I don't blame you though. As yonggoh said,
Those that believe an Omega Seamaster to be THE James Bond choice of timepiece is a victim of modern day marketing...

I grew up in the era when Bond was played by Pierce Brosnan, and admittedly, I was attracted to the Omega Bond because of his Bond shows.
It was only after I got a couple of other watches, and was attracted to the Sub, and started reading up on the Sub's history, did I find out the connection to JB.

Do forgive the ignorance of Gen Y/Zers yonggoh. Not many non-WIS' will care to look back at 50 years of history just for one watch haha.

And what a coincidence - Bond watch with Bond strap today haha laugh.gif

submariner fanboys pwned. but yeah.. buy what you like, not what some fictitious character wore.

though personally i feel the diver watch style is so..uh.. funny. considering 90% of the people who wears it never dived in their life. desk diving..haha.

For a daily watch, I think it's hard to beat the versatility of the diver.
It will hardly ever look out of place no matter the outfit or activity. Basically, anything short of an Apollo flight to the moon, the diver will have no problems.
For many people, I'm guessing that one robust diver will probably suffice for most of their lives.

Seawater can be a pretty scary thing for your average brand of steel (even stainless). It's good to know that if you ever decide to do a beach vacation, your diver's watch material and screw-down crown will provide sufficient corrosion protection inside and outside of the watch.

Lastly, it's the 21st century - most seasoned divers don't leave shore without a proper divecom anyway.
Since getting the Suunto, my diver mostly sits in the room during dives now.
Still good for snorkeling or a splash in the pool though wink.gif

Why are all the Seiko watches <700 has a small face?

Probably to cater for the Asian market and their (usually) small wrists.

How come the Tissot looks so much bigger?
But their case diameter according to their websites are around the same?

Case diameter measurements are not standard. Some may measure the diameter of the bezel, some include the crown as well etc.
Also, the thickness of the bezel will alter your perception of size (eg. thinner bezel, larger face, overall watch looks bigger).

-Budget ~RM12-13k (or SGD 5k) (CHECK)
-Metal Bracelet (CHECK)
-New (CHECK)
-42mm or less (CHECK)
-Mechanical (Original moon watch is manual wind but you can have it in auto as well)
-Black Dial (CHECK)
-Chronograph not important but wouldn't mind (BONUS)

and you get an in-house movement, not to mention a historically significant piece...

Bare in mind however that the original moonwatch that you can still buy today is manual wind and uses a hesalite (not sapphire) crystal... there is a version that is auto and with sapphire  icon_rolleyes.gif

The moonwatch is based on a Lemania movement, not quite in-house hehe.
And the auto Speedy is noticeable more expensive than the moonwatch IIRC.
Still a very understated watch IMO. You rarely ever see it popping up on Omega ads. I guess not many people are willing to pay RM10k+ for a manual winding watch with a display that will get scratched (harrr pay so much but not sapphire crystal ahh???)

yonggoh,

There was a small discussion on WUS some time back on the feasibility of that AP as a dive watch.
I personally voted it down because of the lack of a functional uni-directional rotating bezel and dodgy legibility underwater.

Functional dive watches should be easily operable with minimal fiddling/fumbling (even with a dive glove) and very legible at one glance (particular the bottom time measurement, which is typically where the minute hand meets the bezel indices).

That AP will no doubt look great on land, but I will probably stick to my Sub/Bond for underwater escapades if anything.

However, in that WUS discussion (and I may also have mentioned it in this thread previously), I went on to say that dive computers are usually the norm now, and dive watches are pretty much a novelty these days.
I have since resigned my Bond to the hotel room when I go under now. Plus, I look silly with a watch on each wrist laugh.gif

This huge behemoth now graces my wrist on dives

Chinoz,

Thanks for the insight. A fair enough assessment since its from your goodself who is an ACTUAL diver. Admittedly the only time id get wet is if someone chucks me in the pool wink.gif Guess thats why i dont own a dive watch(yet?)...
*
All the more reason why you should get a dive watch soon-ish. These days, you really never know when someone is gonna come round the corner and chuck you into a pool.

Wouldn't want to be caught with your nice leather watch when that happens I'm sure brows.gif

Bro if one were to hunt for a nd submariner which place should be appropriate?

That depends on which model/year you're looking for.
The boutiques are always a good place to start though.

any online sites for reference beside mwf?

Ebay/mudah/Passions might be a good place to try.

Time Pacific (BSC, Fahrenheit88) might also have some Subs lying around.
