i did a google search. i found this at nikon's website. none of the speedlights are weather sealed..

The flash unit should never be submerged in liquid or exposed to rain,
saltwater or moisture unless it is properly protected from the liquids
and moisture. Underwater use requires a certified underwater housing
If water or moisture gets inside the unit, this could cause the unit to catch on fire or cause an electric shock. In such instances you should immediately remove the batteries from the Speedlight and then bring the unit to your local Nikon dealer or authorized service center for repair.
Note: electronic devices that are penetrated by water or moisture are often not economically repairable.

May I know what is the difference between these diffuser:

> Stofen Omnibounce

and

>  JJC FC-26D Flash Diffuser

The price is different, and obviously the brand too. I think the effect would be different, anyone to share their view and experience?

I'm planning to get a flash and a diffuser. Was in shashinki.com and saw the alternative to Stofen.
*
both are the same in that its main purpose is to diffuse the flash. i say skip these two and just get a flash instead. use the built in bounce card and if there is none, just use rubber band + white card to bounce flash.

are u saying that its better to grab 70200 first? coz even i bought d700, i still keep this d90 as my collection.since it my birthday gift..
*
its always better to get glass first, but in d700 case i think get body first. its freaking hard to find d700 brand new in stock right now.it took me so long i almost gave up finding one in stock (tq fotokem! notworthy.gif )
however, i think nikon wont drop d700 from production anytime soon, they will continue produce d700/d800 since both bodies cater to different target market (700 for photo/800 for video) and 70200, u can buy anytime cos its a new lens.
and since u got 2470 already, can just use the 2470 as ur daily lens. 2470 more then enuff to cover all sorts of events

Haha... for me I shoot in AWB and RAW so I correct it later on during PP. I usually set 1 photo, then the rest follow and fine tune. Mainly because my LCD is calibrated but my camera's is not. Also I don't want to waste time fiddling around the WB since most of the time I can't get what I want as I need to adjust the tint as well.
*
oh RAW, no wonder most of ur pics the color all so perfect haha. nice pics though~

This is the added advantage of RAW, even if you shoot at fixed WB indoors especially with fluorescent lighting will change the hue. Unless you kill ambient light and use flash as main light source.
*
im beginning to get the RAW benefits, im pretty sure when my own company is up & running at full speed i will be using RAW all the way.
that being said, any of u got idea's how to increase creativity when taking photos? what i mean is like i want to broaden my mind, what job would fit this huh.. i feel like im not seing/being exposed to enough things la unsure.gif

The reasons why I shoot RAW:

1) Can't be damned to adjust WB when it requires you shoot many shots at a short time interval at an event which has a lot of lighting in different colours

2) My camera forced me to.
*
what do u mean ur camera forced u to?

to what extent do u guys edit ur JPEGs? since its already compressed, if edit to much will it destroy the picture?

The 40mm f/2.8 can take macro shots but the 35mm f/1.8 can't right?
For landscapes and still taking macro shots, which is the more suitable lens?
*
how much macro u want? until can see the insect's eyes? if yes then use the 40 but u canot take wide angle shots lah, cos 40 on a crop becomes 60.
but if u can live without the macro, get the 35mm, can crop and enlarge pictures later, and its wide enough on a crop sensor for landscapes ( tapi u gotta move waaaayyyy back lah to get really wide angle ).

i still think people use Nikon/Canon based on their own preference haha. reason they go over to the dark side is suddenly they wakeup their taste/preferences has changed. so change lah .

NR's post on D4 launch.

wow...
den prepare to declare bankruptcy if D4 is in my budget den...
quite interested to know it's actual specs & how gd it can perform...
*
from NR:
Nikon D4 specs:

16.2 MP
11 fps
Correction: 100-12,800 102,400 native ISO range, expandable to 50 and 204,800
CF + XQD memory card slots! That's right, the Nikon D4 will have the new Compact Flash XQD memory card slot.
Compatible with the new Nikon WT-5 wireless transmitter
Integrated Ethernet in the camera
Face detection/recognition function that will be working in the viewfinder (maybe some type of a hybrid viewfinder? Nikon had several related patents)
Improved video, I have no other details on that but my guess is 1080p/30/25/24 and 720p/60/30/25/24 similar to the Nikon D800
Uncompressed video out through the HDMI port
Ability to assign the two buttons on the front of the camera to smooth aperture control during video recording
Improved 51 AF points
AF detection range will go down to EV-2.0 (the D3s went to EV -1)
Autofocus system: 9 cross-type sensors that are operational up to f/8

D3/D3s AF also lose to 1Dmk4 in terms of specs la... see the number of cross sensors.. but if you've used the 1Dmk4 and D3s before you will know which is better ;-)
*
all hail d3s the king~ haha
with that said, i do have high expectations of the d4 eventhough im not gonna buy one anytime soon. as d3s replacement, it has big shoes to fill
