hi guys. its always debatable which one is the good graphic card for our laptop/PC. currently im searching laptop and I choose ASUS. now, what confusing me is the graphic card for the laptop. im not heavy gamer, but at least i can play COD: black ops on my laptop at least medium setting tongue.gif These are my choices (both can play in high setting sweat.gif );

does the windows exp index matter? gaming graphics for ATI and Nvidia is 6.8 and 6.7 respectively and graphic desktop performance for aero is 6.5 and 5.7 respectively blink.gif

as I ask salesperson. most of them recommend me to buy ATI. its hardly to find ASUS performance series using ATI, most of them GeForce GT 520M to 540M. there are only one using ATI which is Radeon HD 6370M. as i read the review on notebookcheck.com, the gc mostly the same.

ATI link >>> http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD...0M.43959.0.html

Nvidia link >>> http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForc...0M.41715.0.html

these are the rumours/myth that i heard about ATI VS NVidia.

1. ATI always go on performance compare than Nvidia. Nvidia mostly view the graphics setting Ultra in most games but the performance, gameplay smoothness always win for ATI.

2. ATI is more have more lifespan compare than Nvidia due to when running laptop at normal status, ATI will go operating on intergrated gc, while Nvidia cannot.

3. Most games recommends Nvidia?

This is what i heard, this doesnt mean I am bias towards ATI, but this is what i heard from salesperson and some read on the intehnet.

sorry for the lengthy post notworthy.gif

thanks in advance for ur view its really hard for me to choose between two blush.gif

1. Its nVidia that goes to the performance, with more cost.
2. Both can switch integrated/dedicated GPU.
3. nVidia pays a lot laugh.gif

Performance wise, it's a close call.

What is the price for both?
If the ATI one is cheaper, you should go for it.

If the price is almost the same, personally, I'd vote for nVidia.
For it's superior driver.

Just some recent reviews on AMD & nVidia driver.

Asus A43SA-VX038V = 640GB HDD + 2GB VRAM

ASUS A43SU-VX203U = 500GB HDD + 1GB VRAM

that is why the price is different

Nvidia latest creation would be Batman Arkham City. Interesting to see how the game will perform with AMD graphics. laugh.gif
6730M is DDR3 version of 6770M.

+1 on AMD driver support being inferior but i honestly think their drivers did improved in the past 6 months. There are behind 1 or 2 steps.

The flickering issue on my Radeon5650 has not been fixed. It's already EOL now. laugh.gif

It's more important to compare against that 2 GPU head to head (instead of generally about AMD and nVidia):

In term of performance, 6730 will win most of them time against 540m. Look at the comparison in the graph below, 540m win only in 2 areas.

This is consistent with my understanding that 540m is just a rebanding (and increased clock speed) of old GT 420M. They both have 96 cores.

GeForce GT 540M 96@672MHz
GeForce GT 420M 96@500MHz

It's proven in multiple times that my old AMD 5650 (OC) can beat all GT 540M (OC). My AMD 5650 only has 400 cores: Mobility Radeon HD 5650 400@450-650MHz

My challenge still open for any 540m owner:

Street Fighter 4 score: 12391 (1366x768)
3dmark Vantage: P5035
3dmark 11:P1455
- Graphic score: 1352

The AMD 6730 with 480@725MHz will surely performance better than both 5650 and 540m.

Maybe the overclockability on that HD6730M is as good as HD6770M. What matters now is the temperature. laugh.gif
