You can try but it doesn't really help much, sun bathing may damage the filter too.

But still can’t imagine my hepa filter (according to user manual to change every two years) could last without doing anything to it. On 24hrs per day.

I know the feeling, the filter is so dirty but best is still replace it after end of life.

This is my HEPA filter, new & used. The contaminants fills up every inch of the filter.

Imagine without air purifier where all these will be shakehead.gif

The amazing thing is the back of the HEPA filter is completely clean, like brand new biggrin.gif
Everything pass thru was clean as blocked by the HEPA filter.

The main purpose of air purifier is to trap contaminants, if one's doesn't require to replace filter, where are those contaminants going?

Mind to show what air purifier doesn't need filter change? Ionizer doesn't really fall in air purifier category, it only traps contaminants in the air and fall to the ground, which the contaminants are still there.

If you are really looking for an air purifier, best to check for 3rd party certification. Many air purifiers don't even meet HEPA requirements (0.3 micron and able remove 99.99% particles, not 99%) but they showing their filters are HEPA standard. CADR & coverage area also might be misleading by the company. Example as below, advertised coverage area is whooping 2650 sqft (almost a luxurious condo unit size) but as tested by AHAM is 695 sqft (4 times smaller).

Change filter is depends on the environment. If the environment is very unhealthy and dusty, your filter need to change frequently mayb 2 or 3 years. If the environment is normal, mostly for atmosphere it can last for 5 years only need to change the filter.

Just change it will do, you temper with it the dust might be release out again sweat.gif

Lifespan is depending on usage & environment ranging from 1 year to 5 years. Mine have auto indicator when to change it, normally mine is about 1 year already need change as my area air quality is very bad (near bus station & industries area <10km away)

My friend are using the same model but he only need change after 2 years.

Everyone also prefer cheap & hassle free stuff including me, that's why i am using Atmosphere air purifier which need my attention only when it blinks & beep. HEPA & odor filter replacement also consider cheap as the filter is largest & can filter particle as small as 0.009 micron which is the only one in the Malaysia market. If you expand the HEPA filter it can reach 8.5m long.

Yes, i leave it on 24/7 even i am not home or out for vacation. Only off when replacing the filters.
Most of the time at level 2 only 9 watts, sometimes will switch to level 3 which is only 18 watts. If i have spring cleaning i will on turbo mode.

My house using atmosphere but no sharp brand, i think the HEPA filter between this two model is different as the atmosphere HEPA filter is really long and powerful.

Atmosphere is using centrifugal fans by ebmpapst. They are specialized in large server application ventilation.
http://www.ebmpapst.com/en/products/centri...l_1/radical.php

It can run 24/7 without overheat in room temp.

mainly just to remove dust in the bedroom. my condo near the highway so dust buildup quite fast. and i guess to remove any mould particles in the air (my AC is damn old - came with subsale condo) so dunno what nasty stuff in there even after clean. dont have any pets or any super sensitive allergy, mainly dust. if on the light sure got those dust particles floating everywhere....

if it works well maybe will get a few more in time. but dont know if i will turn on 24/7 yet. i guess if every room on 24/7 then worth it. if just 1 mesin. wont be too efficient... hmm.
