QUOTE(SKY233 @ May 28 2012, 01:05 PM) Hi Sky,Could you ask about the RAM? Some shops are saying its 1333MHz, some 1600MHz. Also, the price and availability if they don't have it now. And how much is the maximum RAM we could upgrade without voiding the warranty or sending the laptop to the dreaded Asus Service Center Hulktichian. Saw another funny review where the user was complaining about the weight & the lack of a ROG Wheel Barrow to cart the G55 around in. http://www.amazon.com/G55VW-ES71-15-6-Inch...howViewpoints=1 Btw, I did email Asus & all I received so far is "We are looking into it & will get back to you". This is about 3 weeks back & I asked again as recent as last week. But no reply yet. Thanks, Dbassnut. |

QUOTE(girugaga86 @ May 30 2012, 04:06 PM) Haha yeah, Sager are called Clevo as well. Looks wise, they are indeed disappointing. But hey, if i can stand MSI medieval looks I'm sure I can stand Sager too One of the reviews mentioned that the Lenovo Y580 would be available in June. That would be about the same time as the 2nd batch of the Asus G55VW. Actually laptops are generally cheaper here in Malaysia. If i'm not mistaken, malaysia really don't charge tax on laptops. Someone pointed that out here before, i don't really remember. But having a nearer manufacturers could also be the reason though. I can't be sure and any laptop that has similar or better performance than the G55 will do I just talked to Gadgetzone Andrew & he too doesn't know when the 2nd batch will be in but will email me as soon as they are. I'll update here as soon as he confirms the date. |

Hardisk still 1TB 5400rpm? 3. Bundled bag still the cheapo Asus non padded one instead of the ROG one? Thanks, Dbassnut |

If Asus doesn't buck up, I think a lot of ppl may buy the Y580 instead of the G55VW, especially if the GPU is the GTX one. grrr. Pity, as I really like the design for the Asus G55VW.

QUOTE(girugaga86 @ Jun 1 2012, 02:17 PM) older graphic, but it still owns the gtx660m in terms of raw power. Last i checked, it was about 40-50% better than the 660m. and yep, m17x. i'm looking for anything that is 15-17" with FHD, and strong gpu. Cpu can be either 3610, or 2670 or even 2820. Ram/ssd upgrades are more user accessible.. but money la but best if my G55 can just arrive quickly to stop my wandering mind. |

One of the techs told me that if you have a 1600MHz RAM & added in another 1333MHz RAM, both would use the slower RAMs speed so both would run at 1333MHz. That's why its better to install all the RAM the same speed.

I've already emailed Asus 4 weeks ago about this. & they asked me for the laptop's serial number which is kind of hard for me to give them as I haven't bought the laptop yet.
Still have no idea what the stock RAM speed is but I hope its the 1600MHz one. Added on June 5, 2012, 10:27 amOK, according to the asus website, its 1600MHz. http://my.asus.com/Notebooks/Gaming_Powerh...#specifications But better check as some shops also told me that the RAM is 1333MHz, which means they're either swapping out the RAM, or Asus website is wrong.
