I got my komodo clan boxed set but I was disappointed by the paintwork which seem less detailed than the previous series. Also the size of the komodo is pretty small for a boxed set dragon sad.gif

Oh ?? I haven't seen the entire range yet .... but will be going down to view it as it's already in ....

How small is it ??

That means they can't be posed together ...  sad.gif

well, it's about the size of the other clamshell dragons, but it doesn't stand out when put together with the series 1 and 2 dragons. I'm going to try my hand on repainting it this weekend, including the female human figure. But the story is quite interesting tho.. smile.gif

No, not going to end ... bcos Todd McF has already mentioned in the forum boards. He'll be doing more of it in the forseeable future.  biggrin.gif

forseeable too that the cash in our savings will vanish mysteriously just as the dragons appear every year brows.gif

i mean the way the dragon lean to one side. looks kinda strange to me... rclxub.gif

Mine just CAN'T FREAKING BEND!! There are holes on the tree which means it is bendable, but I left it like that since I don't want to risk cracking it, which ever way it would be sad.gif ...but I'll definitely paint that dragon and the lady!! vmad.gif
The right wing is abit bent since I think it's a case of being cooped up in the box for too long...think I can use hot water to straighten it....

what holes? cant you tell from the material used whether the tree is bendable or not? i mean is it like the bendable tails of those dragons? or hard rubber?

be sure to show us the before/after pics when you finished painting it... rclxms.gif
*

Yup, like the tails of all the dragons, which you will see have three holes. Holes means there are bendable wires placed in that part of the figure...I have a cobra replica from Petrosains shop which bends in the same way, and it has holes of three on some parts of the body.
paint? yeah I'll be getting some acrylic paint soon...but then again I'll most probably only touch up on parts of the dragon which look messy.. smile.gif

the eternal dragon was also painted rather carelessly...still thinking of whether to get it or not unsure.gif

so confirm it is bendable right? good...

how about the rest of the dragons? are you going to get all of them?
*

I'll probably be getting the eternal and sorcerer...the berserker and water don't really look like the dragons I like hehe... tongue.gif the fire clan dragon looks like a prehistoric bird..

I'll be snatching up my berserker boxed set series 1 this weekend. I'm still searching for a fire clan series 1 dragon, and also the komodo series 2. Missed out these dragons because I just started my collection... sad.gif

Hot water worked for my eternal clan s2 (the wings were bent), but didn't quite work with the komodo, so now the wings are back to being droopy. thank goodness my dragon didn't have the leaning problem. will try it again tomorrow... doh.gif

Ultimate Toys and Toy Wiz still have quite a few komodo boxed sets. smile.gif about the individual clamshells, I had to get my eternal and sorcerer together in ultimate toys because toy wiz doesn't have eternal extras for sale.

I replaced the komodo's plastic chain with a metal one. part of the chain is glued to the chick's hand which i used a hot needle to make a slight depression. at least it looks slightly better now. i 'm worried all the prototype chains in the next series will be all plastics in the final product... rclxub.gif

Just got my sorcerer boxset today, and yeah it really rocks! the paintwork for the series 4 dragons should exemplify this one. I painted the orb dark blue with a Pantone marker you can buy in the artshops in petaling street. Ii got mine from nanyang arts. I also repainted the orb stick and used hot water to straighten out the wings. Other than that the figure looks just great, unlike the poor komodo boxset.. sad.gif

thanks. it does help a lot having those markers. i'm considering acrylic paint which can do stuff the markers can't.

hello
funkychips... can u elaborate on how u use hot water to straighten the sorcerer boxset??
i am having problem also.. wanted to straighten it out but a bit scared will ruin it..
*

Hi there prazole,

Depending on the type of plastic they use, you might or might not risk ruining the wings. As far as I know, there are two types of plastics they use on the dragons. Transparent hard plastics like those on that sorcerer or the series 1 komodo are easier to reshape and easily readjustable at high heat (they soften and harden in a short time), while the soft bendable plastics like the wings of the komodo series 4 are less resistant and so might lose its firmness after being exposed to high heat. I learnt this the hard way coz i gave hot water treatment to my komodo and now its wings have gone droopy. I noticed the dragons from the earlier series were made from more heat resistant plastics than the last series, presumably they were trying to cut cost on production sad.gif . Just in case you have droopy wing problem with the komodo boxset dragon, do not attempt to hot water treat it.

To straighten the wings, just heat the water in a saucepan or pot until close to boiling point, then just soak the part you want to readjust. the wings will become soft and floppy when you soak it in, and using a towel, just hold the posture until it cools and hardens. Hope this helps wink.gif .
