Maybe too old liao leh.. usually fish from lfs age is unknown n might not b disease free.

FUrthermore, mayb ur tank setup got problem.

You can't just soak the bag to "acclimate". That is not acclimate. That is just soaking a bag of water, and temperature in Malaysia don't vary as much.

If you want to acclimate, you need to mix the water from your tank into the bank SLOWLY for at least 1 hour.

And that is drip acclimating, using an airline tubing. If you want it to be easier:

1. float the bag for 10 minutes
2. every 5 minutes add water slowly say, half a cup.
3. Until it is almost full then only transfer the fish AND DO NOT DUMP THE BAG WATER INTO THE TANK.

using this method, I have never had a new fish die but I use only drip, because its much safer and it is the only proper way.
im sorry but I think you should do much more research. Acclimating a fish is the very FIRST STEP to learning to keep fishes. I donno y so many ppl in malaysia donno this very first step. The amount of ppl that I have seen killing their fish from ph shock is omg. 

secondly, changing the water everyday is extreme to the fish. Because imagine your water parameter changing everyday, you cant even get used to it. Thats why people say always do a fishless cycle before adding fish if you want the best for your fish. Say one water change 20-30% 3 times a week, then reducing in the next week and so forth until once a week change.

With a fish in cycle, you need frequent water changes, but not everyday.

And another mistake that a lot of fish owners do is, disturbing and severely vacuuming the gravel/sand after a long time.

After a long time, anaerobic bacteria and waste builds up in the soil/gravel/sand and when people do a severe and thorough cleaning you release these gas bubble build up from bacteria and waste and often it kills the fish. Because of the toxicity in the bubbles, it also causes the ammonia to spike insanely high. Gentle cleaning, is fine. Even more get some MTS snails to dig in the soil to keep the soil aerated. Or dont disturb your gravel too much.

A fish in cycling is basically what you're doing now, it is not unheard of, it is actually the old method of doing things. Not saying its bad, you can still do it.

hi all sifu .. i'm not sure if this is the correct section to post but my gal betta fish has been acting weird lately and the fins are starting to drop / rot... there was a while where he didnt like to swim... what may be the cause?? she's been changing the water regularly and into a solitary mini aquarium ...

Best fish food I found to be:

New Life Spectrum. Can be a lil pricey, but it is top dog notch food.
I feed all my fishes NLS pellets. But the ones that I have found are sinking pellets. There are floating ones but you need to find. Price ranges from RM20-RM60 per tub. One tub can last quite some time say 6 months?

There is a NLS betta formula too.

Brings out the colours like crazy.

Also it produces less waste than Hikari.

But the best diet you can give ur betta is a variety of foods. sticking to one food is okay but best is variety.

This is what i do: NLS pellets as a staple, freezedried bloodworm and krill, crushed algae pellets as supplements for guppies and smaller fishes.

My predatory fish get NLS pellets, shrimp and fish fillets, chicken
Here is one of the ingredients of NLS pellet range:

where do you guys buy frozen bloodworms? which one is better btw? i heard if buy cheap quality live food your betta might get sick easily, might even get dropsy. i tried finding in a LFS near my house but they're not selling it. got a pack of rm1 food from them, not sure what food is that but they told me it's good for small fish. repacked by themselves and is small round pellets brown in colour like most of the food out there xD
oh and i've been feeding my betta with 3 pellets (sometimes 4) everyday, will it be enuf?

No need to use the betta formula, the normal type with thera A+ is good enough if you cant find it in msia

Dont bother with test strips. They are highly inaccurate. Get the API freshwater testkit. It is the most accurate. RM120 and it will last you for a lifetime.

Fin rot you can buy the fin rot meds at the lfs.

look at ur picture seems your betta fish is sick..better u ask otai2 because i also newbie in betta..

now i also recovery my betta fish. have pop eye and bloating because not care about water change..

not because of the dry fert alone. it is due to the farmer also.

Fin rot case usually use Aqua Salt 1st, if not working then yellow powder or fin rot medicine (i prefer melafix).

-kytz- : the gill thingie is normal if it flare too much.. nothing to worry, but the fin rot thingie u better pay more attention otherwise u feed wat expensive pellet also no use.. From the pic, the fin rot is consider quite serious liao..

For everyone reference, every time u WC add lil bit of Aqua Salt. As a preventive measure for disease and let the fish calm down faster. But this doesnt mean put liao salt the fish wont  get sick.

Your fish looks like it has ammonia burn and fin rot.

Get the fin rot medicine and dose according, add abit of salt too. and monitor.

Buy aquarium salt not table salt. And then follow instructions. Table salt has iodine in it. which is bad for fish in big amounts. Table salt also has anti caking agents.

U can just buy any medication that says it is for fin rot.

just buy api fungus cure 1 sachet for 10gallons.

1 tablespoon of salt can kill your fish liao lo... become ikan masin

anyway depends on your tank size..

Betta Relax is like IAL/ketapang extract.. But in Msia u can like find IAL at anywhere on the floor.. ><!!

To treat with AQ Salt in your quarantine tank:
Take a clean cup of some sort to mix clean tank water and salt in. Take a small amount of the QT tank's water out and into this cup. You're mixing the salt before hand because when not dissolved, it burns!
Add in 2 teaspoons per gallon of Aquarium Salt into this cup and allow it to dissolve fully. Stir it around to mix faster. 
If the fin rot is very advanced,  up this dose to no more than 3 tsp salt/gallon of water. Pre-mix in 2 tsp as above. After 1 hour, add in one more tsp/gallon of the salt. You are staggering the amount to assure the fish isn't stressed by so much salt. (In total, this will equate to 3 tsp/gallons. So, if you have a 1 gallon tank, you've added 2tsp at first. Later, you add 1 more tsp, for a total of 3 tsp.)
Add the salt/water mixture back into the QT tank gently so it wont knock around your fish.

Bro, I am from Miri too. You know which fish shop got sell high quality betta? Planning to get back to betta keeping and breeding soon. Or you get yours online?

i would say more towards pure solid color. you know, like pure white without any red or black or pure red without any iridescent, black or blue.
