if u wanna use in Malaysia. the best could be Google Maps
but if you want free voice guided navigation, i suggest Waze

I found that Waze is one of the best gps apps , for BB i rate it as the best voice guided navigation apps..

more info www.waze.com

wisepilot is good if u use it at USA or some Europe countries...

@ayil, waze is the best free voice guided navigation that can be use in Malaysia...

i think waze not using much ram,[your ram memory still higher compared to my 9700w sweat.gif ],

bug..? it run perfectly on my OS7 9860 and 9360 .. although the apps is actually for OS6 version...

i'm just having a bit lag in my 9700w[OS6] .. hahaha..

but dont expect it to be like garmin or papago.. of course they are excellent...

P/S : i still use my garmin on my N8... if not bring my N8, then i use 9860 [waze].. hahaha

you still can get "jalan kampung" in waze , but some of them not really complete..., you can help us to build it yourself..[you can make a new road directly via your phone or from website]

waze still new in Malaysia.. currently, it is widely use in Apple devices -> Android -> Blackberry -> symbian devices...

i suggest you go to m.waze.com via BB browser, then choose to download waze version OS5 and higher...

Doesn't Garmin has an apps for BB? If yes, then that would be worth looking if it can read Malfreemaps. Otherwise, BB's own maps are terrible.

Sure dont have...?? what phone you use..?

In waze -> General -> Choose English as the language -> Choose English as the prompts language , navigation guidance on

remember , the voice only come out when you start your journey.. example : when you need to keep left , around 800m before, it will alert you nod.gif

who said?

i just downloaded for my 9900 and used it yesterday. quite ok, but have to be careful (for audio) when driving because get easily confused if theres too many intersection / exit.

if u can drive and see map or u have a copilot, at the same time, then no problem.

can you explain what the advantages of Wisepilot over the Nokia Maps? , I have tried it before[trial 5 days] but not so satisfied in terms of the maps[maybe i just use the trial version]..

here is the advantages of Nokia Maps ,
1. it is free , navigation + maps + voice + POI = it is all free , don't need any connection if you disable the A-GPS
2. maps is well updated, well I got the update for every 3 months
3. voice, can choose Malay, English, Chinese, and many more, and also will said the street names too
4. 3D maps with 3D building, I believe Wisepilot[non trial] also have this.. but so far as I have use the Wisepilot trial, I never saw the 3D building

well I have used the Wisepilot trial long time ago.. around 5 months ago, so maybe it is different with the Wisepilot[non trial]

I only need to carry 1 device. But assuming to have a reasonable GPS in a Blackberry is what i thought above all more important than a super GPS in a Nokia. BTW i thought the navigation maps is much better in WP+does not auto disconnect.

Yeah i agree price is high sigh.....but not much choice of GPS for BB.

Paid is 50% better, honestly on a 9900 it works well even on free maps. I'm really beginning to like it, also use a Momax it'll last longer & no re clone.

well imo, for 120, i could get powerbank, can get double / triple battery capacity. haha

I thought so too but battery is definitely more chuck-able.

Also i must say that Wisepilot works very well with 9900. Compared to 9780 it will lock very slowly. I think with 3rd party battery solution BB has a real winner with 9900 i'm really beginning to like it. Does everything well.

Wisepilot screenshot lower. On Federal Highway approaching Mid Valley from PJ turning to OKR. i like the 1) indication how far to turn 2) the lanes on lower right indicating which lane to take. Locks fast, search fast, reroute fast, no hang. That is if on 9900.

Added on July 5, 2012, 5:41 amAnother screenshot upper passing Bangsar exit, approaching Mid Valley. Lower right indicates lanes that can be used, extreme left turns to Bangsar, i'm heading to OKR.Attached Image

i recently got a 9860. The GPS for Wisepilot locks with the same speed as 9900. But the screen estate is helluva welcoming. Works well for this 2 devices. I have also tested on 9780, disaster compared to them. So i think OS7 and 1.2 Ghz does help a lot. Or it has something to do with the download transfer rate. FYI guys.

I didn't know how lousy is BB's own GPS until one day I tried one. Compare to Nokia's, it's between a Kindergarten kid vs a university graduate. Not only is Malaysia map lousy, the coordinates somehow are way off as well. May be I didn't know how to use it but I think if GPS is important to you, get rid of the BBs.

I use Wisepilot on 3 of my BB-9900, 9810, 9860. Smooth as silk. I have posted some screenshots. All in one device is important to me including GPS. Wisepilot uses the BB GPS i believe.

Give Wisepilot a try but have to pay. Maps once bought is for lifetime and is downloaded to device. Navigation can opt to have lifetime or monthly. One of my device has the lifetime license.

Hi guy,

Plan to get a BB phone but not sure the BB maps is good enough. Already familiar with google maps (used it without any complain), but saw this news:

"SAN FRANCISCO, June 1 — Bad news for Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry device owners: Google still isn’t prepared to support either platform with dedicated apps."

This mean u need to browse the google maps using htmls??? Or is there any third party apps for google maps?? Or the BB Maps is good enough compare to google maps??. Mind to share some insight of this matters.

Thanks. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
