Hi Ed,
Can you confirm that your G55VW is the G55VW-S1095V model?
Also, a few snap shots of your new baby would be nice for the rest of us to drool over. smile.gif.
For the rest of the kaki here, looks like Gadgetzone still have one.
You can probably contact Andrew at 017-4788006 to get more information.
He is the tech based at their outlet in Queensbay & is a very helpful guy.
Any other places in Penang selling the G55VW yet apart from Gadgetzone?

you want to buy from gadgetzone?

Hi Arvinaaaa,
Have to get it from a shop in Penang as I'll be claiming for it.
Also, easy to go kacau if there is a problem later.
However, I'm still open to suggestions.
Where did you get your baby from?

Penang kaki here. Working in PCB prototype design in the Bayan Lepas area.
Still haven't bought the G55VW as the 2nd batch not available yet.
1st batch from Gadgetzone does not come with the back pack & I'm too kiamsiap to pay for a backpack. smile.gif.
Rather spend it on extra RAM instead.

I got a quote from www.kairaglobal.com for 4GB 1600Mhz SO-DIMM RAM.

Email from them reads as below.
"
Hi,

Your price will be RM76/pc.

Lead time will be 7 working days if you can confirm purchase by today.

You may pick up the item from our Penang office.

Best regards,

Dexter

If got a non 3D G75, I'd be very interested in it.

1. Back to the non 3D G55VW-S1095V. Apart from Gadgetzone in Penang, are there any other shops with ready stock?
2. How much is the maximum RAM I can get installed on site without sending the laptop to dreaded Asus Service Center (I can just imaging the Tech there going "Me Hulk Smash"). smile.gif

So far the cheapest price for the G55VW-S1095V is still at techhypermart but they're in KL, & I'm in Penang so they're out of the question for me.
http://www.techhypermart.com/notebooks/asu...s-notebook.html

Also, if anyone has a more detail picture of the stock Asus Bag that comes with the G55VW-S1095V, please post. I'd really like to see what the padding for the laptop sleeve inside looks like.

Thanks,
Dbassnut

Hi Guys,
I noticed that some of the Asus G55VW-S1095V come with 4GB RAM. If you bought one, could you let us know what is the speed? 1600MHz or 1333Mhz?
Thanks, smile.gif.

Some shops are selling the G55VW-S1095V with 1333MHz.

http://www.swisspac.com.my/home/uploads/asusnotebook.pdf

Typo? smile.gif or are they replacing the existing ones with the 1333MHz RAM?

I just took a look at the current Asus Magazine & it shows that the G55VW-S1095V comes with a laptop backpack that looks the same as the one for the 3D version which is the ROG laptop backpack & not the Asus Backpack.
Looks kind of fishy that the resellers here are bundling the G55VW-S1095V with a cheap version. Either the photo in the magazine is wrong. Or the resellers here swapping the ROG backpack for the cheapo one.
See the attached Asus May_June edition of the magazine for the photo of the bag.

Khai Liang, Hows your G55 that you got from Gadgetzone? I may drop by their shop this weekend to see if the last unit is available if I am free. If not, have to wait for the next batch. Still no idea when the next batch of the Asus G55VW-S1095V is coming in. grrr. It would really come in handy for my 10 layer board design.

guys , stock g55 without bag, without mouse. free rams to 12gb. corsair 1600 , worth?
*
If RM3999, worth it.
A decent bag would probably cost about RM200~300 & you'd get to choose one that you like.
Not sure what the free bag looks like but I heard it isn't too nice if it's the Asus one. If the ROG one its better but still, if they've give me more RAM instead of the bag, I'd go for the RAM.
I think the RAM is about RM90~120 for 4GB 1600MHz?

Added on May 25, 2012, 8:32 pmI just got back from BJC in Penang. Swisspac there says that they can get the Asus G55 but must preorder. Leadtime is 3 days. & the Onboard RAM is 4GB 1333MHz.
I still haven't received any feedback from Asus about the actual RAM though some ppl are saying that it is supposed to be 1600MHz.
Anyone here got any idea?

Also, anyone ran CPU-Z to check their RAM? There's another guy here that did & is saying that his RAM is 1600MHz but CPU-Z is showing it as 800MHz. See link.

Without pressing FN key or with?
Then ur option is to get a buyer to buy ur unit from devour when is available and u get it from somewhere else first.
That's threatening.
*
No it isn't. Its just letting other buyers from becoming victims of a seller that does not honour his T & Cs. Threatening would be something like "if you don't fix the problem, I'll bring my guitar & start singing outside your shop". Trust me, you don't wanna make me sing. smile.gif

Geramnya Asus.
Looks like even if you like the G55, have to wait. If you manage to actually get one, & have problem, have to wait. Send for repair, have to wait. email Asus to clarify something, have to wait.
They hire waiters for their service ppl ke?
Anyways, Lenovo is coming out with the Y580 which has similar specs. I still prefer Asus but if no choice & Asus dun wan my businesss, what to do?
