*
Mochi , actually pluck their ear hair wont pain wan .
have to get used to it lor. normally me or my gf will just apply the ear drop after pluck the ear's hair...if no pluck it ..then if u let groomer pluck all ..which is lots of ear's hair inside ur furkid ear , then ur furkid will feel more pain ...

hmm tear stain will appear i think not enough water i guess. Hahaha , this wan i have to ask Hun ler.

Orijen is a good food , i think u should stick this brand biggrin.gif tear stain problem , if u always care and clean it face and eye ...i think there no need so worry about tear stain problem d..unless those people just igrone it lor . anyway ...make sure everything clean ...lor , make sure ur furkid eating bowl always clean..and etc ...and use tear stain remover. but i think those tear stain remover which is selling at pet shop now is not tat effective ler...so i dunno which one is good for clear tear stain nod.gif

Tear stain remover won't work wan... all rubbish and a waste of money. The best is cleaning with a warm wet cloth or cotton wipes. Then apply artificial tear drops to the eyes if the dog has dry eyes but actually these artificial tears are best used daily on shih tzus and dogs with bulging eyes... this was what the vet told me lah, I can't remember the reason.

Anyway... tear stains appear because of a bacteria. Red Yeast. You see, if your dog tears alot and you rarely clean the eyes properly, the bacteria will grow, causing red yeast to develop and red yeast causes the fur to be brownish or reddish. This is why you must clean with warm water a few times a day. But there are other causes too.... it can be genetic like if both parents tear alot, the puppies will tear alot and develop more tearing. Another is tear duct infection. But majority of tear staining is caused by Red Yeast lah. For me, my CKCS had that at one stage.... just wipe a few times a day and wash with tearless whitening shampoo once a week works for me.

Read more here:
http://www.bhejei.com/tearsta.htm
http://www.bulldogsworld.com/tear.html

My Chelsea had lots of tearing when she was teething.... but now, very little tearing and she is 2 years old. So it's quite normal during puppyhood.

So its normal for a puppy to hav abit of tear stain lo, coz hugo does had a bit of tear stain.

Even though its gentics, theres still way for improvment rite?
like cleaning serveral times a day and applying eye drops after cleaning.
can i apply the eye drop everytime i clean its eye area?

do i need to use a dry cloth to dry the area after using cloth soaked with warm water ?

My shih tzu used to have tear stain,
he still does,
but better than last time already.
I tried using the methods that i've found on the net,
they really work.

Last time i have to clean Pluto's face twice a day.
Now better already, not as bad as last time.

i think all puppy is like that, when no one is at home, nobody to paly wif mah, so mai sian loh, and start to chew watever things they can find....
Like my FIFI lah, I use newspaper as her toilet. So if she allowed to roam free in my house (when someone is there), no chewing or biting, just come and kacau me, wanna play, then give her chew toys, she will guai guai chew the toys and wont chew the papers. But watever on the floor, like plastic, insects, dust, she'll go suck up everything!!!
If i put her in the play pen, then put the newspaper at the corner as her toilet, and v monitor her, she wont chew also, only guai guai sleep in the play pen. If v heard paper sound, and caught her chewing, just say NO.....then will stop.
If v r out, leave her in the play pen and put paper as her toilet, confirm 100% the paper will be teared to pieces. Until now also dunno how to solve it.
So my conclusion is.....if a puppy has someone to accompany them, they wont easily chew things. If they r left alone, they for sure will chew chew chew.........

if u put the newspaper in playpen ..

cover the newspapers with floormat .. then use one end corner of your playpen to give weight to the floormat ... so, fifi won't be able to pull the newspaper out anymore unless his power is monstrous laugh.gif

Now I'm using floormat on the paper also.....to avoid her legs kena the pee and step all over my house.
But same lah......the floor mat will be separated to 3 pieces, the paper all teared.......
When return home need to combine back the floor mat, clean the paper, wipe the floor...........
many times already lah....now no more alone in the play pen. Whenever i go out, cage!!!!

HAHAHAHHAHAAA .... fifi really has monstrous power eh .. LOL. I'm trying out the pee/poo training you mentioned. This morning i fed him at 730 am until now still haven pee/poo yet. I left him at the newspaper (got his urine stain already) for 30 min .. then i played with him for a while and i teach him to "stay""sit""come""down". Then now i stuffed him to the newspaper again for another 30 min .. see if he pee/poo or not. If he doens't, then i'll play with him again and repeat until he pee/poo.

Added on June 19, 2007, 9:53 amfrom 730 am until now .. he finally pee and poo!!!! ur method really works, joannelooidog!! Thanks a lot!! I will keep on this method with consistency until he is fully trained.

Try dun run too far from the toilet, during play time, carry Hepy to the toilet to smell, and ask him to pee or poo. If he dun wan, then play loh........Then again carry him to the toilet. After meal, again go toilet smell smell.....mayb the smell there can enhance their pee and poo will, haha.....

Mochi,

After meal, take him to newspaper straight away for a while see if he pee/poo. If he doesn't, then play with him and then ask him to drink some water. Then go to newspaper again and wait. If he doesn't again, then paly again. Then newspaper again until he pee/poo lor.

He jz woke up from his evening nap. I'm putting him at newspaper now and he's standing there now. He hasn't pee yet. 15 minutes liao. So, dunno if he'll pee or not.

Yea .. today class cancelled, so i'm home whole day today and tomorrow no class too. Jz sit down and watch his behaviour lor. Play with him .. zzz with him , etc .. He took at least 2 hours to complete his pee/poo thingy ler but at least he pee/poo on the newspapers lar. I didn't carry him there. I go near the newspaper and asked him to come. When he came to me, then I carry him and put him on the tray with newspapers and floormat lor. Then i say "hepy, stay" and he jz stood there himself while I returned to my desk (jz nxt to the tray). So, i can see what he is doing at the tray.
