This is from the info and email the purchaser received from Lorenzo, given to me by the purchaser.
I was told that the purchaser brought up this matter to the sales person with the copy of the invoice and photo of the defect. According to the sales person, the reply that she got from her technical dept. is that the company will charge for the repair. Reason was that this defect was not brought up to their attention during delivery.
When the purchaser inquired further, since it will be charged; on how the company plans to repair, she could not answer and asked the purchaser to contact the company directly. They were concern of having to pay for the repair and not assured of the durability/ reliability of the repair. Will the problem reoccur again?
They then contacted the company's Sg Buloh office with the photo and receive a reply from their After Sales Service Manager with the following comments.
- the product has been verified as accepted during delivery.
- claiming the defect is a scratch on the surface and since this was already a few months, there will be charges.
- there is no warranty for the product
- the rejection period is 3 days from delivery. And since it is after 3 days, the company reserves the right to decide on the finding and outcome of their investigation. There will be charges.
From what I have seen personally, when I was asked on how to repair the coffee table, I could see that it could not be a scratch as the problem is from beneath the material. The surface coating is still intact. The area in question is a curve along both the edges. More likely the cracking of the material used to form the curve itself.
Thus, very obvious a material defect.
Anyway, I have advised the purchaser that there in no point pursuing this matter further with Lorenzo as it is the company's word against theirs.
A company that does does not warranty their product against defect although their website advocates quality workmanship and material. Quite common these days....
Thus, this

Ikea goooood, just bring the faulty parts with the receipt, they will take a brand new one from the box and give it to you. Did that so many time.
That is why sometime buy at Ikea is not a bad idea. They don't deny and won't run away.
Fully agree with you. I got most of my stuff from IKEA.
