I don't. I guess Chuah should know. smile.gif
I'm not that good in all these stuffs one. tongue.gif
Yes, once the area is known to have lesser users, no point installing towers that capable to receive multi-signals from plenty of users. In a way, it is cost effective as well. smile.gif

yea from company point of view , yeah,. no point to invest in less user area,. guess i am lucky to stay in centre heart of georgetown here in penang,.. and yet plenty of hotel around too,.. laugh.gif

That's way how business should get their profit from.
Additionally, don't forget these towers are not good for health. tongue.gif

I think I know why my place here cannot get good speeds already with DiGi and uMobile. Must be the frequency problem.

They use 1800MHz and 2100MHz only..

The only 2 operators which are using 900MHz here in Malaysia are Celcom and Maxis.
TM runs its CDMA EV-DO Rev A at 450MHz. One station can cover whole city even with walled environments.

yea frquency is very important note, that's how we get good speed,. 2100Mhz band wont get u any higher speed & good ping compare to 900Mhz ,..

2100Mhz only can get around 2~3.5Mbps download speed,.

yea that's why TM smart t choose 450Mhz to run with in the very first places,

Those CDMA base stations running at 450MHz can cover whole city with just one single station.

But please note that 450MHz devices are HUGE. Design flaw is that the lower the freq. the antennas have to be separated further part. sweat.gif

A 700MHz base station can cover roughly 4X the area of a 2400MHz Wimax base station.
For a vendor that's not a good way to make profit.

Did you asked your sales engineers that question before, Fruitie?

To be honest, I'm not that good in this kind of technical stuffs. biggrin.gif
Probably I can try asking the implementation engineers since I'm closer to them rather than the sales team. biggrin.gif

I noticed something,

if u use the latest dashboard+latest firmware on our multisim, u will hav slow speed or problems on your browser once maxis hav any latest updates via the dashboard ( cause the dashboard hav a feature to update itself) UNLESS u are a Maxis Broadband user cause u hav to log-in using your WBB Id and pw which we multisim users dun hav icon_idea.gif

however, u can bypass this by doing any or includes any of the below

1)router
2)downgrade your modem FW to 11.126.08.03.74
3)dun use the latest Green Dashboard (which includes the dashboard update feature)

my result
e1762 (FW 11.126.10.00.00) + MR3420 via LAN cable

Chuahcs79, I would like to give some remarks about the Yagi antenna you placed close to the window on the left hand side in the picture.

user posted image

It doesn't look like one which is appropriate for 900MHz band signals due to its bone strips length. More like one which supports bands of between 2.3-2.6GHz signals. It could probably work great with Wimax modems running at high frequency ranges like 2.3GHz above.

There's a reason for an antenna design according to different frequency ranges as they produce different wave lengths.

As for 900MHz range it's within UHF designation, an antenna design like the fishbone length is most appropriate.

For 450MHz bands(called the 70cm band) antennas sizes should be like those VHF outdoor ones used.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/70-centimeter_band

Key formula:

C(speed of light, m/s) = freq(Hz) x lambda(wavelength in meter)

The length of the teeth or sticks should be(closest):

75cm for 450MHz
30-35cm for 900MHz
10-15cm for 1800MHz

The short one like in the picture more for like Wifi/Wimax frequency ranges.

[EDIT]
If you want to make a parabolic dish, then make sure the diameter is in accordance to the ranges above.
