maybe u forgot to install something important..

ASUS G53SX - XR1 is using the same Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M GPU with 2GB GDDR5 Video Memory as well.

meaning the 2 model i mentioned will not perform well in gaming since both running the same type of gc unless i chg to GTX560M 192-bit bus 3gb gddr5 vram
*
if u game at high to ultra settings @full HD ,the 128bit 560m will not perform well because of the bottleneck in the memory bus.. and u cant change the gpu cuz its not yet possible (reverse mxm slot in the g53sx, soldered gpu for the g74sx)

however, it does well at medium to high settings.. ive game tried crysis 1 n 2 , witcher 2 n metro 2033 , battlefield 3 at 1080p.. very playable at an avg of 30-40fps

difference in the two models would be the size obviously, the g74sx is huge... performance between the two is virtually the same...

the g53sx comes with full HD screen.. if im not mistaken the g74sx bbk comes with a reso of 1600x900..

when gaming, the g74sx is more silent at full load, some say u can barely hear the fans.. and the temps never go beyond 70C even with a massive overclock

the g53sx at full load, u can hear a bit of a whine from the gpu fan.. but its not that loud and annoying.. gpu temps after overclock can go up to 82-83C .. depending on ur ambient temp.. ive never seen it go past 85C

also, the keyboard of the g53sx has a bit of a flex if u type like a hard azz mofo... the g74sx keyboard is better...

lastly, if u want to install some ram or SSD or HDD, its too easy for the g74sx.. just unscrew and pop the back panel.. but with the g53sx, its way more complicated... need to open ur keyboard, palmrest, then can open the back panel

hope this helps rclxms.gif

it helps alot infact, thanks mate  thumbup.gif

but i have another inquiry, which is ,
I plan to change or upgrade the gc of 2 mentioned model from GTX 560M GPU 2GB GDDR5 Video Memory to GTX 560M GPU 3GB GDDR5 Video Memory. problem is whether the changes/upgrade is possible for the 2 mentioned model. please advise thank you  hmm.gif
*
for the g74sx.. the gpu is soldered onto the mobo itself. therefor not possible to change it

for g53sx.. the gpu uses a reverse mxm slot, i think only asus uses reverse mxm.. while other manufacturers use normal mxm !! therefore, u cannot just get a normal mobile gpu and put it in the g53sx cuz its in reverse.. ur best bet would be to hope that asus releases the nex g53 model with the same chassis with reverse mxm slot and a more powerful gpu.. then only u can swap

some epic facepalm decisions from asus right there.. reverse slot and crippled gpu...

is it good to have optimus technology?

now i can set crysis 2 to extreme and fps around 25-30
how about u?
may i know how we know we exceed the max when oc gpu or cpu?
im new in oc..
*
play crysis 2 with ur OC for at least 2 hours straight

if it doesnt crash/gpu clock reset/artifact

means u r 100% stable

i say 2 hours because i tot my OC was stable for gaming. but after 1 and half hours.. the screen flashed to black n gpu reset to stock clocks

if the above symptoms dont occur.. then push more..

**if u really really want to push ur 460m, u need to mod ur vbios to run on 1v voltage... this will prob get u to the mid 800s (at the expense of more heat + instability)

just ran the Furmark, why it show the original clock speed while not the OC 1?
and yestesday i play the crysis 2 in extreme, very high and high mode, everything is ok, but the temp exceed until 93C like that, is it ok? or dangerous for my GPU?

[attachmentid=2610787]
*
ummmm most of the 460m that ive seen run below >90C

try playing with stock clocks and see ur temps...

I use furmark to test stability. Click on the Benchmark with the setting u desired, it will eventually heating up the GPU to almost 100% GPU Processing.

One more thing, anything using Driver 285.62? I have some driver stop responding and recovered as many other desktop GTX 560 users in Nvidia Forum?
*
i hate that driver... lol... i didnt get that error but it made my battlefiled 3 crash..and crash my OC ...

using beta 285.79 now... stable for battlefield 3 ... but crashes MW3.. really2 wtf....

my fav driver is 280.26 .. but battlefield 3 crashing on that..

i also tried the 290.xx driver... this is even worse.. hard lockups in b3 , skyrim... followed by looping audio BRRRRRR

Yeap, the driver is the culprit. Pretty sure Nvidia is investigating it. A lot of GTX 560 Users are complaining that sudden driver failure.
There are no vbios update for GTX 560M so far. It is obviously nvidia driver has a flaw. Both beta and 285.62 suffers the same driver failure symptoms.
*
i feel the older drivers more stable man.. 280.26

srlsy...

wtf nvdia drivers so many problem...

Would like to ask, if I install an USB External Sound Card, should I disable the onboard sound first or even uninstall it? As my new creative USB sound card, the feature example EAX setting etc, not seems to work fine and prompt me error that "Audio Device Not Detected....." I tried plug in headset and Speaker to the USB sound card, got sound, but all the feature (mixer, EAX etc) not working and no sound effect. One noob question, how to disable Onboard sound? I can't seems to find that option at BIOS Setup for G53SX.
*
if bios dont have...

maybe u can try disabling it thru device manager

Guys using G53sx non 3d
all the screen is matte and FHD?
how is it? Can play most games in 'high settings' right?
Is the gimped graf card slow?

I play wow,and will play starwars the old republic online and most of the current games.
Might get it soon.
*
Yes matte n fhd. Yes most can high but some like witcher 2 n metro 2033 and b3 need to play in medium otherwise not smooth.

It is slow when u overload the gpus memory bus with ultra-high textures

If you like to game alot, go with G53 cos it doesnt use optimus technology like in n55.
I have a msi GE620DX, it come with GT555M like n55 and from what I experience, sometimes optimus doesnt work properly.
*
like sometimes u cant change to gt555??

For g53 sx user
Is the Graf card enough for max settings on sc2 wow star wars ?

Did you upgrade ram? If yes how much?

Added on January 2, 2012, 7:37 pmAs in how much ram did you add*
*
for wow and star wars , yes

but for SC2.. ultra + 1080p will probably lag abit.. unless u lower ur resolution

most users here add until 8gb

u can also ask the shop to do it for u, if they provide such kind of services

*
the 3d one has more ram, bluray, 3d glasses, 120hz screen, glossy screen, hd+ resolution

yes.. BF3 is playable in 3d , but u have to turn off some of the features for smoother gameplay..
