Muscle gain is an adaptation to a phase that it is not use too, you can do a million push ups a day, if you're not using weights to push the muscle beyond where it's been to, you're not going to build a solid chest

QUOTE(razorboy @ Nov 14 2011, 02:46 PM) Muscle gain is an adaptation to a phase that it is not use too, you can do a million push ups a day, if you're not using weights to push the muscle beyond where it's been to, you're not going to build a solid chest as razorboy says, to build more than what u already have,u need to strain your muscles more than u usually do. but since the ts says he is a complete beginner,im going to assume he seldom does any workout, or inconsistently, so by doing pushups, yes you can build ur chest, but up to a certain point. and depending on the difficulty of the pushup version, you could increase the strain u put on. eventually though,u might need to be more creative and if that still doesnt satisfy u then u need to use equipments. one note, you should search for calisthenics.. Calisthenics Lowyat.netive got Convict Conditioning, and it is an awesome book to read

Yes u can brian but the limits come sooner than body building, so just don't expect the same if u don't wanna pump iron.
