Guys,

Need your opinion on some LED TV models im looking at compared to my current Philips 42PFL3605 bought in 2009

All prices above are before negotiations with Legends SS2. The previous TV i was looking at (LG 42LV3500) doesnt have good online ratings and despite its 3mil:1 contrast, the dark scenes are still dark. The 60Hz motion rate is also a bit disappointing.

I need to know which of the TV's mentioned above are good in terms of:

1) Dynamic contrast (min 3 mil)
2) Motion Rate (min 100Hz)
3) Power consumption
4) Price
5) Any other important points

I watch alot of sports and movies which i feel limited with my current Philips 42PFL3605 LCD TV.

Has the TV price shot up recently due to Thailand flood?

QUOTE(Ilianas_Toy @ Sep 18 2011, 10:01 PM)
all the price quoted here is so expensive , where u guys buy from? Just went survey at ss2 electric store near murni. Theres 3 shops there the same row.

1. Toshiba 40inch led =1790
2. Samsung 40inch led = 1900
3. Lg 42 inch led =2200
4. Sony Bravia 40inch led ex520 = 2150
*
I was at legends on Saturday and I got RM 2500 before any negotiation for 40' Bravia LED EX 520.

Best Denki 1U is selling Toshiba 40PS10 for 1899. Best of all, you can use your CC (Amex accepted) without any surcharge to collect points.

So what was the price after nego? I was quoted RM 2450 through the phone with my regular guy. Havent nego yet.

For now i wanna know the best TV in that range mentioned above. When ive selected the TV, only then will i focus on getting the best price. So appreciate feedback on which TV model is the best.

careful though, i've not seen or read Sony officially claimed that EX520 has a 100hz refresh rate.

It probably has 100hz but lacking the motionflow processor, but im not so sure.

Legends SS2 is now quoting me RM 2050 for the Sony Bravia LED TV: KDL40EX520. Minus the DVD player. KLD46EX520 costs RM 3200 (without the DVD player also).

Is the 40EX520 a good TV compared to the rest listed above?

I did not nego yet because I have not make up my mind on which TV to get currently. Still scouting around for the one most suitable for me.

I kinda like the EX520 vivid colour and sharpness. Some people might pass it as too fake. Is up to individual I guess.

Can you PM me the guy that give you the quote? I will be getting quite a lot of stuff, TV, air cond, fan etc so will be good if I can get a good price. Thanks smile.gif

Any idea why most of the Philips LED TV's only have dynamic contrast ratios of only 50,000:1 when others like LG already have 3mil:1?

personally anti samsung too due to the clear transparent stand as my colleague told me that his samsung stand cracked (maybe due to overtighten) and almost kill his relative kid who sitting in front the TV... he complaint to samsung with the photo cracked stand but no feedback... doh.gif unlike panasonic, toshiba, sharp, etc used steel made stand until the base which is safer... if anyone tended to get big samsung TV 50" & above, better get a wall mount rather than use the fragile plastic stand...

also personally anti LG too due to poor customer services at Kelana Brem Tower last 2 years ago, nasty air con contractor walk-in with nasty leaking compressor, no queue ticket, a customer request & shouted for ice tray replacement but ignored by LG staffs... doh.gif

another reasons anti LG & samsung due to the huge variety of products manufactured,i doubt on the QC some times and there may have some of products may OEM to other manufacturers... just my 2 cents...

Exactly RM2,000? Which Seng Q?

The 40UAD5000 has 100Hz motion rate and but whats the contrast ratio? Its only stated as 'mega contrast'.

How is the Philips 42 inch Smart LED TV: PFL7406? It has Pixel Precise HD, 400Hz Perfect Motion Rate, response time 2ms but only 500,000:1 contrast ratio? Hows the viewing experience for such low contrast? Legends SS2 is quoting me RM 2950 for this.
