Of course can! This model has 5 port, so you can actually have 5 WAN connection (from same or different ISP) and serve clients in wireless. thumbup.gif

The load balancing is very flexible, not only you can do round robin and session based, you can make ECMP load balancing, carrier grade BGP Load Balancing, and policy routing based load balancing which you can customize it in anyway! tongue.gif

RouterOS is even using in some core network in datacenter so you can imagine how powerful it is. thumbup.gif

Reference:
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/ECMP_load_ba...with_masquerade
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:BGP_L..._two_interfaces
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Per-Traffic_Load_Balancing

The license of this model is L4, the difference between the higher level license and this is listed as following.

PPPoE tunnels 200
PPTP tunnels 200
L2TP tunnels 200
OVPN tunnels 200
HotSpot active users 200

I think they are more than enough even for medium company network smile.gif

Hi bro, we do have wireless router here but it's not a gigabit. Actually you don't need it on a wireless as the 100mbps ethernet is more than enough for wireless transmission! smile.gif

The Mikrotik Wireless Router package is now upgraded to come with a external antenna that allow 1000mW power and a MMCX to SMA Extended Adapter to enable you to put a widely available SMA antenna instead of a MMCX antenna!

The new package is improved by the feedback from our customers, the two new things in the package are added to maximize your wireless connection quality, you cannot improve the internal antenna without this package.

This package cannot be found from other seller, please contact us to place your order now!

Some technical correction for you, external antenna are rated by gain in dBi units and not by output power of 1000mW.

What is the gain of the supplied external antenna ?

Actually it's more like a marketing sentence, a lot of normal users seems prefer to learn about the transmit power in W more than the gain in dBi. tongue.gif

In fact, it means the antenna is supporting transmit power up to 1000mW, that's why it stated.

The external antenna is a standard indoor 4dBi omnidirectional antenna, great for home and small office.

Nope, it contains no gigabit port, but you can easily add a gigabit switch for your gigabit LAN network! The gigabit switch is very cheap nowadays smile.gif

Hi bro, this RB751 can serve as your AP but it is a full router + AP, which mean it can replace your router and AP all together into one piece.

Sorry that we do not have plain AP now. smile.gif

Hi soonwai, yes we are planning for RB751G but we don't have a schedule right now, we will announce it here once we have it!

We do not carry the switch RB250GS as we find RB750 is a great replacement that do more with just a little bit more of money. tongue.gif

Hi,

I currently have these 2 lines at the office.

1. 1.5Mbps Upstream/Downstrream TM SDSL
2. 384Kbps Upstream/1Mbps Downstrream TM ADSL

Using Mikrotik Routers we can load balance these two lines right. One more thing, is there any place I can test run the Mikrotik OS before use? Thanks.

Hi Bro,

Yes, you can create two PPPoE clients on the Mikrotik router to connect to both your SDSL and ADSL, then you are able to setup the load balancing with both of the WAN links.

You can try the Mikrotik OS at official demo page, http://demo.mt.lv/webfig/. Username is "demo" and there is no password.

Hi bro, the features on Mikrotik is so powerful that we usually do not compare it with consumer brands like Asus, but networking company like Cisco.

It's very well known as an highly affordable networking product brand for data center, huge corporate network and high demand network.

I sent you PM for more details! biggrin.gif

Surprisingly affordable.. Good option to replace my DIR615.. which is really a basic router.. bad wifi coverage..

Erm izzit possible to bridge this router and my current router (TP-Link TL-WR1043ND) wirelessly? (Currently I am using Power over ethernet to do it, it really bulky)..

Hi bro, yes this is the most affordable enterprise grade router! rclxms.gif

According to http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details...L-WR1043ND#spec, TL-WR1043ND supports WDS bridge, so yes you can bridge both of them with WDS, but it is not guaranteed working as implementations of WDS may be incompatible between different products (even occasionally from the same vendor) as it is not certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.

Hi bro, yes it allows your to create multiple SSID and it's quite easy to do it.

However, it takes a bit of works to limit the speed of two of them in different, you need to make use of simple queue, http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:HTB.

The official set from Mikrotik does not comes with any external antenna but it allow you to attach any MMCX antenna.

An exclusive package offering by us, consisting of a SMA adapter and a 6 dBi antenna, you can ask us to add this external antenna package for you when PM us for order. smile.gif

Hi All,

I know my response is a bit too.........late tongue.gif

I am referring to the statement above regarding about WDS, for as long as both TP-Link router AP is using Atheros chipset (which they normally do for all wireless
router AP that they manufactured so far) WDS should be working with Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD. Because both products are using the same chipsets- Atheros.

However, WDS will not work with different kinds of chipset, e.g Broadcom ~~~~WDS ~~~~ Atheros

So, the point, if using the same chip maker, then WDS will definitely work.

A new model of wireless router, RB951-2n has been announced by Mikrotik recently.

QUOTE
The RB951-2n is the home wireless AP you have been waiting for. It has five Ethernet ports and a 802.11b/g/n wireless AP with an antenna built in.

This model is much smaller than the more powerful RB751U-2HnD model, the RB951-2n looks exactly like our popular RB750 series. The device is very small and will look good in any home or office, wall mounting anchor holes are provided.

Box contains: RB951-2n, plastic case, power supply

http://routerboard.com/RB951-2n

Basically it's a downgraded version of RB751U-2HnD and RB751G-2HnD with smaller body size and cheaper price.

Do you have any interest on this model?

Mikrotik has been updated to 5.18!

What's new in 5.18 (2012-Jun-21 17:20):

*) fixed upgrade problem when it failed with error "disk is too small" while
there was plenty of space left;
*) fix health and poe access reliability on OmniTIK UPA and RB750UP boards;
*) sstp - improve initial handshake to better handle many new connections;
*) wireless - do not use bridge and WDS mode on AP-AP links, causes loops;
*) dhcp ipv6 pd client - fixed ipv6 pool creation after reboot;
*) dhcp ipv6 pd client - added option add-default-route;
*) sstp - fixed connection idle time reporting;
*) fix bad block count not to increase on Samsung K9F1208U0C nand;
*) snmp - fix dhcp lease table, snmp reported an incorrect information
when a static lease had configured different address than current active address,
this should also solve problem with dude polling same leases over and over again;
*) fix RB1100 crash on interface disable/l2mtu change/reboot;
*) dns could not resolve some domain names, was ignoring replies with DNAME RRs;
*) fix firewall log action - sometimes was not logging mac addr;

For Maxis Home Fiber 10MB, use VLAN 621 and it will work smile.gif You can follow the guide from Unifi + Mikrotik configuration and just change the VLAN accordingly.

Hi Bro,

In very short and simple, UniFi stock router is crappy and this carrier grade router can greatly improve the stability and performance of your network.
Not to mention that it contains a lof of high end features like QoS, load balancing, Firewall, L7 protocol and so much more! rclxms.gif

Hi Bro,

RB751G-2HnD/RB751U-2HnD are both AIO wireless router, so you are not required to add another wireless device/AP for wireless access.

You can first trying to change to a less congested wireless channel to improve the wireless signal, before getting a high gain antenna or a better wireless router. Learn about the real problem of your network is very important before you make changes.

The details has been sent to you via PM! biggrin.gif

Hi Bro,

According to information from TIME users at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2189931/all, there is no VLAN configuration needed to dial up, so Mikrotik routers are compatible.

If you need gigabit ports and more memory for more concurrent connections, go for Mikrotik RB751G-2HnD, otherwise you can choose RB751U-2HnD.

Hi TS, currently I am using Riger DB108-WL Wireless Modem Router given by TM. So far, there is no problem with it however, it takes a longer time to reboot the modem which I am quite annoy with.

So, would TS provide more information about any brand or model of Mikrotik modem which is suitable for me?

PS: I am with the package or RM88 (around 4mbps, which is lying in fact with current speed). And I would like to know about blocking p2p programs with TS' product.

Hi Bro,

To replace your wireless modem router with one device, you need either RB751G-2HnD/RB751U-2HnD.

The RB751G-2HnD is an upgraded version of RB751U-2HnD, it has doubled RAM, new CPU and all five gigabit ports, you can read more details at its official website, http://routerboard.com/RB751G-2HnD.

On Mikrotik router, we does not need to reboot the router for config changes and it is very stable that we ran it for several years in the data center without any reboot.

For your information, there is no effective methods to control encrypted p2p traffic even for high end routers, however if you can restrict the port number using by the p2p software, you can do QoS on the port range.

Please be informed that Mikrotik RB751G-2HnD and RB751U-2HnD are routers, not modem router, so you need a ADSL modem other than the router for Streamyx connection.

Yes, yes it is good for a 50 users network but not heavy users. The stock router is definitely far away from capable of serving your network, you should change to Mikrotik asap! tongue.gif

Other than this model, you can take a look at http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2377283, it is designed for medium network. smile.gif

Hi Bro,

The biggest advantage is stability, you can actually leave this router open up to one year and even more without any problem. Other than that, the features as listed in the first page of this post and other RouterOS features are only available on high end routers on other brands, now you can get all of these at this affordable price! rclxms.gif

Now it can support UniFi, Maxis Fibre, P1 Fibre, TIME Fibre and other 3G/LTE with compatible modem, not to mention you can load balancing with them and much more!

You can find more at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:RouterOS_features smile.gif

Hi DSKH,

Basically, RB751U-2HnD is enough for you if you don't need high speed local transfer in your network, like NAS file transfer.

Hi Bro,

It's a piece of cake for MikroTik to combine two of your ISP, however it's highly not recommended to load balance between fiber and 3G connection, as they have very different latency, drop rate, fragmentation and NAT issue like source address, the user end will experience worse connection as a result.

We can provide UniFi setup guide or do it free for you!

have you had experience using this box on a Singtel fiber line, with similar setup - VLAN 10 for internet, VLAN 20 for IP TV and VLAN 30 for voice. If this box works i can directly connect it to the ONT and replace the PACE box.

Hello, we don't have experience with Singtel, but as you said, it's a similar setup, just with different VLAN ID, I think it's not a problem to replace your current router.

You just have to use the correct VLAN ID to dial your PPPoE connection over it. smile.gif

it appears there is no PPPoE on the router, just a straight DHCP off the ONT. I will find out more before giving this a try smile.gif

If you are trying to serve only 20 peoples, both models are fine for you but if there is hardcore user abusing the network, you may need RB751G-2HnD as it has more RAM (64MB).

The speed getting by each user is determined by a lot of factors, for example, even if 15 users are connecting to the network but not downloading anything, one of the users may able to download up to 10 mbps, unless you put some limitation on the bandwidth with QoS. biggrin.gif

You had the right concern, AP without external antenna like RB751 does not has WiFi signal as good as devices (TL-WR1043ND) with 3 external antenna. smile.gif

What is the USB for? Can I plug in a 3g usb modem in it? Can it function as a 3g wireless router also? What's the different between MikroTik RB751U-2HnD and RB751G-2HnD?

The USB port allows you to connect 3G/4G LTE USB Modem and USB Thumbdrive or External HDD, so you can connect to 3G/4G and sharing your files! rclxms.gif

The RB751G-2HnD is an upgraded version of RB751U-2HnD, it has doubled RAM, new CPU and all five gigabit ports, you can read more details at its official website, http://routerboard.com/RB751G-2HnD.

OIC...I'm planning to setup a wifi hotspot...A lot of vendors here use the RB750GL model? Do you have any idea why? Does the 751 model have the same function as 750 model for wifi hotspot? Since the USB can connect a 3g modem, can it also connect to streamyx/unifi at the same time and do load balancing?

Is it include the following?

QUOTE
The Mikrotik Wireless Router package is now upgraded to come with a external antenna that allow 1000mW power and a MMCX to SMA Extended Adapter to enable you to put a widely available SMA antenna instead of a MMCX antenna!

RB750GL is just like RB751G-2HnD, but without wireless access, it's fine to use it if you are connecting another AP to it, however if you want to keep everything in one box for lower cost, RB751 should be your choice.

Yes, you can load balancing between 3G/4G and Streamyx/UnFi. biggrin.gif

Both models are suitable for you! The RB751G-2HnD is an upgraded version of RB751U-2HnD, it has doubled RAM, new CPU and all five gigabit ports, you can read more details at its official website, http://routerboard.com/RB751G-2HnD.

Yes you can keep the VOIP as long as you don't remove your Thomson router, MikroTik will act as Internet gateway and the Thomson router is VOIP gateway.

CAVEAT:

maxis : initializing
maxis : dialing
maxis : terminating... -disconnected
maxis : disconnected

and it keeps repeating

are you sure it can be used with maxis?

---Update---

Got it to work

You should create another instruction for the other maxis modem huawei 8240.

The Vlan is 11 instead of 621

Hi Bro/Sis,

Really appreciate for your feedback and update thumbup.gif , our existing customers should be getting the TM modem, so they don't have this problem.

Anyway, the router is definitely working, we just need the VLAN ID, the rest are the same. biggrin.gif

Thank you!

Hi long2292,

The wireless transfer speed between client and client is highly determined by the wireless client itself, so upgrading the router alone may not improve your performance significantly, unless your router is really performing sub-par now.

May I know your current router model?

This router is very good enough, you will need better client side devices to improve the client speed, examples listed as below.

Ladies and gentlemen, RB951G-2HnD is available starting from now and it is replacing RB751G-2HnD with the same price!

QUOTE
The RB951G-2HnD is a wireless SOHO Gigabit AP with a new generation Atheros CPU and more processing power. It has five Gigabit Ethernet ports, one USB 2.0 port and a high power 2.4GHz 1000mW 802.11b/g/n wireless AP with antennas built in.

In comparison with previous model RB751G-2HnD, it has more powerful 600Mhz CPU (instead of 400Mhz), more RAM - 128MB instead of 64MB, same form factor and price. The device is very small and will look good in any home or office, wall mounting anchor holes are provided.

Find more information at http://routerboard.com/RB951G-2HnD.

New version of RouterOS has been released!

What's new in 5.25 (2013-Apr-25 15:59):

*) web proxy - speed up startup;
*) metarouter - fixed occasional lockups on mipsbe boards;
*) wireless - update required when using small width channel RB2011 RB9xx
caveat: update remote end/s before updating AP as both side are required to use new/same version for a link

What's new in 6.0rc14 (2013-Apr-24 11:52):

*) route - make connected routes inactive when interface has no link;
*) ipsec - changing or removing unused peer or proposal config won't flush active SAs;
*) console - add 'without-paging' to more 'print' commands;
*) route - automatically repair FIB inconsistencies;
*) ipsec mode-cfg - unity split include support;
*) ipsec policy - template matching for policy generation;
*) metarouter: fixed occasional lockups on mipsbe boards;
*) fixed crash when bridge filter rule had action=return for rule in builtin chain;
*) traffic-flow - fixed deadlock and crash on multicore;
*) fixed memory leak on CCR with PPPoE interfaces;
*) improved PPPoE interface encapsulation performance;
*) fixed queues - total amount of traffic passing through queues sometimes was about 1Gbit;

Dealing to buy is damn easy.

Pros:
The cheapest with loads of awesome useful features. Feature wise is enterprise grade. Didn't expect things like SoC etc
Small footprint (read cute tongue.gif)
Great hardware. Won't go into details of it
Great software
Stability is there
Cons:
Not really plug&play and [almost] idiot proof design. Requires bit of basic technical knowledge.
Bland color tongue.gif
Workaround:
Perhaps get some basic stuff preconfigured for you [like preconfigured for Unifi etc] and you can learn along the way [if need to implement new feature]
Spray it with different color then..make a rainbow also can
Conclusion: If you plan to dish out 300 or more on some Asus stuff for example then have a look at this first

Looks very interesting, mind to ask, how do you compare with Asus RT-N16 in term of hardware and stability performance and usability etc...

I am looking the Wireless router to replace my current Unifi Router, i wish to add extend this function for my home network.

1. VPN tunnel for remote dial-in
2. Improved Security Access.
3. Reliablity for use long.
4. Ease of use.
5. etc.

Thanks.

The latest major version of RouterOS, RouterOS 6.0 is out of beta and officially released now!

QUOTE
MikroTik RouterOS Version 6 Changes
Here is a list of some changes and improvements for RouterOS v6

• A new linux kernel is used (version 3.3.5) which enables us to use the latest drivers and support most of the latest hardware
• Simple queue mechanism is improved to greatly benefit setups with hundreds or thousands of Simple queue rules
• Simple queue performance on multicore systems is improved significantly
• Latest v6rc3 adds more Simple queue optimizations, Packet flow is slightly changed as you can see in the diagram below
• v6 also features fastpath feature - a mechanism of packet flow shortcuts to massively improve data throughput, currently this feature is added to simple setups, like routing, bridging and mpls, but in future we plan to enable fast path for more complex features, such as Firewall
• Fastpath is also supported for MPLS traffic since RouterOS v6rc3
• RouterOS is now made 64bit for TILE architecture, that is used on our new Cloud Core Router devices (see article on page 1), giving ability to use 16GB of RAM or more

Hidden Feature - Cable Diagnostics

The ability to detect cable problems has now been added in RouterOS v6rc3 and newer releases.
RouterOS will tell you:

    • Which cable pair is broken
    • At what length the cable is broken
    • How the cable is broken - torn or shorted

This works on SXT-G, RB711G, RB2011, RB750 series and other devices with the same switch chips, and also the new Cloud Core series devices.

Hi Johnson,

MikroTik RB751G-2HnD has been discontinued and being replaced by RB951G-2HnD.

The maximum number of concurrent connection is determined by the amount of RAM and both RB951G-2HnD and 3 Asus RT series you mentioned have the same amount of RAM size. biggrin.gif

The biggest advantage of MikroTik is the RouterOS, Asus cannot even come close to it, RouterOS has so so much much more features but the interface not user friendly like Asus.

Thanks for the reply. I am sure that RouterOS is more "full featured" than AsusWRT. Actually RouterOS may overwhelm me as I have not read-up or tinkered with one yet.

However, I was refering to performance, throughput, etc. Will the Mikrotik RB951G-2HnD "run rings around" the Asus? Both are almost similarly priced but the RT-N53 & RT-N56 are more expensive...

thanks.
BTW, what is a good Hotspot management system with prepaid & postpaid features?

Hi Johnson,

Your question is too broad, what area of performance do you mean? If you are looking for throughput test, you can have a look at the bottom of this page, http://routerboard.com/RB951G-2HnD.

I can't really understand your question about hotspot, I think there is no good system for anyone but the one that suits you, MikroTik hotspot can be installed with User Manager provided for free on its website to have the voucher prepaid system and the normal postpaid billing.

Hi flying spaghetti monster,

We have no experience on RT-AC66U, however in term of wireless performance, I think RT-AC66U should be better.

You should consider RB2011UAS-2HnD if you need better wireless. smile.gif

What's the dBi of the antenna kit that you sell with RB951G-2HnD? The RB951G-2HnD stock antenna gain is 2.5dBi, after upgrade will it outperform RT-AC66U in terms of wireless signal range?

Is RB2011UAS-2HnD using the same antenna kit as RB951G-2HnD?

Thanks for your info bro.

If you mean the antenna kit mentioned in the earlier replies in this post, it is for RB751 series, the provided antenna in the package is 6 dBi.

1. So do you still sell RB751G-2HnD?

2. If no more, is RB951G-2HnD able to upgrade antenna?

3. Got more than 14 dBi antenna?

*
1. Yes we are selling now.
2. No, RB951G-2HnD does not allow external antenna.
3. Yes but they are not for home use and the prices are much much higher, you should use 10 dBi or less in home.

Sorry I mean the RB751G-2HnD with Gigabit. After I checked the details at routerboard.com, I notice in the description it stated 30 dBi. 30 dBi is like very powerful already. Is it true? Please advice.

Got this router few weeks back. Improved WiFi signal and stability ,mamma mia.

user posted image

Both the router and wireless range extender is up for 6 days,this is awesome.

Using my stock dlink wireless router as modem,it was just plug and play.haha

Good product by ts.however comparing to previous MikroTik router (the one with antenna extension ) I find this signal range is much much weaker.

Hi Sir,

Once again, please be informed that RB751G-2HnD is not available anymore and it has been replaced by RB951G-2HnD, it also comes with 1000mW or 30 dBm, yes this is very high comparing to other consumer grade AP.

I like RouterOS, it's very stable and so many features compared to other stock firmwares and custom firmwares. Hope Mikrotik will produce high end AP or AP with PoE products.

Yes, you are right. biggrin.gif

MikroTik does has some high end AP like Groove and SXT series, but they are designed for long range and outdoor usage. The best integrated model for indoor use is RB2011UAS-2HnD currently. smile.gif

@RB951G-2HnD

Interested in the unit above.
Please pm me the best price to johor bahru.
Btw, i am using other UNIFI routers, like TPLINK seems to run for one day,then cannot access the router through browser already.
Any idea to make it preserve longer, and does this router make it longer?

Thanks

Hi Digifriend07,

Yes, MikroTik is a great manufacturer producing affordable and powerful router. tongue.gif

However, we are regret to tell that there is no integrated models with dual band wireless for home or small office users currently. sad.gif

Hi, is it easy to configure this wifi router?
How much include postage to Sarawak?
How is the coverage?
Which model is good for enterprise company? Can it support up to 50 clients without internet?

Hi mashi83,

We can help you to configure free for UniFi or Streamyx. When you are not considering the Internet access, the performance of local network is depending on the switching capacity, RB951G-2HnD has no problem for that for 50 users.

Kindly check your PM for other details. biggrin.gif

hi,
i lived in apartment. recently, my uncle who lives in another block, approx 300meter from my apartment, has agreed to share his 5mb Unifi connection with me. FYI, I already change the stock Dlink 615 to TPLink WR841ND and pair with another wireless router (in my house to act as repeater) and I successfully can connect to the internet.

Only problem is that my internet speed in my house drop drastically if compare the internet line at my uncle place. From Speedtest.net, i can get around 2mb of download/upload but at my uncle place can easily get around 4/5Mb of download/upload.

I believe the speed drop because using the repeater.

Do you think replacing the current TPLink WR841ND to Mikrotik router will affect the range coverage thus I can connect to the router without using any repeater? If yes which model have better wifi coverage?

Hi D.gRave, RB951G-2HnD is better in term of feature set facing enterprise and higher level networking, Asus is better for home and entertainment. In the performance wise and stability, RB951G-2HnD should be much better on networking level. biggrin.gif

Kindly check our PM for details.

Hi dwijadas,

You can learn almost all features from RouterOS on MikroTik official Wiki site at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:TOC.

Other than that, you can find a lot of good resources on Google, you can use keyword in malay to find many information in indonesian.

Kindly be informed that we do not provide technical service for hardware sales, but you can get our service quote for remote or onsite support.

Anybody who wants to configure mikrotik RB951G-2HnD with Huawei E3276 you can try this steps. smile.gif

1. Plug on your huawei E3276 modem to your mikrotik. Your Mikrotik will detect it as E3276 correct.
NOTE: You should see ppp-out1 in the "Interfaces" link. If it doesn't, then add one. smile.gif

2. Configure your mikrotik device most likely with the name (ppp-out1) with the following settings (example only):
APN: maxisbb
PIN: wap
Port: usb1
Type: pppclient
User: maxis
Password: wap

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5RZp8Mfy3...dit?usp=sharing

3. Configure masquerading for your. Goto "IP" --> "Firewall" --> "NAT" --> "Masquerade" --> "Add New" with these settings:
Chain: srcnat
Out Intf: ppp-out1

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5RZp8Mfy3...dit?usp=sharing

And finally enjoy thumbup.gif

To verify your internet access. When you plugged in your E3276, and do a firmware update. If it works, most likely your internet breaks at your natting smile.gif.

Please feel free to ask the questions. biggrin.gif

The RB951G-2HnD is considered an upgraded version of RB751U-2HnD in term of hardware, it has four times the RAM, new CPU and all five gigabit ports, you can read more details at its official website, http://routerboard.com/RB951G-2HnD.

Hi Bro/Sis,

The wireless performance cannot be guarantee unless we did a site survey on your place, as it is highly depending on many environment factors such as interference, placement, configuration, obstacles and others.

However we do not suggest people to replace router for the sake of better wireless, you will get much better wireless by adding second or more AP, not replacing it. biggrin.gif

Other than wireless, MikroTik is well known for its stability and rich feature sets, it has no competition on them at the same price point. tongue.gif

For those of you who wants to configure Android USB tethering with Mikrotik (I did mine on RB951-2HnD) smile.gif

Step 1. Make sure your android phone is plugged into your Mikrotik.

Step 2. Power on your Mikrotik.

Step 3. Enable USB tethering on your Android phone when the check box is active.

Step 4. Noticed that in your "Interfaces" will show "lte1"

Step 5. Go to IP-> DHCP Client an obtain IP address for your "lte1" device.

Step 6. Go to IP-> Firewall and masquerade your "lte1" device.

NOTE: Don't specify your in-interface on your masquerading rules or you'll get burnt. smile.gif

Cheers,
Aik

You're welcome. Just trying to help make everyone's life easier using it. I'm using Samsung Galaxy S4 to test. Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, S2 and S3 should work seamlessly too.

Hi GunMetalX,

Do you mean PoE input or output? RB951G-2HnD supports input and RB951Ui-2HnD supports both. biggrin.gif

MikroTik doesn't manage wireless clients with MAC filtering, but there is a much more advanced feature to do it, which called Access List, you can read it at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Inter...ess#Access_List.

Hi,

I'm interested to get this but have some question:
- what is the different between MikroTik RB951Ui-2HnD & RB951G-2HnD?
- I am currently waiting for streamyx infrastructure installed at my house (new housing area) thus currently subscribing Maxis lte wireless broadband. does this broadband support the lte usb modem and streamyx? If yes, do you have recommended lte modem so I might get full lte connection.
- Do you have a guide on setup for this router and lte usb modem?
thanks

Hi exkaizen,

The RB951G comes with gigabit ports and RB951U is 100mbps ports.

Yes MikroTik supports Streamyx, Maxis Fiber and LTE, you can find the list of supported LTE modem at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported_Hardware.

Yes we can provide you a basic guide once you purchase from us. biggrin.gif

Of course! biggrin.gif

FYI, what you are replacing with MikroTik is the router, not the fiber or VDSL modem.

The model listed on this post is ideal for your router replacement, if you need a better one, you can consider RB2011UiAS, https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2649105

Both series are very popular among UniFi and Maxis users in Malaysia.

Hi Bro,

You can send it back to us for inspection, kindly find the term from MikroTik as below.

QUOTE
MikroTik warrants all RouterBOARD series equipment for the term of twelve (12) months from the shipping date to be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service, except in case of damage caused by mechanical, electrical or other accidental or intended damages caused by improper use or due to wind, rain, fire or other acts of nature.

Kindly check your inbox for PM with details from us.

Hi Tan,

RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN is significantly better than both RB951 in your case and it is definitely great replacement for your original router to improve the wireless coverage. However, to know whether it can cover your desired spot, a site survey is required. smile.gif

The transmit power is the same for them, the most significant difference is external and internal antennas. biggrin.gif

Yes you are right. There is no way to put external antenna on RB951 series unless you do soldering...

Anyway, the antenna is just part of the story, the radio design also play big part for the performance. biggrin.gif

Hi hafiez,

There are 2 great MikroTik models for home here you can consider, either RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN or RB951G.

RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN is a better model here with 2 external antennas, touchscreen and RouterOS L5 license.

Both models have gigabit ports.

You can check out their details at following URLs.

Do you mean IP address? There is no limit on the IP address range you can configure and of course it support all the available IP addresses. biggrin.gif

I mean the subnet mask, does the item support 255.255.xxx.xxx range in setting or 255.255.255.xxx only?
