Police are sometimes good but most of the time not good enough. If we condemn too much, they might haul us up.

Attended EBNIC 2014 at Marriott Putrajaya from 25-26 Nov 2014. Many excellent papers presented on EBN.
Nitrite issue solved. After soaking and cooking, no nitrite left. Much Ado over Nothing. UPM doing a lot of leading research on EBN. Hope they can get more research funds from the government. The Chinese and Hong Kong Professors presented many excellent papers. Our local Unis not too bad but got a long way to catch up. Pak Harry also had a presentation. Hope to get better response and quality papers in future. |

QUOTE(West Wing @ Dec 7 2014, 03:02 PM) Great since you are back with good news but any news on current EBN export and price. Many ppl have said so that after cooking, no nitrite but then our Govt went into details like exporting O% raw which is a joke of the century. Destroying the world market was easy and now, trying to build back the good years will take very much longer times. Since the RED NEST incidence, no news about EBN were good or true.......hope that your time there well spend. As in any industry, there are ups and downs depending on mainly Supply & Demand forces. The drop in Oil prices will definitely affect the country's revenue, hit by another whammy in Oil Palm prices. Rubber prices are low too, but it doesn't contribute much to the nation's coffers. Our country is only good at spending and not saving for rainy days. The near future is not too bright as reflected in the RM depreciation. Our country is in bad shape with the oil price down. when the raayat seem to be happy cos oil down, the state suffer due to loss of income from Oil which was great when the oil was over US90 and if it still go down, where the fund coming from. PM sakit kapala and I was right when I said that Malaysia should be happy when Oil price goes up as Malaysia was a big exporter of Oil and now, oil down and where to find money to pay for import so the Government should allow free export of EBN to cushion a little of the import. Bad time for BH Owners only were when price of EBN down but now, Worst time for All when price of Oil down.......... The EBN industry pricing drop is not caused by Supply & Demand but by some people out to be too smart and too greedy. Now everybody suffers except the big traders in Hong Kong and China. The government also embarked on the wrong strategy of promoting only RFID-processed Clean nests for export. The roped in the China authorities to agree to trace ability. The end result is screwed up the market completely. Now we are still waiting for the sun to shine. Would 2015 be a better year for the ebn ranchers? |

QUOTE(West Wing @ Nov 16 2015, 09:33 AM) Just to share. WW, price up and the forum is active again. Comatose for so long. Let's hope for the best.Formally only Chinese buyers but now, there are afew Malays Buyers and they are offering quite reasonable price. Afew weeks ago, I sold some to one Malay buyer at RM2400/kg and they aren't fuzzy or selective unlike some Chinaman Buyers who would take away some very dirty one or too small ones. Hope that you would sell to anyone buying at the best price and not to only one buyer cos in most such cases, he would never offer you the best price as he know that you sure sell to him. be smart and check out with other buyers in the market and you may find that all this while, you have been cheated..like one Chinese Buyer offered me only Rm1800/kg for the same nests that I sold to the Malay Buyer for Rm2400/Kg. I just asked for Rm2K and still he refused by complaining that my nests are not white and feathered. Luckily for me that he didn't accept Rm2K proposal otherwise I would be losing RM4K for the 10KGs nests. |

Dear West Wing,
Such is the cycle of the world. With the recovery in prices, people start to "talk birds" in coffee shops and elsewhere. Soon, old neglected or abandoned bird houses will be renovated to give then a new life. As for you, your contributions to the swiftlet industry will always be appreciated. Salute you Sir! |
