seems everyone is busy, no any new post here~

how u guys doing ??
*
That is correct. Everyone is busy.
Now only played once a week or two weeks, also not consistant. Sometimes outstation, played darts more than table tennis.

How have you been, deadevil?

Next "national" level tournament will be the MSSM (not sure in KB or KT) and followed by the SUKMA games in July.

Cheers.

Hey guys. Elderly new member here with a story. Only recently i got took pingpong a little seriously and some lessons learned.

I apologize if my writing sounds arrogant or over selling myself. I am a begginer and perhaps with a huge sack of luck.  icon_rolleyes.gif

P/s : I'm thinking of getting a dawei 2008 xp rubber. But I don't know how thick and would it be ok to use same color on both sides. I usually do things to intermediate level. So something that could accommodate bigginer to intermediate is fine for me. I have stiga clipper pen. One of the players is using this, seem comfortable for me so i bought one.

First & foremost, Welcome to the table tennis thread in the LY.N forum, metalmania.
I am also another elderly social table tennis player.
Where are you located (office / home)? I work in SJ and have my home in Puchong. I sometimes play in Bandar Sunway and once in a while in Puchong Jaya.

Hello Szewooi2001,

Which school in Taman Desa did you play regularly?

QUOTE(darrenkhu @ Jan 5 2015, 07:54 PM)
can someone recommend a decent beginner bat?
*
If you are planning to play table tennis on a social /serious manner, get a decent bat first.
Brands like Butterfly, Nittaku, Yasaka (all from Japan) produce good bats. Downside is the price is higher than other brands.
Among the alternatives are brands from China - eg YinHe (or known as Galaxy in some countries), DHS (Double Happiness Shanghai), Palio, Dawei etc.
Brands from China generally are cheaper with the exception of DHS which is the "premium" of all other brands.
Other brands are Xiom (Korea), Andro, Tibhar, Donic (all three are from Germany), Stiga (Sweden) etc.

Butterfly LAK, Butterfly senkoh 95 and Palio T-7.

I have used the followings before (during my EJ days) - Stiga Energy Wood, Yinhe 986, Dawei Crystal Carbon and Nittaku Rorin.

Hmm.... the table tennis ball bounce on the Donic tables in PJUnion is fast comparing to the tables in Taman Desa where I used to play. My stroke went "kelam kabut" after a game in Taman Desa and back to PJUnion the next day. Same 3 stars DHS balls were used. I think I should get a ITTF approved table instead where the table thickness is about 25mm.

I think Leong Chee Feng was playing in PJUnion this week Monday and Wednesday. Great player but one of the uncle with penhold gave him a hard time.
*
Leong Chee Feng is a National player played under ASEAN school representing Malaysia.

Welcome back Ding. Still using the Kong Ling Hui blade?

K2002, we both work nearby Jalan Ampang (near KLCC) area. We will try to round up more table tennis enthusiasts to join for a session at Avenue K.
Am going there for lunch today.

Yes, Uncle Ling played in the veteran Game at Sitiawan 2 weekends ago. He also took part in the Bai Hui Veteran Team Invitational tournament earlier in May.
Currently he is in Alor Star as one of the coaches for the Sarawak team in the Cadet/Junior Table Tennis Championship.

No more Kong Ling Hui Special blade, I gave it away when I stop last time. I am now using a Galaxy V15 blade with moon rubber on both sides. Butterfly blades are too expensive to buy nowadays, so I look for alternative. Galaxy V15 feels almost like a KLHS but with faster response. In fact I like it more compared to the more expensive KLHS. Too bad Avenue K is too far for me. I just hang around Subang area for my games, at the moment play at my walls at home.
*
tsd,

permit me to suggest the few places you can play in Subang Jaya.
1) Sunway Lagoon Club
2) Kelab Pingpong Bomba SS15 (open to public) ( http://kppbombakomunitisj.blogspot.com/ )
3) Church of St Thomas Moore in USJ (check with Terry the lawyer, remember him??)

thanks for the info pingpang, I still keep in touch with Terry once a while. Ask me to join him for some games but I was not able to join. Cannot commit time because not sure when will be free, so maybe one day I just pop-up somewhere to play. There is another place in USJ, goodyear court something. Not sure still have or not.

I played at the Bomba SS17 before, went there with Sham many years back, quite a lot of players there.
*
I think it is Good year Court 7 and 10. 2 different places for 2 different group of people.

I believe nowadays ping pong is for old people. Most youngster play I-pad and other computer games. If you have the time, there are lots of place where you can play. I think the best person to ask is ping-pang, he is the walking dictionary here when comes to table tennis. I love to play table tennis, it is just the family commitment grounded me for many many years.
*
Thank you for the compliments, tsd, but I am not a walking dictionary on table tennis. There are some who may be more knowledgable than I am like the current administrator here.

BTW, do you know that Galaxy / Yin He brand used to be the OEM for selected models for Butterfly, Yasaka & Nittaku? That's why some of their blade feels / looks similar to the Japanese counterpart albeit at a cheaper cost.
