yup, jaring is superbly good at the moment, may be due to not many people using it. but the getting the subscription is a bit hassle, since no guarantee a particular area covered.
to check whether your area is covered if you don't have a telephone line, just get a telephone number from a nearby house, and test the number on jaring website. www.jaring.net.my if that house is covered, there is a big possibility you'll be covered if you get a telephone line. house in the same street usually share the same exchange telekom exchange. thats what i did. |

I suggest you should give them a call or pay a visit to nearest AIJ instead of checking via their homepage...
Sometime it does not display accurate results |

i dont play WoW but i play Guildwars instead. i normally get a stable below 400ms ping to the game's US server, sometimes below 250ms ping, using Jaring Flite Wired. no lag. haven't experience any disconnection so far.
i suppose for WoW it should be around the same figure. |

why don't they have map to show their coverage area?
I tried checking my phone number in their site but it doesn't work. Got problem. Anyone here using jaring wired broadband located in Kepong? Aiks...just got their reply after calling them. They says my house is too far from telekom's station. Must be less than 4km. So, I can't get jaring wired broadband....FOREVER..... This post has been edited by abubin: Sep 9 2008, 12:47 PM |

Might ditch streamyx since my contract period coming to an end |

for throttle, I think most ISP throttle your internet connection.
however, Jaring is definitely much more better than streamyx. at least most / all website is faster and no buffering in youtube anymore. |

i think jaring do not throttle . i dont use torrent, but from what i heard from people who uses their service, they are not throttled when torrenting.
not sure about the ip. i may be able to check when i get home. but for sure it is always start with 192.228.x.x |

Hi blackcsc, please understand that it's not entirely Jaring's fault that you can't subscribe their service even if their NOC is situated next door to your house. It's because your area telephone switch box beside the road near your house has already been upgraded to TM's new IP-RDSLAM which TM claims full ownership, hence the monopoly practices. This is one of TM's smart tactics of deterring you from having alternative choices. Consider this a bad decision by cronies, TM's refusal of sharing the building cost of the HSBB network with other network operators has led the way to allow them full control of it. They'll use the lame excuse that these cabinets have not enough extra capacity to allow other isps to lease ports from them and thus no other isps will be allowed to come to your area even though they claim that they make your phone lines capable of providing upto 24mbps with ADSL2+ technology and 50mbps VDSL2 with just a simple line cards upgrade. |

Would it be possible to subscribe for Jaring Wired broadband on a telephone line which already has an existing Streamyx connection? Can a single phone line be shared between two broadband providers?
