Assuming that I am planning for my house renovation. I am just wondering if it is really a mission impossible to get a matching tiles, or 100% the same time for a new house?

Let's assume I do get a similar or perhaps the same tile, the extended area with the newly laid tiles should be looking quite good and blended with the existing one?

It depend age of your house. If new house should able to get, more than 2-3 years maybe with difficult.
Else you may want to think of diffrence design tiles for that particular area if you dont mind....

yup and due to this, its mission impossible, new house or old house, but if u can live with some discrepancies, then its mission possible

To get the same colour shading depends on the following
1) Type of tile
2) Age of tile
3) Batch of the tile

so for those people who extend their houses, they usually get different tiles for the extended portion?

It depend which area,,,
For me I have to hacked out the Kitchen and Leaving room area, but I get different tiles for my 2 bed room + 1 Family area (extended area).
If $$$ is not an issues, than I believed I will hacked all....

Normally u will be able to get the same tiles by asking developer for the tile spec.
If the distributor lack of tiles.. then opt for a slightly lighter colored one.

Use pebble flooring works to compliment your extension (if for car porch)

my extension very easy...

1. extend the wet kitchen to the backyard - need to find the same wall tiles and floor tiles.

2. cover 1 door for the common toilet and the shared toilet in the 2nd/3rd bedroom due to feng shui - need the same wall tiles / floor tiles.

3. hack the living room sliding door entrance and its wall to install solid timber door - need only floor tiles

hope i will not run into troubles or colour mis-matching smile.gif
