IPod noob here. Planning to get one this weekend but still haven't make up my mind on whether the Nano or Video. Just wanna find out whether is music playback on the 5G Video skip free since it's running on a harddisk unlike the flash memory on the Nano? And also whether is it prompt to failure since it's a moving part cause I'm planning to use it for exercise. Sorry if the question is a bit stupid but hey, as I said, I'm a noob.

Thanks for the info. If you say it isn't skip free, how well does it stand from movements like jogging? Anyway, you are really lucky but your statement there worries me cause your first IPod only live for a year. blink.gif

Nano is like freaking small...which is great but the screen also becomes small  tongue.gif
It's a toss between whether u prefer mobility/smaller size, or dont mind having something bigger and would prefer lotsa more features

For me the 5th gen's size is pretty acceptable, so i'd take it over the Nano
It's even thinner than my Mini  sweat.gif
Yes, I agree to that the size on the 5G IPod is very acceptable. I gotta admit that my first choice was the Nano, but after comparing their specs, the video came into the picture. And also, if comparing in terms of cost and GB sizes, video win hands down although I know that the flash drive on the Nano is certainly better and more pricey. But just afraid that the harddisk on the video is prompt to failure as it has moving mechanism.

phoenix : Nah ..it depends how well....you take care of it
I tried to do gila gila exercise...Dont worry , have you seen the review where iPod Nano was put to the test...Bah , dont worry about falls , etc..It would still rock on biggrin.gif. In this case , I would say go for nano. But if you dont mind the bigger size , go with 5G iPod. If you ask me , if you're getting in Malaysia...The 30GB iPod 5G seems to be worth the $$$$

Yap... That is what I was thinking too. I saw how the Nano was put to the test till it died. But I didn't see any similiar test to the video. If the video can tahan as much as the Nano, sure no need to think twice liao. icon_rolleyes.gif

Are u really expecting to torture your iPod?  sweat.gif
Compared to the Nano indeed it's more fragile, but its not very fragile itself
Its like "nooo...i wanna get a Merc but a tank is tougher"  tongue.gif

Alamak! Merc tank philosophy also keluar. blink.gif Haha... I'm not saying that I'm gonna torture the video should I get one. I'm just worried cause I go to the gym to workout pretty often and therefore involve lots of movement. Scared the HDD in the video gets damage by it mah. Just wanna ask the experts lo. Anyway, it's one more day to IPod purchase day. Nyek nyek nyek... icon_rolleyes.gif

Finally got my iPod. However, I didn't get the video and instead settled for the 4GB white Nano. Anyway, thanks to all who have given me advice. ARIGATO! notworthy.gif

Just register your iPod at the Apple site. The estimated purchased date will be written there.
