No, the phone can make calls without activation.

They ask you, but its no use, by default its activated for voice and cannot be deactivated by the service center.
Apparently they seem to be asking for fun. Because they have the wrong idea.

Data sharing - only unlimited plan
But this is what really happens:

Each multisim is put to a standard voice plan.
RM30/line -> Which is then waived.
Therefore RM0/line
But you need to pay RM15/line for multisim charge.

So its RM15/simcard.

When they ask for 'voice'. It means.

Primary sim -> Currently on RM80 commitment
Secondary sim -> "would you like to mirror your RM80 commitment?"

Meaning now I pay RM160 for voice on BOTH simcards, BUT only 1 becomes primary at any time.
The other can make calls at the rate for the Rm80/month commitment. That's the only advantage.

And no, you can make calls WITHOUT doing any activation.
The rate is for the standard plan rate, refer to maxis website on call charges for this.
The USSD code is to enable it as 'primary' to receive calls. Making calls it enabled ALL the time.

I use this when I need to swap phones to receive calls when my real primary phone has run out of battery.
But not for making calls as my primary have lower call rates.

SMSes can be made whether primary or secondary. Receiving SMS only on primary at ANY time without doing ANY USSD code.

So, meaning that even request for muiti-sim, and "someone" purposely use it to call kao kao, then, at the month end, my bill sure kena shock liao! hmmms, bahaya also if multi-sim it and let other people use.... hv to re-consider for multi-sim liao.

Yes, this is correct. I did ask if there is any way at all to disable calling out.

They said no cannot :s Besides, you're not supposed to pass your simcard to anyone.
Because, they can use USSD code to make it primary and intercept your incoming calls.

lol...
*
ya la ya la, after reading ur post, seems like it is REALLY not safe to pass my sim card to anyone!

Not really, I cannot register 6. Only 5.

:s They said the system can't accept 6 simcards. So I got one spare unregistered with me right now.

Well, I just called corporate services.
The 6 simcards has been disabled already due to misuse.
Now the system will only accept max of 5.

Due to 'misuse' from customers. I have a written reply from them previously that the system is unable to accept 6. So if you have 6, means you got it as a legacy.

Hi MYstombox, i check maxis website multi-sim 1-line FAQ, found this:

QUOTE
If you have requested for a data only rate plan on one of your SIM cards then you would not be able to make or receive calls on that SIM card.

well, doesn't it explain that we may request data only multi-sim???

Any users nearby you that can aid in diagnosing your problem?
And have you called maxis to inquire about the issue?
