Cheers, I've actually moved back the the UK but still have my astro account back in KL. Unbelievably, they are not allowed to broadcast live football at 3pm on a saturday here on telly, so I thought its probably worth setting up my astro account so that I can watch 3pm matches online (that is, when I'm not following Brighton around the country biggrin.gif. God, I've missed watching live football!).

I'll try watching it from over here and let you know if it works smile.gif.

You can setup a SlingBox on your Astro decoder so you can watch Astro from everywhere in the world as long as you have broadband.

Can I subscribe under 50% Discount subscription and move it to another location ?

Yes, I did that. Just make an arrangement with the installer.

Hi,

Anyone have a problem during to switch on the Astro Byond decoder? I have to turn on/off twice before the decoder display the channel number. The temp solution is always put it in standby mode. But I prefer to switch it off while not in use. Any idea?
*
Are you sharing the satelitte dish with other decoder?

Is it true the dish type doesnt matter?

Reason i ask is becos am living in the condo. I subscribed to HD eventho i know i wont get the HD channel just to get to use the HDMI connection (read it somewhere i need to subscribed the HD to be able to turn on the HDMI port).

Am currently using the B-yond decoder but why cant receive HD channel. Just blank.

Thanks!

Your decoder is connected to the 'centralized' dish?

I think it is.... am not sure. Plugged to the wall socket. I assume straight to the centralised dish....no?
*
Your's was connected to centralized dish. Astro/Installer might installed/configured something on the centralized LNB to block you to switch to high frequency band (where all the HD channels sit). This is done to prevent existing astro customer who does not have Byond decoder to lost the service once you tune to HD channel since there are sharing with you the centralized dish.
Solution is to discuss with the building mgmt for the i staller to install your own dish.

MP channels were already in TM's IPTV, so I believe it will create a conflict of interest if exist too in Astro's IPTV.

Wow.. thats sad...

But lets say if I changed to PVR decoder, can I still add on the HDD to add additional recording hours ?
*
No as I think the software of PVR doesn't support it and in future is they enable this, I'm sure there will be extra RM5 charge on top of existing RM10 for recording?

Anyone care to share Signal Strength values of their Byond Decoder/PVR here?
Feel it wld help subscribers to kno if they shld call for re-alignment of their Sat Dishes. thumbup.gif

To start, here are mine :
PVR :
Tuner 1 : 141
Tuner 2 : 154

Are the readings good or below average? TQ! notworthy.gif
*
For byond PVR, the reading should be more than 120 is OK I think.

TQ very much for responding, Bro chikana!! notworthy.gif

Yu're the first...2care enuf 2share yr knowledge! TQ!

I've the only PVR in my area & thus kinda lost...no one 2share notes abt my system. sad.gif

The installer set up the Sat Dish by using only my neighbour's old 60cm dish as reference! Even the Sat Install'n setup was at No. 1 in list for Measat 3 & not 3A. sad.gif

Someone even posted here that his installer used User Defined Settings for his Sat Settings...
Anyone can post wat those settings & values are? TQ.
*
No prob Bo zeone smile.gif
From my understanding, someone from Astro told me last time, the default frequency was at no 1 is because this is its Base Transponder out from the other 12. Not sure what is the meaning by base transponder but I guess it is the most high priority transponder whistling.gif

About the User Defined Settings, my installer told me that we should not use this settings unless Astro change the frequency setting e.g. change the code rate, new base frequency etc. rclxub.gif

astro wants to migrate every subscriber to byond may be because they want to convert all channels to mpeg4 format, old decoder can only decode mpeg2 video

astro max users were allowed to upgrade to byond PVR free of charge and without adding extra RM20 HD service

old CRT tv can be connected to byond's composite video output
*
astro max subscriber base maybe just a few k only so astro could absorb the swap cost, but I don't think they can give it free for old generation of the decoder as it subs base is more than 2 million.... hmm.gif

dream on......they have to make sure no subs is using old decoder first before switch on to mpeg4 and to do that, it take years....more than 2 million subs cry.gif
