I think shipping scorpions from oversea wouldn't be a problem lor...if those guy send as parcel through FedEx or watever, it wouln't catch the eyes of KASTAM coz they will take it as a parcel mail...like wat we do in Malaysia, i send scorp in a postpack then no one know wat actually inside the postpack, they just take it as a normal parcel...
*
But what if they got curious and "apa dalam kotak ar ?" and start shaking it up and down vigorously ??? I'm sure u'll hear a lot of sound of scorps flying around in the boxes ...and when he is done with his curiosity...so will the scorps shocking.gif

Technically i wanna follow the law and be a good citizen la...dun wanna beat any laws even if nobody ever finds out. The disty said will add in a heat pack to maintain high altitude temp drops. And also comes with free paper stuffings too tongue.gif
But frankly the delivery charges, I'm not so happy about lor...USD50 is not something light leh...oh yar forgot to tell u guys that the sellers allow you to choose the genders of the scorps or tarantulas...but i think u have to pay more for that lor... sad.gif Everything also they wanna charge more wan...sigh

dats y its better to buy in bulk.
get a few ppl...
like u buy one scorpion...transport charges is 50USD
u buy 10 also 50USD coz the parcel same size.
so lets say 5 ppl buy then 50USD can devide by 5 lor.
dats the way we do it lar.
normally my suppliers import...sekali masuk few hundred specimens wan.
like dat more worth it.

how much is a yellow fattail???
*
Yar...was trying to do that but since this is the first time doing a deal with them, if get 10 people to buy and lets say the deal go sour, then i will have 10 people after my neck. tongue.gif This is a testing round nia...if successful, then next round will go for bulk la...much cheaper too. But i scared the charges will increase more lor.

Yellow fat tail...? Androctonus australis or Leiurus quinquestriatus ?
Haven't got a reply on that...niway i'm not going near that thing... shakehead.gif Kwai low LC abit lar...so will ask him when i finalise my order otherwise i think he also no wanna layan 6 pcs wan...

My tank should be ready by late next week or so and will finalise the order with u guys tat are interested.

wonder how tis scorpion move its body when walking.
*
Dude, its crouching. It is not standing up so tats why it lookd like that. Tityus can be a potent pet u know. especially for us over here with no anti-venom available. 1 jab and it could be bye bye.

Briefing from my meeting with the Garmen depatmen. tongue.gif

Went to Kastam and ask them, coz the guy there i know. He said best dun bring in by postal or DHL style. They just got new equipments to scan crates. So if they see ur lil guy there without a permit, its bye bye. SO he ask me to go to the JPH to get the permit. Btw...DHL service from US to here, must be a big bomb.

JPH fella look blur blur. Scorpion ??? Apa tu? doh.gif No comments. So now they say i need to apply a permit to bring these buggers in. When arrived, JPH will take possesion of them to make sure that they are not infected (quarantine). Thats the scary part. I'm more afraid of the guys there than any actual disease. Those guys there, i sure bet they have not even seen a scorp. Sumore NZX wants a thick tail haha...scared the staff there mati lar...come out newspaper.
When all is ok and clear within a few days, "I" will have to collect them from SEPANG KLIA ! WAH PIANG.

Now i think its cheaper to get the bulk order la...otherwise i drive up all the way to KLIA and collect 6 miserable critters.

SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ?
agree to split the price equally ? I wanna post on the trading page but i dun think anybody would be interested to pay so much for a legally imported specimen when the cheap locally bred or imported in ahem ...u know wat i mean.

actually interested in getting a yellow fat tail also but the procedures sounds too risky for me...

I'm more worried for the guy in jPH that will be handling the scorp than the safety of the scorp. I dun want to be responsible if one person dies a horrible death because of it.

I think order bulk is cheaper la. Not so painful if fail haha. Will go to the JPH department this saturday morning and ask them more info. DOAs are covered by the supplier la...DBJPH not covered luo hahaha sweat.gif

which scor is better ?
AFS or emperor ? coz i read from web, all said emperor is better than AFS
i mean it rary use sting compare to AFS.
if i keep scor, i wan to keep those damn safe scor then only i can move to other scor. biggrin.gif
*
Er...when come to scorp...no guarantee ur lil cutie won't zing u...tats why if u want to be safe, dun handle it with your hand. There is always a risk involved. Either way either they zing u or they clip you...Hadogenes species is said to have the weakest sting but the pincers can really inflict equally bad wounds...its either or.
U want not so venomous wan...can join me la.

I haven't check the latest list yet...kwai low on weekend la...will pm you the pricing if you pm me tat you are interested la. They told me that the box can contain about 10 pc of scorps...so we get to share with more people and reduce the freight charge.

If you want to go for pure size then of course the Emperor is the best. As for some of the other Scorp owners here, they want a challenge so they're going for the Killer scorps now like tje Desert Hairy and the Deathstalker....tongue.gif
*
Dude, Leiurus quinquestriatus is the DEATHSTALKER lar...desert hairy is not considered a lifethreatening stinger. U will still live if u get zinged.

Zoejehuty, u want emperor ar ? Mine is 7 bux...USD tat is...not including freight. tongue.gif

Erm nolar...

I said that the Leiurus is the death stalker... while the arizonensis is the desert hairy...two seperate statement lar...i tot earlier u said that the arizonensis is poisonous...so i state that it is not lor.

Zoejehuty, All scorpions are venomous but not all are poisonous...anything with a fat tail and a skinny pincer is a potential killer

Yar, pray hard...otherwise the Scorpion thread will have lesser members after every new shipments la.

U want hadrurus ar ? Tat one on the top of the list...sure got wan haha. Its common in US and i think they would be more than glad to ship them out...

Just in case...if any of you do get tagged, remember that this species is not common here and so there will be NO ANTI-VENOM available for you...Good Luck (Edit: i am refering to the Androctonus and the Leiurus sp. and not the Hadrurus. sorry for the confusion)

By the way was the stated "friend" that bought the Hadrurus earlier kept them in a suitable tank or they set them up in a AFS setup instead , meaning jungle theme?

Oh...but looks like Heterometrus to me...if its from EU then most likely its gonna be a Euscorpios sp. range la. My scorpio ID is not that good lar...plus ur photo is a bit small and blur too. tongue.gif

Anyway...BAD NEWS GUYS !
JPH refered me to the another department and now they say have to apply permit for each species that I bring in...RM 50 for each species... shocking.gif It is hard trying to be a law abiding citizen cry.gif my pocket cannot tahan... doh.gif

I also dun like it but what can i do wor. Law is law. Regulations are meant to be followed. If one fella breaks it, some more people will continue his footsteps and we may end up like Indonesia...NO CONTROL at all...Will have to go to their office and ask and see la... so sien unsure.gif

Hope u guys dun think I'm finding excuses to increase the money involved...I just also got info this morning. And I dun wanna get arrested or the scorps confiscated...

Balthasar...i understand.
Dats y i said...better to bring in many numbers of one species. Save on permits n transport cost. IN this case also...i dun think its good to bring in deathstalkers or yellow fat tails or any buthids in that case.
*
Yup. I only plan to get 3 sp now...the most that is. What i plan for now is to get
-Scorpio maurus palmatus
-Hadrurus arizonensis
-Urodacus planimanus...this one is damn cool...but dunno can find any or not la...

I will not bring in poisonous ones...dun want anyone to die because of it...

Tail less whips ? scientific name ??? Maybe this guy got...vinegaroon issit ?

Maybe bringing in desert hairy is good. This species is like the heterometrus of our region. Its native to America and its cheap there...like heterometrus isnative here n cheap here. But we cant find any desert hairy here. haha. Its reccomended for begginers.
Ur friends wan die..maybe too much humidity???

*
Ok this is from my friend, someone that has been doing a research on Hadrurus and some other species...kept them too...and this is what he has to say :

Hadrurus needs cold winters, well, at least the American species do, especially H. spadix. It gets down to about 40 F in the winter, in the burrows, in the desert for H. arizonensis. It all depends on the collecting locality. Humidity shouldn't be too much of a problem because the scorpion burrows are quite humid, compared to the outside.

Still wanna go with it ?
Nah...

How the desert hairy look like?
*
I already give u a link a few pages before. In fact 2 links. use whichever u like. Hadrurus are very popular and everyone in the US knows about it. But guess like my friend says, u will need a deep tank for that guy to burrow in and have his winter season or u may have problem with him cannot moult or wat lar...

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/eycb/scorpions/Fiches1.htm
So u no need to run around looking for it.

Its a DISCLAIMER or a CARE SHEET. Do read it as it is very informational especially before you get the lil devils...U can scroll down lower and u will see a link to the care table...it states their requirement, temperature, venom potency, waterings, how they behave which i think is very useful when it comes to choosing a scorpion. Its better that you know what they need or else they might just die off after a few months...which will make u displeased. Take some time and read through. Its good info.

When the list arrives, i will post the names (here if they allow) and we will discuss which species to bring in. Most of them will range around there. Including the freight and permit charges. Take more to cover the other charges la.
