Guys just need an input since you guys are already using the SGS2. I rely on push email very often, it is also very important for my phone to retrieve my emails on time and give me notification the moment it reaches my email. Im using GMAIL.

I also have a unlimited data plan tied with my phone number.

So please input on the functionality of the push mail. A small review will be fine. Does it notify you on the spot when an email arrives while being on 3G coverage area. Please take not that im most of time travelling and depending on 3G/HSDPA connection. Forget about WIFI.

Thanks

If this is so critical, get a blackberry

If you wish to Use android, use alternative mail app. I recommend free app k9 mail which has more features. I would say there is no serious bugs
*
Not really a BB fan. Used many BB models before. Still prefer Android. I am using HTC Desire and the push mail works just like a BB. Just wondering if the Galaxy S2 GMAIL app works the same. hmm.gif

I9100G

Doesn’t overheat easily, better battery life.
CPU seems to be capped at 1008 MHz.
Poorer 3D performance.
Can’t download apps / games developed for Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 in Samsung Apps / Android Market.
Fonts in PAPAGO! very small.
Not much custom firmware / modification

I9100

Overheat easily, poor battery life on Android 2.3.3. Android 2.3.5 fixed it.
Fully use 1.2 GHz CPU.
Better 3D performance.
Anti-Aliasing (4xAA and 16xAA) support with Chainfire3D Pro.
Lot of custom firmware, kernel, modification, tweaks…

yes,but my opinion,i wont ever buy ap phone.lol

yes. but if the price RM100-200 difference better go for ori set. AP set very difficult to claim warranty incase the phone gives any issues in the near future.

Anyway, warm welcome to SGSII big family, dude :-)

Good for you. Dont forget download Titanium Backup for apps and do Nandroid back for your firmware :-)
*
Well I very seldom use TB, i manually backup the apps by generating .apk , nandroid later. No plans for custom firmware yet.

Still new to SGSII, im coming from HTC Desire background.

Not enough info to say if your batt is draining normal or not. Speedmod kernel have good battery life.

Added on October 30, 2011, 11:52 am
No need to clear anything when flashing kernel. If you want to just clear cache and dalvik cache. Flashing siyah kernel through cwm already clear these for you.
*
Are you using Speedmod kernel ?
My phone number is tied to a data package which runs 24 hours. Push mail is activated on the GMAIL app.
Whatsapp is running.
That should be it.

Added on October 30, 2011, 12:07 pmGuess ill use it for a day or two and see how it goes. If still same, then will start on custom kernel + cyanogenmod ROM, hahaha

I have used speedmod, ninpo, siyah, etc. before. Speedmod is known for good battery life though the new siyah 2.1 is not that bad either.

Yeah, been reading review on the Siyah. Very famous kernel indeed. Will try out Siyah as it has a better reputation in the market.
