Has anyone received the new Market (3.4.4) yet?

Eh, the Verizon units have gotten an Android 4.0.2 update. Hope ours comes soon.

Images for the HSPA+ units are already out on xda-developers, via Google. OTA is just a matter of time now.

I just received 4.0.2 update downloaded bur cant install.i think cwm is stopping the install.and now the uodate is gone.damn

Whoa! Means that ours should be getting it soon too! I've been refreshing my update button but still no luck sad.gif Pardon my ignorance but what's CWM?

On another note, the battery life on my Nexus is improving. 57% after 9 hours 45 minutes, some texting, Whatsapping, app downloading and data/wifi Facebook/Twitter/light browsing. Expecting it to get better as I put it through more charge cycles.

Coming from the much-maligned Xperia X10i, the Galaxy Nexus is a real breath of fresh air, although I have to admit that I'm missing Timescape (I'm probably one of the few who actually likes it). I miss being able to read my SMSes and Twitter mentions from a simple widget. SMSes, in particular.

Bro String, has your GNex received the 4.0.2 update prompt?

Not yet. When was this made available?

Yesterday at the Verizon LTE version's launch, ours is to follow suit OTA soon.

There are flashable images available on XDA (through Google) already though, for both LTE and HSPA+ versions.

Apple Byte is that way, guys.

I still haven't received Market 3.4.4 and Android 4.0.2. I know I can easily get the files and install them myself, but I want to experience the super fast Google OTA updates 'naturally', since this is my first Nexus phone smile.gif

you'll need task killer for that, which is actually not recommended to do so. You might mess up the memory management of Android... and end up draining more battery juice.

its better to just let Android manage the memory itself.
*
Agreed. I've never used a task killer since I forgot to set an exception for my alarm on my then-Android 1.6-toting Xperia X10i back in April 2010 laugh.gif

Memory management was acceptable since 2.1 onwards, and in ICS it's so much better. I just clear my running apps section out of OCD-ness these days tongue.gif

No point ordering for the States now unless if you're getting it direct from a friend who's coming back.. by the time it arrives here, the GNex will be close to launching locally and I bet there will be more accessories by then.

I ordered a Diztronic TPU case from Amazon through my friend who's boarding a plane home from the US today, opted for the quick shipping for it to arrive on Friday; turned out that UPS screwed up the delivery order (maybe too many orders for festive season) and thus I won't be getting it when he touches down tomorrow sad.gif So I just asked him to cancel the order because when the cases reach here it'll probably be half the price.

Just my 2 sen if anyone is thinking of ordering from the States smile.gif

The Incipio looks good though. I wanted a Case-Mate Tough but apparently the silicon inner layer attracts lint, and there have been cases of accidental power and volume presses due to the tightness of the outer hard shell. Will wait and see what options do I have here. I kinda like resin/TPU cases due to the minimal bulk they add, but yet still durable enough to protect from regular daily knocks against table tips or short drops.

Have been obsessively checking for the Android 4.0.2 update for my phone but still no notification yet. And for whatever reason, the new Market still hasn't been pushed as well sad.gif

Just want to share my battery life chart after a week of use.

Wifi, 3G, location-based services always on, with some texting, Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and browser use.

This is my average usage a day. Pretty satisfied.

Not an authoritative chart, since everyone uses their device differently, but seems quite impressive overall. More than 20 hours with location based services and wifi-hunting on is quite good considering the size of that screen and the amount of pixels it's got to pump out.
I don't see "Browser" in that chart, so I'm guessing you didn't browse so much?
*
Of course not, I'm just sharing my experience, won't be able to speak for others smile.gif

It's there, along with Twitter, Whatsapp etc, just have to scroll down.

Yeah, I'm pretty impressed with the battery life, considering everything that it has to do. I purposely brought it up to full charge last night around 10pm, used it until about 2am, and throughout the whole day until I got back from work. This was the reading after I had dinner smile.gif

Finally got my phone from irenic! Really nice meeting you irenic happy.gif I would say its worth the long wait.
really impressive battery life you got there. Regardless if you browse the web often or not, 20+ hours of battery life is impressive.  nod.gif
Android Revolution HD 2.1.1, its a custom ROM by mike1986, available for download at XDA Dev and RootzWiki

from the feedbacks it seems the latest version of ARHD is really really good.  hmm.gif

Congrats on getting the GNex! Yes, irenic's a really nice person to meet thumbup.gif

Very good battery life especially you had 3G on most/all the time!  rclxms.gif

Did you use Viber yet?

Added on December 19, 2011, 11:51 pm
Make sure there's no CIQ in it, then it should be ok.  tongue.gif

Viber isn't compatible with ICS yet sad.gif

Yup, I never turned off 3G since day one. I only toggle Wifi on/off because of crappy hotspots.

So for those who are getting crappy battery life from their new phones, just continue using it. It'll get better after a week or two, trust me. Same thing happened with my X10i as well nod.gif

Yakju build still on 4.0.1 here. Not flashing manually because I want to see how fast Nexus phones can get updated.

After trolls invaded our thread, we can't even have a productive discussion about our phones without getting bashed anymore yawn.gif

Hope mods enforce the banhammer quick.

I wouldn't say problems per se.. but rather, shortcomings and what owners can do to overcome them..

The first thing that comes to mind is fixing the low volume issue with Volume+.

Something else worth mentioning also is allowing Facebook sync with HaxSync.

I don't think the GNex has any widespread problems that affects all phones a la Antennagate; the problems reported have so far been relatively isolated - e.g. I only encountered one sleep of death and random reboot each within the first week of purchase and no more since.

Maybe TS could also highlight the colour banding issue on the AMOLED screens and how to distinguish it from a regular working one - i.e. horizontal lines are normal, diagonal ones are faulty. I suppose this is as close to a widespread problem that the GNex has.

Speaking of which, my Yakju build hasn't received 4.0.2 yet, and so have some others in xda, which leads me to believe that the distribution has been paused for either bug-fixing or a straight jump to 4.0.3. Not really complaining as my current 4.0.1 F has been fantastic so far.

not sure if this is good, but I'm getting 12 hours easily even when I am constantly using the phone, else with light usage it gets 24 hours easily.

cruxidex's GNex has similar battery life.

Getting a travel/in-car charger is more worth than getting an extended battery, IMO. The extended battery won't last you on extended trips, but the in-car charger will smile.gif
