No idea on how to improve the signal strength as ASTRO management asked me to consult the condo's management on this matter. Sometimes its not heavy rain, mild rain with strong wind - the service got distorted.
Any advice for me ?

I'm currently subscribed to ASTRO Byond but to my disappointment .. my Condo wasn't able to receive HD services and worse thing is the signal strength is pretty bad (ie. Out of 100% is like about 30% in a bar chart)

QUOTE(zeone @ Feb 10 2012, 02:12 PM) If condo's T&C not allow individual Sat Dishes, then yu gotta follow Astro's advice. Guess I can't do anything .. A signal booster module might offer temp solution to PQ probs at yr end but not when source (condo dish reception) fails... Sorry... Just hope that the management will implement any countermeasures to improve the service if not lots more will started to send complain letters already. |

QUOTE(zeone @ Feb 10 2012, 05:36 PM) A good place 2start moving towards infrastruture improvement is at nxt meeting of yr Residents Assoc ie if yr condo grp has one. 2 Years ago there is AGM at the beginning or end of the year .. but its no longer available once they have changed into a new management company. I'll take note of your suggestion.Best wishes & Good Luck! Thanks ! |

QUOTE(MRSamurai @ Feb 21 2012, 08:13 PM) Do you apply those HD Channels as well ? .. If you didn't - that means no HDMI cable will be included and you can't display the ASTRO decoder using HDMI cable to the TV as well .. |

Guys, I have an old decoder - 1st generation with me at hometown and I wish to change it to ASTRO Byond and to my understanding, I will need to subscribe to the new ASTRO SuperPack packages in order to get it ? ..
Can't I just change the decoder only ? .. |

QUOTE(smileguy @ Mar 3 2012, 11:50 AM) If u hv no contract due u may reactivate, or jjst open a new a/c,its not neccessary to go for SP to own beyond however with SP there are savings, compared to normal subscription where u incur rm10 for recording and rm 20 for hd fees, please go for PVR now its rm150 only. They suggested me to take the SuperPack with additional RM2x.xx compare to the existing plan then can get the HD and AOD as well. But need to subscribe with 12 months contract basis .. wondering should I change or not coz the quality of the image is very bad when display over at my LCD TV .. |

Living in a condo with ASTRO installed using the centralized satellite channel. Almost everyday at night with gloomy sky then the image quality and live programs such as (AOD) will be interrupted.
Who should I attend to for such problem ? |

A quick question to ASTRO owners here, can I actually make use of my SIM Card that I'm using in KL to fit in to another old decoder in my hometown ?
Will it able to detect the channels that I am subscribed to ? Legal to do such thing ? Thank you. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Thanks for the thorough explanation on the ASTRO Decoder compatibility issue. I believe it will be NO answer since the hometown decoder is the 2nd generation model that replaced the Philips Decoder and Satellite to the NOKIA version. My condition will be the other way round from (2) to (1) - guess it will not be able to recognize new smart card and the firmware version of the software might be older. |

QUOTE(jamesleetech @ Apr 11 2012, 11:19 PM) Whatever generation box is used, NEVER try to use smartcard from Byond box to Astro DMT !! The SIM chip on the smartcard used for Byond box is different from the smartcard used for Astro DMT ! Even if I may be wrong, you cannot use the Byond smartcard which is already locked to its own Byond box. Anyway, I am not brave enough to even try using Byond smartcard on Astro DMT ! Noted. How about installing the ASTRO Byond Decoder with the satellite deployed in my hometown ? Will that work ?You can only swap smartcards between one Astro DMT box with another Astro DMT box. Swapping decoder instead of the SMART Card only .. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Thank you very much for the detailed feedback. Really appreciate it very much .. Perhaps I will give it a try this weekend and see it goes. While posting here, the ASTRO in my hometown is no longer viewable as the signal error message stated on the screen since yesterday till to date. The satellite dish is powered by NOKIA compare to the very 1st generation - Philips. Called up the Customer Service, but they required me to be there in front of the TV to work on the troubleshooting. Guess once I am done with this issue, will apply for the new Byond Super Pack combo directly with the HD Channels and AOD. |

QUOTE(chikana @ May 8 2012, 10:47 AM) Yes. Walkie talkie and hand-phone may cause interference. If the hand-phone or walkie talkie is too near to the dish or LNB this can happen. Sometimes an unshielded cable also. No wonder it always happened when I was talking over the phone near to the decoder .. Thanks for the feedback .. |
