I read through one of the lowyat post, i think is "GT540m POISON". That is the post where GT540m users share their gaming experience.

One of the pro user use software to test the temperature of the GPU. The temperature reached about 81 degree when playing games. (i think the games is Battlefield). Is that consider hot or normal?

Apparently GT540M has many user compare to AMD 6730M. Is it because AMD 6730M new GPU?

There are people saying that Intel I5 with NV card is better, compare to I5 with AMD card. Myth or truth? hmm.gif

I now have a laptop, compaq CQ40 (AMD Turion + ATI Radeon HD3200). The laptop is very hot and noise when running heavy application or games. I am not sure it is due to CPU or GPU.

MY priority concern is reliability, coolness and noise level. I want the GPU to be reliable, quiet, not hot / less power consumption.

Among NV GT540M and AMD 6730M which one will you guys suggest?

GT 540M is popular because there are lots of manufacturer uses it. Probably they getting some discount when buying in bulk or something.

81C is quite high, but acceptable. It could run up to 110C before it start taking damage, not permanent but it will reduce lifespan. Laptop component could handle more heat than desktop counterparts.

The heat from CQ40 is due to CPU mostly, but cooling in that laptop aren't good as well.

There isn't any myth, its just common misconception of people thinking some combo works better than others.

Any dedicated GPU uses more power and produce more heat than an integrated GPU. Its not purely depends on the GPU or CPU in the laptop that leads to heat, but also chassis design and also heatsink fan that uses to cool them down. So its just a matter of reading the review of the actual laptop could determine whether it would run cool or it will poaching your eggs.

Its up to you really, read reviews on HD 6730M performance here and GT 540M performance here.

My fren also told me the same thing. He said there must be something wrong with the chassis design and also heatsink fan of CQ40.

So far the laptop Asus A43SA (AMD 6730m) and A43SV (NV GT540m) is ok in the market? no negative feedback?
