i don't think the homemade keycap puller is good thou, it's still gonna damage the edge of the keycap. but it's still better than plastic Ring Key Puller, those scratches keycap badly.

is it worth to buy ducky 9008 s as my first mechanical keyboard?
blue switch or brown switch?
pls suggest me~thx (=
*
It's all depends on your personal preferences, some may find it worth, while others find it not worth. but please make research before making purchase, after all, it is your hard earn money. so don't rush it.

QUOTE(kEazYc @ Jan 1 2012, 10:16 AM)
Any mechanical keyboard can be your first, its all about which kind of switches that suit you most, since you lay down to 2 selection between blue and brown, both more or less are same, just that brown is tactile non clicky.

While blue is tactile and clicky, which will produce a lot of sexy moaning.. i mean produce lots of clicky sounds.
*
I sort of hated blue, next batch won't have blue, since got a few of them didn't pass my own QC, and being schedule to sent back.

Since blue has more moving parts, and QC checking them myself is crucial, most problem are with the clicky sound, i have to press 1 per 1 key to make sure they are clicky before sending out.(problem is time consuming, because each key has to press multiple times for confirming)

QUOTE(lucidlts @ Jan 1 2012, 10:16 AM)
brown will do. blue might be a bit noisy if u ask why.
Y U NO like linear switch?!  cry.gif  lol
what the...
anyway, from my statistics shows that more & more people are into brown switch compared to the other switch.
My statistics:

Brown > Black > Red> Blue

no Clear switches. lol
*
Clear switch are for those that loves tactile feedback, if you guys keep spying on Leopold.co.kr korea website, you can see why only korea has them, because korean loves stuff that are 55g above with tactile feedback.(sort of like black with tactile)

But if anyone that are interested in korean FC200R Clear switch with cheap price, you guys can ask kaiserreich on how to get them. brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif

His cousin receive one on Christmas brows.gif

well if it Filco's maybe i feel more reassuring, since the Majestouch 2 has a new PCB or something liek that?..make it more long lasting biggrin.gif
but the question still lies on the crispines of Filco VS Das..
*
New PCB board does not mean long lasting anyway, and does not have anything to do with a switch.

If you plan to buy Cherry Blue switch, i would recommend you to visit their shop, tell them you're interested in Cherry MX Blue and ask if you could open one box and test them.

Test all the key to make sure their Clicky is consistence, if it's perfect, take it, if not. don't buy it. simple as that, well doing that may be pain in the ass, but better safe than sorry. am i right? hmm.gif

Actually, the clicky sound is mainly based on moving parts inside that gives off the specific sound.

Keycap thickness and space between keycap and switch may contribute to clicky sound to be a little different.(i tested with my spare blue switches and thin doubleshot keycap and thick doubleshot keyacp)

But the "Clack" sound that you made from bottoming the switch on the keyboard, are very different from each and every keyboard, mainly due to PCB board(thickness) as well as plating(steel or aluminium and thickness involved) use.

those are limited version which belongs to shanghai branch, and will not available else where. not to mention already sold out due to low quantities availability.

if i ever have a chance to travel to your area, i would be happy to let you try and test it.

I feel more comfortable than cherry mx brown. and plus the fact more silent, there's no clack clack clack sound for bottoming, the tactile are very natural.

2099 RMB , with Variable, 45g, 30g versions.
ANSI 30g is definitely a collectors item. But for normal typing, I'd bet it is horrible.
*
i think it's still acceptable, because there' not hard contact when bottoming the keyboard(membrane serves as a lander pad for switch)

Based on some sales report i seen, japanese are fond with 30g while koreans loves 45g or 55g.
i felt quite strange that the market is totally opposite between japan and korea, one loves soft while another prefers hard.

HHKB domes feels the best to me.
Don't know what are they.
Specs said 45g, but they are definitely harder to press than realforce 45g.

with 30g, not sure whether you can rest your fingers on the keyboard or not.
*
no you can't, i face this serious problem due to i use cherry mx black too much and always resting my finger on 1 2 3 or Q W E, and end up spamming it without me realizing it.

my realforce are variable weight and 12 qw as zx are 30g. =X but i still enjoys typing and fingers do feel less tired and i can type for longer period of time.

the price is actually OK for a mechanical keyboard with decent design, but then u jz mentioned its not fully mechanical
*
Well, the main point is that, the keycap that you purchase from 3rd party, will not be compatible with the membrane switch.

It is bad from my viewpoint for not be able to change all keycap, plus they look fugly when you could only change half of them.

Strangely, ppl in China keyboard forum seems to be quite hype about it, LOL.

Here is a board:

i think these keyboard are rare and only for collectors. since they have already went EOL. and rarely seen in market. Plus the fact that it was made by "Philips" which manage to let me say "wtf!?", i consider them as collector item.
