Try keeping your wifi on. Use whatsapp to keep your wifi on even though phone is locked.


Don't get too impatient, its not much really. What I was hoping for USSD support and backup features but alas, nothing.

I m not so keen to update so soon. Wait n see the review.

Its stable with no bugs so far.

Main addition in this update is the new home screen with resizeable tiles, and larger size since the app menu arrow has been moved to the bottom and hidden until you scroll all the way down, so 2 tiles will take up the entire width of the screen. Its actually quite useful, i can now have all the apps i use on my homescreen for 1/3 the length of scrolling than if it were all in 7.5. Small tiles also will still give notification which is good. You can really customize your home screen now.

New bing lock screen wallpapers are also nice if you like the images Bing puts up.

Zune live tile animation has changed from solid album artist to one where the artist name will move across the live tile. Some other native Microsoft apps tile icons changed as well eg. Games tile, Office,...

Overall UI enhancement, im not 100% sure, but i feel like it actually became a little smoother and more refined than 7.5

Thats about all i found out over the last 12 hours or so after update.


I think its not actually a major Software update, mainly aesthetics only. So update, dont update, you wont really notice much difference other than the live tiles.

still need Zune to transfer files? No USB storage as window8? Any Bluetooth file transfer ?

I think you need a app for it im not sure, honestly i have never transferred anything with bluetooth before in my life lol. But i saw it on the main WP 7/7.5/7.8 thread here. juist look around

Anyone successfully force update their Lumia 710? been trying but cant get it to update...

just download 'bluetooth share' app from nokia but can't use it unless got win update. connect zune but still no update

I'm still waiting for the update here! No notification on my phone (I've set it to notify when updates are available) connected to zune also to no avail. I did the so-called trick method also and nothing happened. Waiting very patiently at the moment lol
Can't wait to reorganise my start screen la!!

Ok downloading the update at the moment using the Zune trick! Turns out you need to leave your phone in airplane mode for it to work. I forgot!

Sorry late reply! Have you got the update yet?
If you havent do the following steps:

1. Put your phone into airplane mode
2. Connect to your PC and start Zune, open your network connections too and run it beside Zune.
3. Click on "Update" under settings and give it a few seconds (mine was 10secs) then IMMEDIATELY DISABLE YOUR NETWORK!
4. If you've timed it properly, Zune should show that an update is available for your phone and then you turn the network on again and DOWNLOAD!!
5. Should it not work, enable the network, click any tab besides "Update" and then click "Update" again. Then repeat step 3.



For me I didn't get 7.8 straightaway, I had to download 2 other updates before that. Something called the "Tango Refresh" and something else I forgot the OS Number sorry. But yeah anyway you do get 7.8 in the end!!

Just disconnect the pc/laptop from your network. I think you can do the modem method also but its more tedious la since you'll have to wait for it to startup and all if you fail on your first attempt.

Guys I wanna ask, how good is ur 710 battery life? average usage. Whatsapp, email and check news.

battery life reduce from 7.5....this could be due to me over charging though.

average usage still the same, but it takes a tiny bit longer to open apps from start screen.

Everything else is the same, no difference. Whatsapp, just remember to open it when ever you are using wifi to get it to keep the wifi connection open under lock screen.

Just got my phone about 2 weeks ago.

My LIVE account is Malaysia. Here goes my question:
Are all the apps in Marketplace the same across all regions?
If no, how do I buy/try an app from other region?

Any assistance appreciated. Thanks.

nope, different region different apps.
so do the pop apps list and free apps.

u can change ya region in setting
