QUOTE(godrobert @ Oct 29 2011, 07:20 PM) Hi, could anyone share ur experience of changing tyres from 175 65R15 to 195 60R15 Convert to wider tyre when driving can feel the car more stick on the road & use more fuel.on current Honda City S spec? Some people told me that convert like this is dangerous. Kindly comment. Thanks The dangerous why only the tyre going to 90% of empty. When raining or road flood may have becareful a bit. Cause the tyre more wider and no easy to water get through. Cause I have experience on the wider tyre so I meantion on the dangerous way. |

wow, first time hear wider time more dangerous , lol
expect fuel consumption become worst , every thing is better, better handling, better braking compare to narrow tyre, but due to traction increase may will decrease the accleration a bit , but this only applied on low power car, unless you're driving a high power car , which need a lot of traction to hold it, thus if you using narrow tire on highpower car will slower due to wheel spin. @kimsin, not the tire wider to let the water not easy get through cause flooding, its because the design of the tire thread and of course like you mention the thread finish till 90% which your tire already flat to the road, means that is no more "runway" for water , of course it will slide/flood. are you going to use standard rim for the 195 tyre?
wider tyre is better for dry condition. but in wet condition it could lead more to aqua planning if your car is too light. What is city kerb weight? 195 is ok for 1.2 tons car. |

195/60-15 is 1.1% bigger than standard. less than 4% deviation is ok. your speedometer reading will be a bit wrong
I don't know what is city stock rim width?. if it's 5.5j then it's still ok to use 195. |

This tire size isn't suitable for Honda City such compact car, if you use this tire size, your odo meter will no longer accurate. You should use 195 55 R15 if you opt to use wider tire.

agree, go for 195/55R15, should be a more widely available size...
wider the tyre, the more prone it is to aqua planning on wet grounds... PS3 is a good option, so far the wet grip is amazing, it's like driving in the dry during heavy rain |

Added on November 3, 2011, 4:50 pmActually, what i need is those who have this experiences. That is , using original S spec rim 15 inches 5.5J with 195/60R15 tyres on it. Any unpleasant or good experiences? Thx. ^^ This post has been edited by godrobert: Nov 3 2011, 04:50 PM |
