I can't find the link at the moment, but I had written the steps down:

su
rm -R /cache
mkdir /sdcard/cache/
ln -s /sdcard/cache /cache
exit

* change is effective until you reboot the phone *
*
Where is the script (init.d?) file that auto executes upon reboot? Would love to put this in there.

Thanks. biggrin.gif

I keep getting "Service Started." toast notification, after I did these:

Replace Google Music 4.0.1 with 4.0.9 and reboot.

But prior to this, I had my Samsung App updated, installed Perfect App Protector FREE and a couple of games installed.

Anyone faced the same issue like mine? sad.gif

EDIT: Found it, it was the Perfect App Protector FREE and it doesn't even work! mad.gif

Guys, anyone who does not flash ROM every month ? who uses whatsapp... does it slow down after a while? I have about 200-250 chats in history which I had a theory that caused a slow down of my SGS. So I decided to test.

the back up database showed about 5mb. running app's shows it got 40+ mb free. After clearing the chat msgs, and the app db was showing 1mb file... my running memory shows 100+- mb free and the phone's response was way faster. Or am I cheating myself?  Feels pretty speedy to me
*
Yes it does! Especially for lazy people like me that don't clear messages one.

I wanted to test this on S2 to see if it lags on WhatsApp as the DB size increases. But I don't have the device long enough with me, though I have been hammering WhatsApp for a whole 1 week+. No sign of lag at all, but I think I've only managed to gathered around 100 messages.

I guess clearing messages and do a phone reboot would help, but the lag will be back again once your DB grows bigger.

Does everyone use ext4 already? or most of you still stick to rfs? should anyone recommend me why should change to ext4? is the differences alot?
*
With ext4, the lags kicks in at a much later time. Probably around 2 - 3 months later. If rfs, you'll notice the lag within 2 weeks of using it. tongue.gif

Hi guys, it is safe to upgrade 2.3.3 DXJV9 straight to the latest 2.3.5 XFJVA without updating to 2.3.4 and so on?
*
There's no risk, aside from probably lost of data.

After yesterday's incident, I want to add. Before this lags happen, I noticed my wallpaper has been reset. So I did a phone reboot to see if it would go back to my original wallpaper that I set. Nothing.

So this morning, I woke up with 38% charge left, which is ridiculous, compared to the usual 80% - 85% charge.

I tell you, this phone is good for around 2 months or so, then you have to reformat again. Damn!

SGS is at the end of its life cycle and yet I have not found a rom that is truely stable without issue.  MIUI is smooth but the battery drain is just not usable.  Other roms are all about the same and still lag and slow.

That is why I will not buy another Samsung phone again.  Just look at how many galaxy phone is release the last 6 months....its almost from A to Z lol.  Samsung is good at making new hardware but its software leave much to be desire.  With so many different hardware out there , their software team just cannot refine its software.

I'm going the IOS way.

This lag problem seems to haunts only the flagship Galaxy S due to the NAND design.

Try S2 (GT-I9100), its performance is really unmatched! Lag? I can't even make it lag, hardly.

Anyway, GNex seems to have good feedbacks from user.

I disagree. tegra2, even our hummingbird chip is way more than capable to perform smoothly. It is the android OS at fault here. ICS will provide tremendous improvement over gingerbread - though not completely.

Moreover, there will be very few apps that will utilize all 4 cores. I predict dual core A15 chip will rule the mobile market in 2012 since it is a lot faster than current A9 architecture.
*
nVidia claimed that their 4.1 cores perform seamlessly to Android, meaning there is no coding change in Android to support the extra cores.

hi guys, have you tried google currents? it's awesome! very nice for offline reading, just select any news you want to follow, then sync it, then you are ready to read it anywhere!

Still prefer GReader as it consolidates all the sites that I have subscribed to in 1 flow and keep track of read/unread posts.

There are some posts on GCurrent that requires the browser to open, right?

Added on December 18, 2011, 4:24 amScrew stock ROMs and kernel fixes. I'm with CM7, so far so good despite restored WhatsApp history.

Lag still very minimal. Let's see how long this can hold out until it's unbearable lag again.
