Hi guys. =) I'm new to the smartphones. Can someone please answer my enquiries here?

1) 10 Feb is the launch date of Lumia 800 only? Or does it include Lumia 710 as well?

2) I wish to go there to sign for data plan for telco services provider, maybe Digi? There is no plan package available on Maxis, Celcom sites, Digi only offers Lumia 800 but I prefer Lumia 710 until better Lumia series is out. Should I go tomorrow?

there are only Lumia 710, 800 and 910. 910 you have to waiiiiiiiiit - dunno when will reach Malaysia. If you are to get the 710 on contract - you will probably only pay RM499 for the phone.

1. Both available
2. Telco I don't think they open for sales yet.
3. Why not? Go join the crowd.

Thank you both for the replies. I see. So tomorrow I shouldn't expect to see telco representative is at the scene to help us to sign for data plan contract, right? Any idea on when they are going to offer the sales on telcos?

Nokia The Mines is already selling 800 and 710. they have two 800 demo units available for people to play around - damn that thing is fast and small and solid . No 710 on demo. No freebieessssssss Price is 1650 and 999 ... bOOOOOOOOOOOOO . i did not buy any. waiting for Lumia 800 to drop below RM1000 and checking how 910 will be priced.
Maxis, Digi, Celcom and Umobile at The Mines do not sell Lumia. kena perli summore from Digi salesperson - the phone is not even out yet he said - i bet he has not been to Digi.com for a year or so !! hahahah
*
Ohh..I see. sweat.gif How come the Digi salesperson so outdated and rude? vmad.gif Guess I have to wait for a while if I have to sign as contract.

Anyway, thank you! smile.gif

Hmmm... monthly hav to pay hw much for da 1GB plan o?? da website nvr stated clearly one
*
Correct me if I'm wrong. The 1GB data plan cost RM48/month, plus you need to choose another postpaid rate plan which the minimum cost you can find is the Value First plan - RM30/month

So total the minimum cost for Maxis is RM78/month smile.gif

It is very unfortunate that the Lumia 710 is only offered by the Maxis. And I thought Lumia 710 will be a very attracting Window Phone for those whose budgets are below RM1k. I was planning to buy Lumia 710 on contract with Digi, since their SmartPlan charges calls and sms separately. It's because I am having another hotlink youth club number, the calls and smses I made with the hotlink number will be cheaper.

My initial plan is to get a Lumia 710 first and then look for Lumia 900 in the future. So now if I still have to stick with Digi then I have to buy Lumia 800 now. I feel abit helpless right now, don't know what to do. cry.gif

Do you guys have any advice for my situation right now? icon_question.gif

if you intend to get lumia 900 then might as well wait for it since it's rumored to come around april?
*
Thanks for your reply. Is it going to be that fast?? It will be released in US in March if I'm not mistaken. When is the time it will reach Malaysia? But I'm in quite an urgent use of smartphones right now..guess I'm gonna go for Lumia 800 after all.

Anyone who bought Lumia 800 on contract with Digi? Is black colour the only colour they are offering right now?

Why don't you ask them and tell us?? I wanna know.. It's kinda dissapointing if only the black one is available..
*
Yes, I am planning to ask. Just that I'm not very mobile at the moment. The places I could ask is limited. Anyway, if I happen to know more details, I am sure will share with everyone here. smile.gif

Went to Digi and Maxis store in Mines yesterday but there is no Lumia to buy on contract. I was told that they have no idea also when will the Lumia stocks arrive. I'm surprised when I went to some stores, the staffs don't even know what Lumia is.

Kinda disappointed. sad.gif Very eager to get my hand on my own Lumia now!

Any particular reason why you re not getting the Lumia from Digi's online store? You want none black color Lumia?

http://www.digi.com.my/PhonesDevices/Nokia_Lumia800.do
*
Yes, I do prefer the cyan colour of Lumia 800. But I'm not sure whether Digi is gonna to offer this colour after all. If Digi is not offering other colours, it will be a waste for me to wait so long for it. cry.gif

Just got my Lumia 800 with Digi contract. But how come I can't charge the battery while switching off the phone. The phone will automatically switch on after I turn it off. Is it the way Nokia smartphones are nowadays? Or my device is faulty?

And is there any sign of charging when the phone is turned off? Can anyone please enlighten me?

If there is none, then is Digi offering the service for me to monitor how much had I used for the internet data per month? How do I check it?

Thanks. smile.gif

Hi guys, Lumia 800 black owner here. Nice to meet you all. smile.gif

Just got my phone yesterday on contract with Digi. I'm still loving it till now, but I notify some battery issues, the phone was draining the battery power in quick pace after one night.

I have some questions here. Are there any apps for me to monitor my data usage? I am very scared I can use all the data in the blink of eyes. Can I check with Digi for my data usage as well? Please enlighten my problem. Sorry I'm still newbie for smartphones. sad.gif

Any of you guys aplly any screen protector? Cuz I couldn't find any both at Digital Mall and LYP. The only have is that they need to cut it to fit the L800.

I've found out screen protector from the net

http://www.clarivue.com/nokia-lumia-800-pr...-protector.html

What do you guys think?

For the update to latest firmware, I'm also tried it last night (my ID is singapore and my set from Nokia Store Malaysia). IMHO it will roll out soon for Malaysia set, yes?
*
Last time I asked, there is screen protector selling in Midvalley Nokia store. RM30, didn't buy it as I thought it's kinda pricey, although it's the standard price.

Make sure the screen protector cover everything from the corner of the gorilla glass to the its diagonal corner on the screen. There is screen protector which is only covering the AMOLED touchscreen and excluding the 3 buttons below all those, which is for me it is not very ideal. smile.gif

I found that internet with Digi is extremely slow. It takes like a full minute to load google.com
Is it firmware problem?

I've got 3 navigation tools in my phone, Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps, and Maps.
When I turn off my data connection and Wifi, Nokia drive and Maps does not work, only Nokia Maps works, and it does follow the satellite signal on the move. So is Nokia Maps works in offline mode?

How is the data charge for using Nokia drive or Maps? I've browse through this topic, not quite sure about the thing Optiplex mentioned, regarding the A-GPS. Isn't A-GPS turned on by default?

Appreciate all advises, as Iam new to this handset. biggrin.gif

Edit : I don't seems to have any problem with the battery life, whole night with WiFi and Data connection off, only drops like 2-3%. Not quite sure about it, as I've only gone through 2 nights.

Hi there. I think one of the sifus ady stated here, you need to do a hard reset on the phone and DO NOT run the Network Setup, better if you uninstall it. Did you try that?

I'm a Digi user myself also. Tried that workaround. And thanks to him and now it seems to have improved my data connection speed.

Another thing is whenever you need to do a hard reset, you can download Reinstaller the app, which can help you install back all the previous you had installed last time.

And that's strange because according to Nokia website, you need an online connection with Nokia Maps. The map data is streamed on as needed basis and it is not cached. I'm not sure how the data charge of using it. Maybe one of the sifus here can enlighten your problem. smile.gif

telco menu can never be fix. it is an os issue. heard that there used to be a ussd reader app.

for digi i use *#128*1*1# to check usage. it will work if u know how to execute the short codes to the telco menu to the exact function.
*
Thanks. smile.gif Didn't know that until you posted it here. Can I ask, is there any way for me to check the data usage? For Digi. I'm always careful with my data usage because I scared I might use too much at a time but then I scare I didn't really utilize the data plan given to me.

Please enlighten my problem. Thank you! biggrin.gif
