QUOTE(MeToo @ Jul 3 2012, 10:53 AM) Personally.. i dont think they should call a 5000 unit production "limited".... 500 unit maybe... 100 unit ok... 10 yes... Marketing gimmick mah.... used to it liao lor... For me, anything more than 30 cannot be called a Limited Edition. By right, all watches will cease to stop production sooner or later and be replaced by a newer model, by THAT standard, all watches are limited...

QUOTE(simplybored @ Jul 2 2012, 07:03 PM) hey folks do you mind enlighten me on the difference in open dial and skeleton dial watches? or is it the same thing but with different name? Open dial is when there is an opening on the dial for you to view part of the movement, most probably the escapement... Like this... Whereas skeleton watches has no dial... the dial is most probably the movement itself being skeletonised with some decoration. Like this... Hope that clears up your questions...

QUOTE(yonggoh @ Oct 19 2012, 07:04 PM) The tambours do look nice and i had a chance to play with a friends one once upon a time but to me they are quite expensive from a fashion brand that doesn't specialize in time pieces...though i have read that the movements they deploy are quite solid... dare to take the plunge? They were using Zenith movements for a period of time (since they own Zenith) but no more now as Zenith movements are now reserved only for Zenith watches. I think they spend alot on RnD for their own movements. Costs a bomb though...

QUOTE(Everdying @ Oct 19 2012, 08:19 PM) i havent taken a good look at that model yet, but are the indices plastic or metal? some ppl have said the new BM has chrome indices...i've also yet to take a good look at that. while on the SRP315 they look like black chrome indices. I would have to say the markers and indices are plastic, but nicely painted over. Since I can't see the base material, I can only guess.

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Oct 20 2012, 07:36 AM) Not true, Zenith EP are also used in Today's Tag Heuer.
No more... what is left now is the old stocks. If Tag were to be able to use EP, they wouldn't have bought Seiko's IP and come up with the Caliber 1887. No more sister companies under the LV group are allowed to use EP movements anymore. It is reserved for Zenith's own use.

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Oct 20 2012, 10:30 AM) interestingly, didn't Caliber 1887 and Calibre 36 release in 2010. from here it states that Zenith is unable to provide the volume (target 50k a yr vs a few thousand with EP), where did U get the info? care to share the source? the only note I saw is in Zenith catalogue, that is also vague. http://www.calibre11.com/calibre-1887-story/This is back in 2009, has that fallen thru? Looks like in the article dated in Mar 2012 that is still there, nothing clear from Jean Christophe Babin President of Tag Heuer http://www.calibre11.com/tag-heuer-zenith-merger/http://forumamontres.forumactif.com/t12299...-heuer-pour-famfrom this 2010 article from Jean Christ. looks like its the choice of TAG. http://www.calibre11.com/interview-jc-babin/http://www.watchtime.at/archive/wt_2010_06...2010_06_068.pdfSorry I do not have a link as it was a magazine article I read last year during the launching of the Zenith Christophe Colomb watch. Zenith CEO Jean Fredric Dufour stated that from then on (2011) Zenith movements will only be reserved for Zenith watches. Now if there are watches equipped with the Caliber 36, was is an all new model? Eg: Launched in the year 2012 or maybe 2011? I do not know. Could be watches that already been fitted with the existing stock of zenith movements already in Tag's possession. But whatever it is, I am just repeating what I read. Sceptics can take it with a pinch of salt.

QUOTE(deriku @ Oct 26 2012, 05:06 PM) Interesting to see the bulk of Swiss watches going to the HK market. The Chinese must be spending millions on watches there. If chinese spend on luxury goods in China, got luxury tax, so they go to HK to spend. HK has always been a top consumer of luxury goods be it designer bags or high end watches.

QUOTE(chongmelvin2238 @ Oct 27 2012, 10:54 AM) Plan to get an Omega Seamaster and this will be a 10yrs watch for me. What size should I get? 12 yrs ago i got a Tag Aquaracer and it's out of fashion (small dail) now. If I get the 45mm big dail, will it be out of fashion later? IS THERE A STANDARD EVERGREEN SIZE? In my opinion, 40-41mm is the evergreen size.

QUOTE(Chinoz @ Oct 30 2012, 01:41 PM) All the more reason why you should get a dive watch soon-ish. These days, you really never know when someone is gonna come round the corner and chuck you into a pool. Wouldn't want to be caught with your nice leather watch when that happens I'm sure Not to mention random floods or tsunami... If we can't survive, better make sure our watch does...
