Just an update on my situation. They replaced the LCD for me without charge. One time offer. They also advised me to buy the warranty for a whopping RM1400!. Thanks a lot to magnor and mikex for the help guys. Truly appreciate it.

I'm not using the i5 model, but based on what I've read and also estimating based on my specs, I can say that:
- Gaming performance would be the same for most games since gaming experience (especially for FPS games) relies more on GPU; apart from certain games (RTS or games that optimizes quad core processors).. even so, the performance differences won't be large compared to the M14x with SB i7. GPU temps for the M14x is stable, average max = 75C without cooler/fan etc.

- Heat will surely be much, much lower; personally I'd recommend going for the i5 variant considering the i7 variant reaches 90-100C during gaming/load

- No problems at all with HD movies, most netbooks could handle this nowadays~

- Similarly to above, no problems at all

- You would be able to squeeze out even more battery life from the 8-cell battery with the i5 processor. My version can last for ~3.5-4hours with Wifi and dimmest brightness.. you can expect longer runtimes with the i5 variant thumbup.gif

as far as i know, ready unit = refurbished or 2nd hand unit, common sense though

that is my assumption, dont blame me, can check by using service tag though

Is a laptop cooler needed for Alienware? Seeing as temperatures go so high, might consider getting a good one.
