tomorrow... doh.gif

Yup, that's the price ... XL was selling the Fire as an individual piece, and another ... sorcerer .. I think ... . Only both was available as individual.

I didn't get a chance to see the boxset there .. saw it at LowYatt ... as XL's stock was all sold out .. as I was told ... sad.gif

I bought the full set for RM340, preordered.
RM46x5 + RM110

But the size of the dragons are smaller than the previous series sad.gif
They are not going to look nice with the other series.

And the paint quality is lousy compared to the prototype. mad.gif

yup, that is what everyone is complaining right now. Looks like crap, with the scale all off relative to the previous series.

Sweet collection dude.

My fav among all would be the Series 3 sorcerer clan box set. It is a must have IMHO and you should get it.

Btw, those plastic bases would look better if you sanded off the jagged edges to make it look more rounded IMHO.

Modified the thread's title to appeal to more figure collectors.

Anyways, if you have not seen it, here it a sneak pic of the upcoming Lost figure in packaging. OMFG, it looks so good.

A must have series for Lost fans.

I replaced the komodo's plastic chain with a metal one. part of the chain is glued to the chick's hand which i used a hot needle to make a slight depression. at least it looks slightly better now. i 'm worried all the prototype chains in the next series will be all plastics in the final product... rclxub.gif

Just got my sorcerer boxset today, and yeah it really rocks! the paintwork for the series 4 dragons should exemplify this one. I painted the orb dark blue with a Pantone marker you can buy in the artshops in petaling street. Ii got mine from nanyang arts. I also repainted the orb stick and used hot water to straighten out the wings. Other than that the figure looks just great, unlike the poor komodo boxset.. sad.gif

What do you mean by different scale?
As in size compared to the previous series?
Or as in the scales of the dragons?

Anyhow, Series 4 was a big disappointment to me, and have decided against continuing.
Don't like all those human appearences on the dragons anyway. And the Fire Clan boxset, that is dumb.

haha sweat.gif

scale as in 1/6th scale, 1/18 scale, 1/48 scale, 1/144 scale etc...

series 5 seems to be a bunch of much larger dragons(just look at the comparison between the viking ship and the water dragon) ofcourse size wise they are still 6 inches.

not a huge disappointment, i still like the sculpt, just that it will be a little weird to display all of them together.

Hopefully it is bigger than Series 4.

IMHO, TMP is focusing more on diorama in Series 5.

They are used to represent an object's dimensions which are much smaller or bigger than the original.

Eg. 1:2 scale model

My original model would be 2cm long while the smaller scale would be half its length, i.e 1cm. biggrin.gif

So for a car, the original model would be the real car?
And in the case for dragon models, it would be the assumed size relative to the size of the human models?

The original model can be a real car, jet or whatever for that matter.

In reality, dragons do not exist, therefore there is no relation of its size to a human.

You can make it as small as your thumb or as big as a country and still call it a dragon. tongue.gif

Hi there prazole,

Depending on the type of plastic they use, you might or might not risk ruining the wings. As far as I know, there are two types of plastics they use on the dragons. Transparent hard plastics like those on that sorcerer or the series 1 komodo are easier to reshape and easily readjustable at high heat (they soften and harden in a short time), while the soft bendable plastics like the wings of the komodo series 4 are less resistant and so might lose its firmness after being exposed to high heat. I learnt this the hard way coz i gave hot water treatment to my komodo and now its wings have gone droopy. I noticed the dragons from the earlier series were made from more heat resistant plastics than the last series, presumably they were trying to cut cost on production sad.gif . Just in case you have droopy wing problem with the komodo boxset dragon, do not attempt to hot water treat it.

To straighten the wings, just heat the water in a saucepan or pot until close to boiling point, then just soak the part you want to readjust. the wings will become soft and floppy when you soak it in, and using a towel, just hold the posture until it cools and hardens. Hope this helps wink.gif .

Guys, I might want to sell my Mcfarlane Neo and Agent Smith from Matrix Revolution. That's the one that connects together to reenect the final fight scene.

Only used as a display in a case. I still have the box with me.

Any idea how much I can sell it for?

hi,
i juz want to know what's the difference between the international card and US card.
How come the US card is more expensive and worth more?
Isn't both made in China?

Another thing, does anyone have any idea on how to keep the box from turning yellowish?
I have spawn figure that i opened and the plastic holding the figure( the plastic shaped like the figure and to put the guns n stuff) has turned yellowish but the main cover is still fine. How did that happen? icon_rolleyes.gif

on my opinion, i think the US card and INTER card was the same, just some dealer got their stock from diferent supplier which with a US card, and convince their stock was the "better"... correct me if i wrong.

Yeah....I crap in my pants when I saw those. Now saving up money for Series 5. Kinda felt dissapointed (and relieved at the same time) that Series 6 has only 5 dragons.

(P.S. BTW....Anyone here got Series 5 yet ?)
(P.P.S Fossil Dragon looks very Ghost Rider-ish)

McFarlane's Dragons Series 6 should already be here cause the release date is July 2007. Wonder what's keeping it from getting here hmm.gif. A lot of shops don't do McFarlane's anymore. If things keeps up I might resort to ordering them online....sigh sad.gif.

Twisted xMas looks wicked. It's a must get. thumbup.gif

Crazy two days with early month hauls. Also in this month's haul is Military Series 5 which I am too lazy to run down to my car and get them.

My very first HT. Damn, it was hard snapping all the limbs together and putting the net suit on. It was also hard pushing in the ankle guards.

I was too scared to make any movements that are too hard or drastic for fear of breaking or tearing something.

Those who have finished assembling it should know too well what I mean. But the final outcome is mind blowingly pure orgasmic awesomeness.

I got the mr. potato heads from Jusco actually. Not in the pic is Spider Spud and Opti Mash.

Hi ya, is the 1st Kerberos Red Spectacle from Medicom? I just got that for RM470 last month.

The 2nd Kerberos is it from Takara coz looks skinny like CYGirls, just a guess...

The 3rd one is it from Dragon or HotToys, does yours come with Light Vision? Mine's the big box one no lights... sad.gif

There's also a Jin-Roh from Medicom and an older Kerberos (or 2) from Medicom which are extremely hard to find and expensive.

Also there's 2 Kerberos Kubrick from Medicom 1 is Jin-Roh & 1 is Kerberos.

So are you going to get those APPLESEED figures, looks matching with the Kerberos you have there. I hope they release a figure for the upcoming KILLZONE 2 HELLGHAST soldiers too!

Yup, bingo. My one and only RAH.

Does yours have any quality issue? Mine was like crap to be frank. There glue dribble on the front chestplate, backpacks falling off, and loose parts here and there. I was like WTF with the quality since it is not a cheap figure.

Bingo, it's from Takara Midori Washio. There's a matt black variant which just arrived a few weeks back.

The 3rd one is actually from Takara that is loosely based on the Jin Roh anime. The Dragon version is totally different.

Yup, saw those old skool Kerberos figures but not too my liking since it's more toylike.

For the Appleseed, I am thinking of Briareos only atm. How about you bro?

Big fan of Killzone but IMHO, the Helghast are just watered down versions of Kerberos. tongue.gif

Not sure since I didn't plan on opeing the Red Spec yet (no display place...)

The Takara Jin-Roh looks nice, mind telling me the full name? How much is the market price?

Actually the Medicom Jin-Roh looks cool. Plus you get the characters face. If you search for pics for this particular figure you can find some very good shots. Yea the old skool kerberos looks abit silly coz it's using old type body. But Jin-Roh is using modern body.

Oh yea and how did you set up the black photo shoot background? I'm thinking of setting up a white one.

lol, for eveything else, there's always Visa. wink.gif

There isn't a HT version of Kerberos bro. sweat.gif

My latest acquisition today. Nice figure but the price tag of this fella is not justifiable.

The only redemption is the awesome cape which has hidden wires inside to provide superb articulation. biggrin.gif

My latest acquisition today. Nice figure but the price tag of this fella is not justifiable.

The only redemption is the awesome cape which has hidden wires inside to provide superb articulation. biggrin.gif

I was refering to purely body comparison of HT & TAKARA. Is the spawn a medicom?

Well, all my HT figures are non human characters therefore I wouldn't know the comparison of a HT human body with a Medi human body.

Bingo, that's a Medi Spawn. biggrin.gif

Nice, now you'll have to get the new Kratos. thumbup.gif

Anyways, an old haul from last month. Just took the pics tonight as I was bored. tongue.gif

Awesome awesome feat of engineering IMHO. Each finger is highly articulated, even the damn toes are articulated individually. Pistons move corresponding to the movement of joints.

The definitive Endo, period.

Nope, the 12" was released quite some time ago. It's the Krates Armour version I was referring to. wink.gif
