can somebody help me, who using Maxis Hotlink with Nokia N8 go to:

Settings > Connectivity > Admin. settings > Mobile Data

what they put at

Mobile data connection
Access point
High speed packet access

i multiple check at my "Access point" at "Network destinations" my "3G Maxis Internet" seems nothing wrong..

APN : unet
Username : none
password : none

i dont remember b4 switch to Prepaid Plan today got Username : maxis & password : wap.. N switched back to Hotlink Plan..

The story is like this:
this afternoon. I received 30 days Internet Pass with special price RM20 with 1.5GB quota (*136*3#), and i subscribe to this plan. n change my plan to Prepaid Broadband ( i thought), change unet to bbnet but still failed to connect the internet..

then messed up a bit at Network destinations.. then maxis called me cos i report at maxis, change back to Hotlink Plan cos Internet Prepaid not suitable for HP. then i change back to Hotlink Plan, n until now, i cant connect to internet..  sweat.gif b4 this no problem..

how can i solve this? thanks bro2 sume..

Notice one thing while overseas. My setting was:
1. 2G
2. Mobile data off
3. Wifi off
4. Bluetooth off
5. Standby and not touching the screen.

Using Battery Monitor which i reckon is very accurate, it consume less than 0.5% of battery per hour. So theoretically the phone can last 50 hours or 4 days.

But with Mobile Data 'on' and email set to auto-retrieval, it consume 1 - 1.5% per hour.

last friday, i got my self a galaxy nexus, it took me just a few day to realize tat ive done a big mistake, android is just rubbish, at least the battery life, the battery life is a horror. Whats the point having a beatiful phone but u not gonna able to use it due to the battery is always flat. You always gonna hav to charge your phone every 3 hour. Tats freaking annoying. Im glad i waste rm150 just to get rid of it. Now im back with my beloved n8, if lets say i want to upgrade, its surely gonna be the 808.

Yes i a proud symbian user, symbian rawk other can gth.. Beside bb lol..

May be you have too many widget or apps constantly going online and auto-updating stuff?

I will never ever consider a phone with fixed focus camera because I consider them totally unacceptable primarily because I often take photos of documents. I can't understand why anyone would consider them 'good camera'.

How often do you need multi-tasking capability of the N8?

I could live without this feature and in fact find it annoying. Whenever I move to a different application and if I don't close the 1st one properly, it still run in the background sucking battery with Maps the main culprit. Come to think of it, iphone is right and by doing so, makes the phone much faster etc. So can we set our N8 to be Single-Tasking?

Nope. Manually close the application.

I like the multitasking = surf 9gag in Opera, change to whatsapp, change to sms, make a call, change the track i'm playing, then change back to 9gag. Super.

don't think your battery can keep up for entire day. I am willing to forgo multitasking for better battery life. Without battery, all phone becomes mere junk.

the maps is not automatic. you launch it.
same as other apps. its manual launch unless coded to start at startup (fring..or whatsapp...).

the keyword here is choice, you can opt to multi task or you can easily close any task.
battery is another factor.

iphone did not give that option not because of battery life. google around and read about the technology, after all, iphone is an ipod with phone capability from the start.

I do not have a choice of not wanting multi-tasking. I want my phone to be:
1. Fast
2. Responsive
3. Most of the time, I forgot the apps is still running in the background so consuming battery.

aa to each his own. N8 is fast and responsive enough for me and battery is not an issue as i can charge practically anytime, anyplace. ( car, home, office).

thats why we buy gadget for the key functionalities. to me n8 camera, ovi maps, hdmi output, fm transmitter, awesome headphone, true multitasking far outweighs battery consumption issue ( which to me not an issue at all, but then thats subjective).

do pick your gadget based on your 1 and 2 choice. ( actually n9 is very good for that)
*
How to charge your phone when you are on the road especially overseas? Only practical when you are in your home or office or in your own car or your boat or whatever that is your domain.

If Maps is important, N8 is better than N9 especially if you upgrade it to Maps Suite 2.0. I should know because I got both with N9 having serious problem in Maps/Favorites.

But I have to admit with N8 Belle, things are much smoother now. But somehow, not quite up there with iphone yet in comparison.

Multi-tasking is a choice. And as a user I think you should be in control of multi-tasking. For example, I know my phone is weak. I exit every app properly when I'm done.
*
I can't switch to single tasking so there are no choice.

you can exit every app after you are done. That's your choice.

That involve one step more than iphone. Many a time I found the apps is still running in the background when I thought I have already closed them.

And it's simplicity that attracts many to iphone but that is beside the point I am making....the lack of choice to choose Multi-tasking or Single-tasking. If not because of N8s' camera and Maps, I would have jumped ship.

oh btw i procured lenovo n5901 wireless keyboard, hook it up with n8 via USB OTG and it works! can control the menu, type using the keyboard, still figuring on complete control ie changing homescreen and others. no drivers etc nothing, just plug it in and the mouse icon pop up to be controlled via trackball.

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/...?DocID=PD004276

will try upload a video later.

all in all, nice phone indeed. thats what you call a SMARTPHONE.
*
I just hook up N8 to computer via Bluetooth. Then work with Nokia Suite to do whatever I want. Type SMS. Transfer files. Edit Contacts. Don't see the need for this wireless keyboard.

anybody updated to nokia maps 2.0?

Do you mean Version V3.09? If yes, the ability to display photos (those with GPS coordinates) insider Maps is very nice.

Recently my N8 will auto switch-off by itself. Happens about once a day. Any idea?

4. How do I get the latest OFFLINE Nokia Maps?[/b]
Upgrade to the latest Maps 3.09 and you can use your phone to download latest maps/voice directly into your phone using WiFi. There is no need for Nokia Suite etc.

The most useful thing I found on 3.09 is the ability to display geo-tag photo onto maps itself. Press and it navigate you to where that photo was taken.
