u can open acc in dbs with $500. with IPA also can already (for my case)
have your job offer letter with you, you tell them you're opening that account for salary to be credited into that account then you dont need the $500.
this is what i did, i don't know if some branches might be more strict.

Everyday need maintain 1k wor. If not kena charge 2 dollar right

No money also can open. But need to deposit 1K next time at least i think

I was told nid to pay extra, not sure how much. But not all banks can. meaning it depends whether there are partnership between the bank or not. for e.g. UOB card cannot withdraw from DBS atm.  It is not as convinient as in Malaysia, where with meps u can withdraw any atm.

Added on December 29, 2011, 8:49 pm

I opened my UOB savings with AIP letter. Use my Malaysia IC number.
Oh ya with employer letter confirming my employment as well.

QUOTE(Dark NT @ Dec 29 2011, 08:55 PM)
When I only had my In-principle approval letter, I opened my POSB savings account with SGD500 and my Malaysian IC. I think they needed to see my passport and the letter as well.
*
I went to uob and request to open new acc, take out my ipa letter then they straight away say cant, need EP.
So in the went to dbs and open a new acc. No money to deposit on first day nvm, still can open acc but need to deposit it at least 1k next month i think. And need to have at least 1k in the bank acc everyday otherwise will be charged 2sgd lol.

And atm card or debit card can be used at dbs or posb machine only. Uob or others cant, not like

inn msia can use any machine atm jz need to pay some xtra fees

are you by any chance living in the lower floors? I've noticed that if you do, the signal reception tends to be weaker compared to those living on the higher floors.

Not lower ground sad.gif

Please go to kopitiam with your ninjutsu, genjutsu and taijutsu.
Boon Lay area has a decent reception across all 3 telcos. But regardless of area, I'll take Singtel.
*
Outside my blk near jurong pt sure no prob.
But inside my room the reception sux 1or2 bar signal only n sometimes even no signal at all n rarely go up to 3bar haiz, im using singtel atm.

Coming back almost went very wrong lol. Squeezed onto feeder bus at 12.10am (from Marina Barrage). Dunno the uncle trolling us for the new year or what, he combination of traffic + go wrong road ended up he dropped us off at 1.35am at Marina Bay Sands (wtf). Jog all the way in slippers to Promenade MRT to catch the last few trains, lucky managed to get home by MRT smile.gif

Anyways the photo session also bust cos didn't know exactly which angle the fireworks were going to shoot from (first time mah) so a bit blocked by MBS ... but ... anyway Happy New Year everyone and may SG continue to be good to us in 2012 smile.gif

wah lucky you still managed to get back home by mrt .
I dont want to go to any midnight party or celebration d after what I encountered ytd lol.
Wanna get back home around 1 .30 or 2am but only realised no more mrt , then walk n walk to find the correct bus stop for the night bus back to jurong west .
Got into the bus then after 10 mins , bus breakdown ! damn........
No idea where is the place then ask around and walk again till the nearest mrt city hall . Have to wait till 6am in the morning for the first train , reached home almost 7am =.=
almost all taxis are unavailable 99% on call or hired and I think midnight taxi fares are super expensive ?
