We reap what we sow. We deserve the government we choose. If we want change, then we must change first.

Einstein said that only fools expect different results by doing the same things.

If we want a government that is sensitive to our needs, then we must elect the right people to represent us. Kick the rent-seekers and the Ali Babas out. If we miss this window of opportunity to do the right thing, we could be doomed for many generations to come.

Agri mb said no RFID in farms? That's the bullshit of the year.

To the best of my knowledge, they just selected a couple of BHs in my area and gave out forms for RFID installation.

We have to beat all monopolistic policies aimed at profiteering by a few cronies and many BHs owners made to suffer fools. They even said that if installed now, the price is something like RM50. Later it will be a couple of hundreds.

I will try my best to attend this gathering, i.e. if I am physically in town. Otherwise, wish you all success. My thoughts are with you all.

EBN prices can go up or down depending on market forces like supply and demand and there is nothing much we can do about it. What we are against is market manipulation by a selected few in cohort with government officials.

We want to be able to export RAW and Processed Bird's nest.

From what I understand, some people try to corner the EBN market by insisting that only processed nests could be exported and make it sound like the Chinese authorities tried to imposed all those conditions (sounds more like restrictions to me).

Did Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam face the same restrictions? Can they export RAW nests?

30 ppm nitrates/nitrites issue affect only cleaned bird nest. RAW nests, if properly processed in China, Malaysia or anywhere for that matter and after being washed prior to cooking will easily meet the 30 ppm requirements.

We need to say NO to RFID, plain and simple.

Just my humble opinion ok?

Goes to show that our minister is truly half-past six.

Please Wake up all of us. Unless we are brave enough, change will not come easily.

I hope we will all have a great year in 2013 once the storm that had crashed upon us for a whole year had pass with the agreement in place and the negotiation for the raw nests in the near future...

Goodbye to the incredible ill wind that blew,
may our misfortunes gone with the wind...
and may fair fortune in turn greet us with open arms!

For that to happen, must first kick out BN.

Not so sure changing gov is the best medicine to the industry. I'm not trying to side the gov but based on my observation our gov is trying their hard to salvage, support and revive the industry. Even PM announced some time ago that the EBN industry is identified as the new source and potential for developing high income for its citizen. Somehow their involvement has been slapped with the confidence crisis (intentionally created or coincide I'm not so sure) As this industry is new industry to the gov (off course the best people to advise them should be the prominent people in the industry like koh loh, ww chan K, dato beh etc) I suspect they have been somewhat inappropriately advised by some people who is trying to exploit the situation to their advantage....

Changing BN= Getting rid of incompetence. No guarantee that new goman is better but at least there is a chance that things could be better. It simply couldn't get worse.

Just my 2 sen.

Storing of bird nests in a freezer can cause freezer burn. I was informed that the resultant ebn losses its glossy nature and the ebn is a little grainy when cooked.

How true is this? Maybe some old timers can provide more info.

Post on behalf of Sifu WW

A DIY modification by me using a vacuum cleaner. The sucking part for the table top and the blower for the top part and this way there will be a circulation of air from the top to the bottom and all dirt goes into the vacuum cleaner.

Just look at the top part and you see that you need no hand to handle the blower and you have both hands to manipulate the nests to clean it better. How good, it’s all depend on the vacuum cleaner power as the stronger the sucking so will be the blower and by reducing the noozle size of the blower, you get concentrate blowing power.

Assist me to forward to the forum to share if what they want to reduce the dirt and the bugs; this works wonder without dirt/bugs flying all over the kitchen.. and all free cos all needed is to attach the vacuum cleaner to the pvc attachment and you have a cleaning station.

Regards

WW

I was surprised and saddened by the news...I knew there was this man called Charles thru Pak Hen's seminar in Jakarta in year 2010 and later found his bold plan to help the poor thru his blog and from there I was invited to join in the help for the poor and a discussion group later for the BN industry. But after some online correspondences, the line just went off without a clue...Sigh, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Through his blog, Charles was good scientist. His untimely death brought a sudden halt to the dissemination of new scientific data through his research.

Our Politicians now don't run the country but are into Get-RIch-Quick schemes. I am so tired of hearing how BN this and that from TV & newspapers.

Luckily got internet, Malaysiakini and especially Low Yat forum, we get real news and truth.

I want to contribute some $$$$ this coming GE13 so that BN will not go back to Putrajaya.

A friend just informed me that a nest processing outfit could not get permit to export unless RM12k is paid to some Vet officials from Putrajaya. If you play by the rules, that is, not paying, then your application will be in cold storage. Upfront payment of RM6k is needed and balance paid later.

The industry is already in dire straits with all the restrictions from China and our Malaysia Boleh officials don't care a damn. They are only interested in making a fast buck and line up their pockets.

How many honest officials do we have? You can't even report to MAAC because that is the crocodile den for corruption.

We need a new team at Putrajaya. We must not only exercise our vote wisely in this coming GE13 but also must spend extra effort to make sure our relatives and friends do the same. Don't take things for granted.

Well said WW. The Doc should spend more time inquiring about the RM40 million Musa-gate.
