ya 2 hardisk. I rarely use my dvd drive, so i just pull it out, buy a caddy and put second hdd into it

yeah, SSD prices always dropping, so I am waiting till 256gb go below 300, then I buy maybe from intel, or crucial.

Since i no rush to get SSD since I'm quite satisfied by HDD performance already. But of course, SSD performance is better, but its more of a want than a need for me
But next year confirm 3tb desktop hdd will be less than 400, so I can get that first

ya true true. Lately also didn't play much pc games. Waiting prototype 2 and crysis 3, CoD and AC3 only lol. Now occupied by psv xD. Well i have to say, one good point of console is u don really need to 'chase' them lol. Just get the game and play. Never need to worry not compatible, installation error, lags and such xD

Very true. Currently still very satisfied with this laptop's performance. May mod to 2 hdd with crucial M4 when I receive my caddy later. But really don't feel like discarding my dvd drive... It is quite useful.

i thought of getting a caddy too....but i won't give up my N55 blu ray drive anytime soon.

Why need to discard? Get the USB adapter for your DVD. Use it only when you need it.

Hi everyone, just recently purchased a second hand asus n55sf and it is awesome!! Just one thing, the keyboard doesn't work, does anyone know where I can purchase one? Ideally less an £50 seen a few for £20-30 but unsure

Hello guys, i have some problems which i want solve. I need your help. I have Asus N45 notebook, it works perfectly, but not when i play games. When i start playing games, after about 5 mins, sometime faster, i get a fps drop, 4-5 seconds lag and hizzing sound from speakers, i really don`t know why this is happening. Games i`ve tested: Call of Duty blackops and mw3, gta 4, battlefield 3, mafia 2. Graphical settings don`t really matter, it happens on low or high settings.
My power plan is high performance and games are using geforce 555m(i hope so). Maybe somebody met with this problem and solved it? I really ran out ideas how to solve it .

erm, if you need to replace the keyboard, it will be quite expensive, somewhere around may be rm300, but i am not sure if in UK. May be you can ask at ASUS service center, if you buy it yourself, how do you know it will fit? you gonna diy it?

Well N45SF had this issues since it launched and Asus just ignore it. So we have to solve it ourself. Don worry, no money is needed, no risk of voiding warranty. What u need to do is, go to the following link

download the program call MSI afterburner. After downloading it, install it and run it.

U should see some bar on the left and some graph on the right. Look at the left, u should see three bars, core, shader and memory clock. By default, the core clock is 675Mhz. Ok, what u need to do now is, the core clock, u pull it down to 630Mhz, the shader clock will follow as u pull the core clock, coz its linked. Leave it, its ok, just let it link. Just pull the core clock down to 630Mhz(shader is about 1260Mhz) then u hit apply button down there. Then just go ahead and play any games u wan. Problem solved xD.

And remember, before u play any games, u need to use this MSI afterburner to underclock it first. Well for me, as soon as i open my computer, first thing is open this program and set the clock speed. So that i won't forget when i play games xD.

Look how core clock drops from 630 to 200. Screenshot was taken while playing black ops. Running MSI kombustor sometimes it says that gpu is throttling.

lol. No need run kombustor. Just MSI afterburner. Did u flash ur bios to latest one? If ur N45SF is default one, u need to go asus website and flash the bios to at least 218 or even higher. Coz some circuit problem with our unit and ASUS just choose to ignore it. Had this problem since first week of launch. Went to server centre and a BIOS which does not totally rectify the problem is their solution lol. So fix ourself xD. After flashing ur bios to 218 or higher, then apply the MSI afterburner and everything will be ok. The clock speed drop to 200 is normal.

that's why i was hoping i could match up part numbers and order the correct one, just im unsure if the part numbers are slightly different would it still work,
i would fit it myself, as its easy to do
