anyone had done luggage wrapping at melbourne airport? will b going to melb next mth and this kind of theft issue makes me to just wrap the whole luggage
*
Can't recall any, especially if flight is late night. But what I do normally is bring along a roll of cling-wrap bought from any super-market.
Cling wrap cost <Rm5 per roll. Just roll the entire thing on my luggage. It is not as tough as the industrial cling-wrap. But anyhow, it'll deter/prevent theft.

Or you can buy the similiar industrial cling wrap from shops selling plastic-bags. Or ask friend songlap if they work in warehouse/logistics tongue.gif But these rolls are huge and heavy. Unless you can unroll some of it into others like badminton roll. The big roll I think cost several tens of RM.
Troublesome though.
That's why I just took a roll of cling-wrap from kitchen and dump into check-in luggage for the return journey.

just booked 2 return tickets(for CNY) from melb-kl and cost me AUD$1.1k.

it sounds cheap but i believe there will be more lower price in oct and nov(like last year) but can't be bothered anymore tongue.gif
*
I would say the price is alright. Last time we get at 1.3k all-in.
We miss the promo price around 800-900 at that time, since some friends ding-dong delay in making decision doh.gif
Of course there are cheaper promo that goes all the way down to 400-600 return all-in, but those were the days.

QUOTE(Kimichi @ May 17 2012, 09:35 AM)
guys do u usually book seat?

or just let it be?
other then not able to chose Ur seat later.
what are the consequences not booking a seat during ur first book?

My second question is on baggage.
I maybe be bringing an empty bag. Well not empty but of course is lesser then 5Kg.
Do I still need to buy the baggage 15kg option?
Or I can simply bring it on board?
*
If 2-4 persons, normally don't need book seat, as long as the booking is under 1 single purchase.
If split purchase, they may split your seats.
If big group 10-20 persons, of course do not expect AA to put all of you together.

Without buy check-in luggage is fine, hand-carry as long as 7kg and without prohibited/banned items, like liquid >100ml, etc.
e.g. You can goto Phuket/Krabi 3D2N with just hand-carry <7kg. Don't bring toothpaste, shampoo, bath liquid/gel, hair gel/spray, etc.

Will be taking my trip soon.

KLIATransit > Salak Tinggi > LCCT. Flight departure is 6.45am. Reaching LCCT at 5.30am (according to their schedule).

1. Do you think I have sufficient time to check in B4 the counter closes? i.e long que,
2. Is the shuttle bus from salak tinggi to LCCT punctual?

Anybody experience this B4? Need some advice. Thanks.
*
1. Do web-check-in first. AA now very strict. Exactly 60 minutes before departure, all check-in counter is CLOSED.

2. Not sure. But the AA Skybus at 1Utama, departs 10-15 minutes late for the 4:30am.
But the bus catch up some time, still arrive 5 minutes later than schedule.

Not 45mins B4 departure time? I thought only D7 (AirAsia X) closes 60mins B4 departure. AK, FD & QZ flights 45mins, right?
*
My last week flight to Phuket AK-826 is 12:40pm. Not AA-X.
After check-in and relax at kopi-bin, I walk to enter immigration, exactly 11:40am, the panel-screen near McD (middle entrance) shows Check-in Counter "CLOSED"
I can guarantee is still >45 minutes, and check-in is already closed.

Anyway, is up to you to take the risk.

Can promo ticket change name? Or top up the different ?

Bought last year
*
AFAIK, no and no.

Can cancel ticket before flight or check-in (need X days in advance, go check). Burn the flight, but can request back the airport tax.
If I recall, need to pay RM50 for the administrative charge.

If another person need to go, need to buy new ticket.

So far, we tried to ask transfer once, but failed. AA advise is as stated above. This was about 2 years ago, therefore not sure if there are changes in rules/policy.

Even with the fragile sticker, you'll never know if they throw around like basketball.
Have to take risk if you want.
Else, if it is small enough, you can try ask if can hand-carry.

I always use a small match box size travel scale. Very handy and accurate. Over weight luggage never happened to me.
*
Me too. Get those 25-40kg mini scale. Accuracy +/- 100-200g is ok, as I try to achieve 6.8-6.9kg only most of the time.
Very useful when packing heavy stuff and to know near limit or not.

okie dokie, will put one inside check-in luggage, another inside pocket and place it inside the tray during inspection. see they wanna confiscate or not biggrin.gif
*
Check-in can.
Hand-carry, if scanned, sure consficate for lighter, considered as aerosol since it is compress.
Matches more difficult to scan, since it is tiny pieces of wood (not metal). I "accidentally" left it in my hand-carry computer backpack before. Some hotels match-box quite nice tongue.gif

Same as a small nail-clipper <5cm long. How much damage it can do ?

I know with a fire from lighter/matches, I can start a fire on board with tissue/paper from the lavatory.

I am planing to kk by airasia a320.

I would like to ask,

1st row seat is better
Or
Exit row 14 (Recommeded by SeatGuru) is better?

I would like to compare the legroom, and the convinience
*
1st row better. Faster exit when reach destination.
Row 14 if remember correct is those red-seats for emergency exit. The last time I sat on those few years ago, it can't recline. Not sure about now.

AFAIK, cancel trip will not refund the ticket. However, you can request for airport tax refund, as long as you not yet check-in.
AA will also charge RM50/100 (forgot) as administrative fee for cancellation.

QUOTE(Shazzac @ Jul 28 2012, 03:57 PM)
Midnight flights for any airline, basically has the same routine.

They usually will serve 'dinner' an hr after the plane is on the air, after that dim lightings bla bla bla and the next meal will be served usually 2-3 hrs before they land.

Not sure if there are 2 meals for the MEL flight or not but i presume there is.

I think it would be best for you to preorder your meal because alot of the times AA's flight ALWAYS ALWAYS run out of hot food. Usually snacks or those maggi cups will still be available.

Try their international meal. It's usually really good, but then again, I feel that their food is edible la. biggrin.gif
*
True. Pre-order is the best. In my last trip, on the last 2 hrs before landing, people were basically fighting for the last few cups of maggie instant noodles doh.gif Total sold out !!!

QUOTE(ken_zie @ Aug 6 2012, 08:01 AM)
Anyone booked a round trip ticket and in the end only check in for either the outbound or return trip?
*
Why not ? Is like you buy express-bus ticket, but you don't turn up to board the bus only.

However, if you know you not going to board it (and not yet check in), better ask for refund on airport tax. Not sure if the flight ticket is refundable, depending on the promo. Also there is admin charge for the refund.

Hand carry ?

Alive ? 100ml water only. That also if you can put in sealed bottle and pass the x-ray.

Dead ? Dry up sure can, like ikan masin, or Pulau Pangkor satay ikan.

Processed ? Budu ? Can, but make sure sealed tightly and no smell. 100ml also.

If check-in, no limit. Count kg.
My friend bring 2kg marmite, but check-in. doh.gif

dead fish . i think arround 10kg ..can ah?
*
Check the destination country if got rules & regulation on importing fish.
Unless you mean within Malaysia (Peninsular + Sabah & Sarawak)
Also, I assume is check-in.

10kg can, make sure not wet/leaking. Better if dried. Wrap 9 9, but in proper box.
Also, make sure no leaking smell like ikan masin, budu, cincaluk, durian, belacan. i.e. wrap several layers using clean sheets that has no smell. Wash hands multiple times also, for each wrap layer.

Bear in mind the luggage handler will throw the boxes/luggage around like rugby ball. Therefore your box/wrapping must be good and tight.

If you mean hand-carry, that's 7kg hand carry limit.

Very subjective, even if the fish is dried. If wrap properly, may not be an issue, but not 100% guarantee. Better to check-in.

Still depends on destination country rules if allow to bring in.

SO we can only change dates now.

f*** man. I'm just probably going alone. Pray i don't drink too much and jump off a tall building or bridge or swim during the monsoon.
*
If you don't want to go at all, just inform AA to cancel both the tickets and refund airport tax. You just burn the flight fare only. I can't recall if luggage & meal is refunded or not, since you not yet check-in, and you not utilise the luggage & meal.

QUOTE(munkeyflo @ Aug 24 2012, 10:42 AM)
I remember being able to choose to purchase new seats before completing web check in. The only thing was that if you choose to purchase new seats, you'll have to purchase all new seats. Say you have 3 people in that booking and 2 are seated together while the other one got seated at the back, you have to purchase 3 new seats, cannot just purchase 1 seat even when the seat next to the 2 person is empty.

Basically what I do is that I web check in half way and get to see my seats and choose luggage all that, then I cancel and go out. Go to 'manage my bookings' and buy the seats there.

Maybe they have changed this, I'm not sure. If seating is really important to you, then just buy the seats before web check in.
*
eh... can wor. I did that few months back during web check-in. 2 persons with no-seat-booking, give me auto seat (e.g.) 32F and 33A.

I untick 32F only, then tick 33B , it charge for 1 seat only. Pay again using CC.

But ... read this. If I untick both 32F and 33A, then even if I tick back 33A ... and add 33B ... then it charge double the price. What I do is, click go back, and next again to come back to same screen and do as above.

Therefore, from my opinion, the proper way is to untick ONLY the lesser number seat and join it to the others, of course provided still got empty space next to it.

I see! Was this during web check in or under manage my bookings?
Cause when I tried last time, they didn't let me untick or tick anything, just gave me empty seats and ask me to choose the seats. I can't choose just one seat, it requires me to choose both seats. So when I choose 2 seats, like you say, it's charge for 2 seats price.  rclxub.gif
*
If I remember correct, is web check-in and immediate print it out. Actually too busy until forgot, that we web check-in, 30 minutes before start goto LCCT sweat.gif

At that time few months back, web check in with no-seat-booking is auto-allocate seat already, as above, gimme different row. In order to choose seat, have to untick and tick again for the seat you want.

But ... another trick is to know the flight pattern and passenger rate wink.gif If you know those flight are empty, no need choose seat. After flight take off, just walk to the back seats and lie down like a Pharaoh laugh.gif
Meal time, if pre-book, just show boarding pass.

Hi, i heard that you are able to choose which seats you want without paying the seat selection fee if you do the web check-in 4 hours prior to the flight departure time?

Anybody here heard of this or done this before?
*
Few months ago, still no.

We web check-in >1 day earlier, still need to sit separate, unless buy seat-select option.
For the return trip, web check-in at least 5-6 days earlier, same also.

QUOTE(Misteripunyaolang @ Sep 5 2012, 05:31 PM)
I usually web check-in about 3 days before my flight, and no i didn't get any free seat selection. Perhaps anyone have a trick that they can share?
*
The trick that I know is to keep reload the web check-in from time to time, until those unwanted seats are taken up and you can take the new row.

This is provided the flight is not full and you have a lot of time to constantly reload it in morning/afternoon/evening/night. rclxub.gif

Indonesia airport tax pay during exit (return trip) IDR 150,000 per person.

Remember reserve some cash in separate envelope and not to spend it.
