Hi all,

I plan to buy a cat cage for my cats. I currently have one adult female cat & her 5 kittens. She give birth last month, Friday the 13th. Right now my cat is let loose in the house but since her kittens now can get out & in freely from their temporary home (a box actually), I need to find them a cage. So, anyone know whether I can or not buy this online? Or anyone here live in Parit Buntar who can advice me any good cat shop?
*
Hi Kizwan,

I am selling cat cages online.
You can visit my page at FelixTheCats on Facebook.
Thanks.

QUOTE(redzaril @ Feb 11 2012, 12:07 PM)
Hi there, I just found two kittens roaming around my backyard for the past two days. The mother seems missing for reason unknown to me. They are big enough to eat solid food. I have made up my mind and are going to care for them. What I want to knownare how much is the cost of deworming and is the process really necessary? What else should I do other than that?

I am sorry if my question kinda oblivious to all of you.  It s just that I never entered this part of Lowyat before this.

Thanks

Thanks
*
Good for you Redzaril for taking the kittens in.
Yes, it is necessary to ensure that the kittens are dewormed and vacinated.
Vacination is necessary for the first 3 months and thereafter once a year.
This is to boost up the kittens immune system so that the body is strong enought to fight off diseases.
Deworming is also very important as worms in the tummy can cause a lot of sickness in a cat too e.g. skinny as the worms are eating all the nutrients, diarhea etc
Little things like vacination and deworming will save your kittens from getting serious illness thus saving you lots of $$$$. thumbup.gif
Next would be neutering when the kittens reach the right age.
Neutering would prevent unwanted pregnancies and kittens!

sharing tips:
1. Wet tissue is good if u cannot bath your cat because it just spayed or neutered, or if u need a quick way to clean from stain and odor.
2. aiseh forgot
*
Usually cats will groom themselves so not necessary to clean them up unless very dirty.
I too use wet tissue (for babies with no alcohol) for my daily cleaning in cats e.g. cleaning their ears, wiping their faces etc
Its very useful.

Can we treat worms problem ourselves? What we need to buy?

Added on February 14, 2012, 6:21 pmBetter go to veterinarian. Prescribed meds are the best than over-the-counter meds I think. But first I need to find where vet is located in my town. This is the problem when living in a cowboy town. wink.gif
*
Yes of course we can deworm our cats ourselves.
You just need to purchase the deworming pills.
There are two types of deworming pills that is usually being used which is Drontal and Univerm.
Drontal is much more easier to give as one tablet is for a 4kg cat.
Whereas Univerm one tablet can be used for 10kgs so you will need to divide the pill yourself.
So if your cat is 4 kgs you will need to half the tablet and then again half the tablet.
But you can also bring your cat to the vet for deworming and will be usually charged RM7.00 for Drontal.
But Klinik Yuan does it for RM5.00.

yeah all my cat cant resist boiled chicken too...but they accept raw too..try on quail last night...the result hahaha, whole
quail clear, not even boned left behind... rclxms.gif
Wow.... until no bones left behind?
Is it not dangerous for cats to eat bones? hmm.gif
They might get chocked or the bone pieces might get stuck in the intestine?
I usually scrap off the meat and 'carik carik' the chicken meat and then only served the chicken to my cats.

For me I buy the chicken breast or chicken ribs.
Plunk in the pot with water and boil it.
When cooked, let it cool and then peel off the chicken meat and serve to my cats smile.gif

I'm surprise no one suggested egg yolk. Those Omega 3 egg yolk , has protein, fats, and lots of vitamin. And it's a cheap source of nutrition.
*
Yes egg yolk is good but a bit dangerous if there are still remenents of egg white in it.
Cats can get salomena from it.

cutiepie...do you have any suggestion how to make cat coat so shiny and strong?
*
For shiny coats there are a lot of ways :
Feed the cats with vitamin b complex. Not only it will make the coat shiny and soft but it will enhance yr cats appetite. Buy the vitamin b complex from governmant hospitals as its smaller and easier for the cat to swallow. Next would be brewster yeast. The best would be fish oil containing omega 3 and 6. I am feeding my cats with fish oil. So far so good smile.gif

I'm new to this cat thing. I adopted a stray cat few months ago. This is my first time I own a cat in my entire life. So, sorry for my noob questions. Can I use Dettol shower gel for cat hygiene & for bathing? Right now I use regular shampoo & I only bathed her if she have diarrhea. I'm just thinking, Dettol shower gel might suitable to clean/kill eggs/worms, if any, on her fur or skins.
*
Ooo kizwan human shampoo cannot be used on cats as the PH contents is too high for the cats fur. Please use special formulated shampoo for cats. To kill fleas you can use Machinko shampoo. Very good. For worms there is no shampoo to kill it. You will need to deworm yr cat to kill the worms and eggs inside the tummy. Also dun bathe the cat too often as the cat needs its natural oil to keep its fur shiny and soft. Bathing it too often will cause the fur to be dry and brittle. When its backside is dirty due to diarrhea just wash the behind and quickly dry it. If your cat is suffering from diarrhea please bring to the vet as persistent diarrhea can kill a cat.

She didn't get persistent diarrhea but from time to time. I still need to find out where vet is located in my town. This is way I asked if possible to deworms myself. smile.gif

My cat usually "tell" me if she want to poops, which I will bring her to toilet. But if she get diarrhea, she usually just poops wherever place she can find. I know she will try to "bury" her feces. So, she probably touched her feces by accident. Eggs & worms probably transferred to her furs or skin. So, I just bathed her little bit. Of course I did quickly dry her.

Tomorrow I'm going to a pet shop. Let see what they have in store.
*
Errr you dont have a litter box for your cat to do its business?
Its convenient and hygenic to have a litter box for your cat rather having to bring it to the toilet each time it want to poop or pee. What happens if you are not around the house? Then your cat will poop and pee anywhere it likes and then it will be a hard habit to shake. Better to use a litter box. Convenient for you and your cat smile.gif

Cats suffering from colds will definitely have trouble with smelling.
So its advisable to give them something strong smelling like fish or even better science ad just like what Shukri advised.
Sicly cats will difinitely will not resists it!

Here
[attachmentid=2690077]
Open your cat's mouth
[attachmentid=2690081]
Hold the pill with thumb and index finger and insert the pill from side of her mouth deepest you can insert, if not deepest enough the cat can spill out.
[attachmentid=2690091]
Quickly close her mouth with two hands until u feel the cat swallow the pill. If the cat resist usually by reversing or escape backward, so u need to hold its back with your body or with someone help. My cat omei has no problem eat pill. If the pill is big, break it into two pieces. Thanks to Omei for being model.

Boiled fish has strong smell, i boiled the fish with pressure cooker for half an hour, so that the bone is soft like sardine. I keep in fridge, evertime i want to feed i take out the fish and pour some hot water so that the temperature is ok.
*
I have two ways of feeding medication to my cats.
One using the pill popper instrument. Put the pill in the instrument, open your cats mouth put the instrument and then push the pill inside. Tadaaaaa finish in just a few seconds.
Second one ois take a bit of wet food eg science ad put the pill inside and roll the food into a ball and feed it to yr cat. They eat the wet food and pill together.
Easy huh?
No struggles, no scratches biggrin.gif

This cat is suffering from chronic mange @ kurap.
Dont worry its curable.
The dry stuff will fall off and then new skin and fur will grow.
From an ugly duckling it will turn into a beautiful swan.
You can also help by rubbing minyak gamat on it.
I usually treat the strays with minyak gamat and it works.
If you have other cats in the house please dun let it near this cat as mange can be contagious.
You are such an Angel to save this cat.
Wish more people like you out there rclxms.gif

OMG!! so kesian this kitty. Her ears like buruk already  cry.gif

Pls make sure you wash your hands repeatly or wear glove when handling cats with mange. Mange is contagious.
*
The ears are still ok Listiani.
Its the dry skin on the outer part of the ear that makes the ear looks like its 'buruk' but actually the ear is still intact.
These mange parasites are in the blood and it burrows deep into the skin.
The 'keruping' on the side of the ears are actually dry skin that is being pushed out by the parasites.
Once the 'keruping' drops off the ear will look normal again. nod.gif
Thank God for that.

Hello Every 1, i am new to here and i wish u all can help me with the problem that i am facing ....

I had been owning a cat for 1 year ++ since she was a kitten. But i cant affort to continue due to the healt problem.
I was too stress and tired to take care of her. Therefore, I look for a good new owner and she was given away.
She has been 6 months with the new owner till now.
Since her birthday is around the corner, the new owner ask me whether i want to take her back for a day visit.
I am wondering will it affect her emotion is I take her back for a day ??

2nd, I am buying some cat food to feed wild cat, is that any cat food is in good quality and with reasonable price ??

3rd, Is the cat food NATURAL TRAINER, IAMS, CAT, Kitomo good ?
Because i am buying it for the new owner to feed her .... icon_question.gif

Thank You happy.gif

*
In the first place you should not have given your cat up for adoption due to 'on heat' problems.
You should have just gotten her spayed and your problems will be solved.

I agree with what Listiani said. You will stress her up by bringing her back. Just visit her at the owner's place. I am sure a short visit would be okay. icon_rolleyes.gif

What a good deed to feed the stray cats. Reasonable food like Star Pro would be great to feed the strays. This is what my neighbour is doing. For 18 kg's (big bag) you can buy it at RM135.00. If you calculate its even cheaper than Frieskies or Whiskas however the food content is much better than Frieskies or Whiskas. Others next on the list would be Sportsman Pride, Vet Master etc.

Try holistic food like Evo, Ancana or even ANF.

is that star pro avilaible in 1kg ?

I heard that NATURAL TRAINER which is from Italy is quite famous and highly recommanded by many pet shop, is it true ??
*
Hmmmm..... if she dont want to let you inside the house, at least she can bring the cat outside the gate and let you see it for a while unless.... she has something to hide hmm.gif So difficult also this owner..... doh.gif Dogs will bark at anything and not only you so ask her to be a little bit considerate la.....

You can try to check out any pet shops nearby to your house and see if they are selling repack Star Pro or other food. Sorry to say that I have never heard about Natural Trainer blush.gif

minyak gamat....seems popular best alternative medicine for cat on internet...since Salji
been treatment from clinic first I'm not so sure can be apply after, worriying the side effect...
I'm not a perfect human let alone to be close like an angel...just follow normal human beings
instinct should be... blush.gif
yeah hopefully this world will be full of love between each other.

Yup I washed my  hand everytime I touched her...
Is it highly contagious to human? How bad it would be?

Just an update...the keruping especially at the ears had been mostly drops now  rclxm9.gif ,except under part
that heavily fur....from day to day I'm using soft toothbrush to help the crusts drops...but
sometimes she didn't like it and run away from me.... sad.gif

Last time I've bathe Salji with Sureclean 3 in 1 shampoo(dont know is it good)...but that night she
got flu.... maybe she not used to be bathe sweat.gif
Any recommendation the good brand of shampoo..?
*
Please dont use toothbrush to scrap away the 'keruping' as the bristle on the toothbrush will hurt her ear. That is why she keeps running away. Like i said rub minyak gamat on the affected part. Once the 'keruping' is contact with the minyak gamat the 'keruping' will turn soft and come off easily. Trust me minyak gamat works as Me and my friends have done this before.
