yes alienware jus cut down their price.. m17x wif 7970m just 7k without 3D =D
but the problem are they dont offer changing in processor.. only 1 option

btw do any1 know is m17x r4 used the same surface as m18x ? m17x r3 = plastic-liked was told on youtube compared to m18x
*
R4 is just paying premium for that I rather get R3 which same thing. Process thingy ivy and sandy are just same

Change to new GPU for what? Its basically slightly higher clock than what you already owned. Matter of fact, you will not feel the different apart from benchmark result.

How much is your ram now? You can use most of the ram in the market, the different is not a very big gap, too.

Tell you what, if you really want to feel the different - purchase SSD.

+1.

7970
2tb hdd 5400 rpm
rm7.5k

For raw power 7970 would be nice..... but still AMD driver always be the conflict.
Ur 5400RPM will kill ur system.

Just brought a gTX670 OC. Performance are just impressive. And now 7970m is nearly GTX580 performance. Luckily gtx670 is totally a different gab to GTX5xx series for desktop version

yet 7970m is a beast car =P people no longer need desktop now xD
*
U can't say that. Hahaha. My pc cost me 2.8k only. Urs 7.5k
I have other money to buy another laptop for portable. Cause I'm sure most of the time gaming would be at home and need power to perform good, even lan party I can just bring the little monster to my friend house . Hoho

So might as well buy a better spec to avoid upgrade in the future?
*
of course highest spec is recommand always. and just not really need to be such high end if u doesnt really have much budget, or much gaming. maybe u can use the money for other thing, like SSD.

advice would be go for SSD, and get a External HDD(faster enough for u to transfer here and there thorugh out the HDD, as HDD(vry slow transfer, even u put it inside sata port)

better buy online....that is what i did to ger my m14x full spec...proccessor spanking the m17x lol
*
Processor spanking M17x means??
Since core 2quad q9000 the processor is overkill for our daily life usage. Now the concern is SSD and graphic card. RAM doesn't effect much

yea but ssd doesnt mean anyting u only get fast bootup times and data transfer not noticable in gaming...not worth for the price......graphic card do matter though tongue.gif
*
Same to processor as well. U doesn't gain performance either quad or dual.

its all depends on what u use the comp for....if for converting videos u need a overkill cpu laugh.gif  laugh.gif
or gaming, GPU is the most important, then followed by the HDD/SSD speed and CPU biggrin.gif
*
then u are wrong, converting video quad core are still overkill where it wont utilize.... my dual core will be faster than urs ^^(both using HDD), if i3+SSD, still faster than ur i7+HDD in converting video

what u see online are DIGITS/NUMBERS, in real life is nothing where we cant feel or see the different. Those are just their marketing strategy.
