Not true, I'm using DiGi Smart Plan Lite + BIS plan. Been on EDGE all this while to save my battery juice. I'm not being charged extra at all.

Select only 3G from your phone's mobile network options?

Luckily I don't face that problem, surprisingly early in the morning my BIS is running good, I can surf net almost instantly though I limited it to only EDGE.
Then your area probably not in 3G area...
How about selecting 2G/3G?

How about your SIM card? The super old type or just a recent these few years one?

How about your friends? Any of them using DiGi and at the same area as yours?
Do they have the phone connected to 3G?
If no, put your SIM card into your friend's phone which supports 3G.

If none of your friends is able to connect to 3G in the same area as yours and using DiGi - Tower issue
If your SIM card can detect 3G in your friend's phone - Phone/SIM card issue (unlikely)

3G = UMTS
3.5G = HSDPA and now most of them have upgraded to HSPA

Either way, you should see a H for a normal smartphone and 3G for BlackBerry. BlackBerry will only show 3G and not H or 3.5G.

I'm thinking to just let go my DiGi Ambassador to go U Mobile. DiGi's coverage isn't excellent even in city areas and the rates are getting less competitive.

Free SIM replacement only for DiGi centres. I had experienced that my SIM failed suddenly and I need a replacement immediately. Went to DiGi in 1U, I had to pay RM10 for replacement. I was told to go SS2 or Solaris DiGi Centre if I want it free.

Since I'm running short of time that moment, I just paid for it. Inconsistent DiGi policy I suppose.

Prepaid needs to pay for SIM card replacement but not postpaid. Last I heard.

If so, please be aware when going to DiGi 1U. They charge.

digi 3g speed is so snail.... i consistantly got speed about 100kbps only.

Yeah.. I saw them selling Simpacks in 7E too, but mainly is Cosway I suppose. Other phone shops you hardly can see them. Most is Maxis / Celcom / DiGi only.

For uMobile, there is no 3G in Sabah. Only 2G. GPRS/EDGE sahaja. That itself is pretty dodgy already in my books in this modern smartphone world.

Lucky for those people staying in Peninsula. They share with Maxis 3G right? I wish they can upgrade their network to 3G leh..

I haven't tried it myself. But I'm gonna give it a go once my wife's DiGi contract expires. I think if your usage pattern is same as my wife you should probably give the uMobile a go too. Prepaid ma, can cancel anytime. 

And 2G is ok for some light surfing, facebooking, Whatsapp & etc. If I put my wife on that plan and she ok with it ah... walaooooo... save a lot money every month leh.. HAha.. Think also happy now..
