PM: MP7 (Best PM gun). Verserk and Kriss is second best or you can go for AKS74U.

RM: M4mk3 (Most reliable rifle man and most used in clan war, easy gun). SG556 is quite good (Crouch+Tap/Burst is basically laser but your moveshot is not as good as when you crouch), better damaged than M4mk3 but M4 is more reliable and m4 ROF makes up for its low damage. FN2000 is noob friendly gun, lots of Thais using it at the moment. HK416 is something similar to m4 but its crosshair bloom is much bigger but still accurate.

Fun RM guns: M14ebr (If you learn to control its recoil and aim headshot, the payoff is huge). SA58para (Not out yet but it is much much better than M14ebr, really high damage and high recoil, is used in Iesf tournament.) Both of these guns can wallbang. G36 is fun and good but you need to head over to IJJI forums to use the Korean mod guide (Beware, you may not like this gun, in IJJI few love it, most hate it).

Sniper: If you're bored of Fr-f2, get TPG (Tag lesser than the rest of the snipers gun). AWM is quite fun but tags alot.

For all new players out there, when you want to buy a gun, choose wisely. And I quote from a clanmate "AVA guns resale value is worse than nokia phones."

As for my preference,
PM: Verserk because can wallbang and the DPS is higher than MP7. MP7 and Kriss are usually the players choice because of the slight recoil and smaller bloom. 3 guns are recommendable, it's up to you. As for shotgun, I prefer using Saiga-12 or Benelli.

RM: I'm using M14EBR for now since Para or Sako is not out yet in A.V.A SEA. I prefer 1 shot kill RM gun. M14EBR has the highest bloom rate after Para, and not to mention the recoil, but once you are used to it, they kill mercilessly! All RM guns can wallbang to certain extent. M4MK3 is usually used by many players including pros because you wouldn't go wrong with the gun because low recoil, small bloom and easy to headshot but with lower dmg than Para, M14EBR etc.

Sniper: Tag rate of snipers are according to this ascending order: TPG1,PGM.338<FR-F2<DSR1,AWM<SV98
Just a few till I have time to write a tl;dr guide on weapons. TPG1 is a wait and kill weapon, suitable for camping. DSR1 is for CQC, it's like now you see me, now you are dead gun. DSR1 doesn't need to shift+shoot, it has quite good moveshot too. FRF2 can also be used in CQC but you must learn how to breakshot, dragshot and etc. Not to mention the 10 ammo upgrade helps in tight situations when you are ganged by more than 4 players.

Do you know there are about 60 weapons in Ava ? Therefore, many more which aren't released will be. And there will be "Capsule Guns"; specially modified weapons with cool paint. These are rare guns that you need to purchase via capsules, that means by chances, you can use premium cash but still through capsules. So, I'm saving my euros. They are hard to earn, don't waste it. It's not a bad idea to save a bundle of cash just for capsule guns so your chances increases. Common capsule price is 3000 euros.

I actually have more than 1 account, not to hack/farm(there's no possible way) but I use it to test the weapons. Since with the 100k, I use my other accounts to test the weapons before actually buying them on my main.
Why did you buy the FrF2 gun ? Doesn't it look a little .. ugly ? haha, well its personally my favourite gun. Good choice I'm prefer 1 shot kill weapons. I use snipers 70% of the time.. So I've found a 1 shot kill pointman, which is shotgun, Saiga12. Other shotguns are remington, Spaz12

yea.. american players just likes to QQ whenever they get beaten by others. the only reason US got 1st in iesf last year is bsc the other countries arent allowed to use guns they usually use in serious gaming(e.g. para, veresk, mp7) and had to resort to using m4a1 which they are unfamiliar with.

downloading is slow even with a 1mbps line..

saiga is a shotgun with ridiculous range. it can 1hko at short-medium range. the recoil is somewhat little compared to other shotguns but it only have 6 shots per magazine. the cool thing is the reload is fast since you use magazine instead of loading each shells individually. overall, its the best shotgun in ava, only rivaled by the spas-15

You sure the info you got is correct? Based on the videos I had between Defkon VS Astrick in last year IeSF, both team used a variety of guns other than M4A1, some were using Sako though. Not to deny in every IeSF there are a few guns that had to be banned because of they are OP plus MMOFPS is a game that test on skills, not weapons. Therefore I don't see weapons as the reason why Astrick lost to Defkon. But I agree American loves to QQ players when they are beaten by others. LOL Some QQ Asian players because of their ping/lag or death more than kills.

i tested veresk on another account but i was so sucked at it >.>

yes, there were other guns but the main rifleman gun in that match is the m4a1. most of astrick members are used to using para and other guns which wasnt released in UAVA at the time. so to make things fair for the americans, the guns which are not released in UAVA is banned. to have them suddenly use weapons they are not familiar with on a major competition is although not the main factor, it is a contributing factor to astrick's lost.

now lets see the americans play on ava sea with them lagging and let them experience the difficulty of playing with 260 ping since they kept QQ-ing bout us having an unfair advantage while lagging on their game.

lol.. veresk has substantial recoil but it makes it up with awesome cqc performance. if you really cant manage it, try the mp7. they both have almost the same rof. though mp7 has lower damage, it has more penentration power than the veresk which makes both guns almost equal. the main difference between the both is the recoil and ammo count. mp7 has no recoil and 40 ammo per clip

No offense but you should watch the whole IeSF 2010 final match. Some of the players were using Sako which is a RM gun. Plus I just read the IeSF 2010 rules, there were no guns banning or limitations. IMO the players used M4A1 because of their low recoil and small bloom so that they wouldn't make any careless mistakes during the tournament, as slight adjustment of crosshair will cost you a kill and you just wouldn't go wrong with M4A1 in a pro player's hand. FYI too, Para was introduced into UAVA in year 2010 if I'm not mistaken.

But sometimes you couldn't blame the Americans too because everyone wants to compete in a fair playing field. Nobody wants to play in a laggy game. Plus lag is our best friend and worst enemy, it helps us to score a kill and be killed by other players due to slow server reaction.

Pretty sure para wasn't allowed in 2010, if it was allowed, both Defkon and Astrick would use it.

Sniper, The Fearsome Marksman

Most of us are familiar with snipers in all FPS games, they are annoying because they can one-shot per kill from afar without confronting the enemy, a kill-stealer, a life-saver for teammates in tight situations and stealthy son of a * =P
For those that just immersed in the world of MMOFPS, there are few prerequisite skills to learn to become an excellent sniper. Let me explain briefly for each of them.

Moveshot: A normal moving shot, in another words mean walking while shooting.
Jumpshot: Hiding behind a barrier and suddenly jumps to shoot your enemy.
Breakshot: While running and suddenly an enemy appears in front of you, quickly press A and D keys simultaneously or Shift key to stop abruptly and shoot the enemy.
Crouchshot: Shoot while crouching down.
Dragshot: For example your crosshair is in the lower left corner, and then an enemy suddenly popped up in the upper right corner, you drag or move your cursor to the enemy in one swift gesture to kill him.
Quick-switch: Once you have fired your shot, you press Q in succession to change back into your sniper to reset the scope or pistol to shoot the incoming enemy.
No-Scoped Shot: Shooting without using the scope

Now it’s the time for simple gun reviews and mod recommendations. *These are the recommendations based on my experience in playing the game since closed beta in year 2009 in UAVA and some other inputs from other veteran/pro players in UAVA. I understand each player has their own preference or opinions, but these basic guides are mainly to help and shed some light for those who are new to this game. Constructive criticisms or discussions are welcomed to improve our play styles.*

TPG-1, The Holy Grail of Sniper
Pros: Very high damage, one-shot per kill frequently, high accuracy, highest range, very low tag rate (even if you hit the limbs in some cases), suitable for camping
Cons: Slower mobility due to the gun’s weight, need to press Shift while shooting, very low stability, extremely poor moveshot, poor jumpshot, slightly slow scoping speed
Common Popular Mod: .338 Lapua Barrel and High Percentage Scope = Maximises damage and more magnification in scoping
Poor’s Man Mod: .338 Lapua Barrel = It’s the same as common popular mod but without the High Percentage Scope
Bulleyes Mod: High Percentage Scope, .338 Lapua Barrel, Accuracy Trigger, Human Engineered Grip, Shock Absorber = Highest accuracy but not much difference between Common Popular Mod and Poor’s Man Mod

FR-F2, The Younger Brother of TPG-1
Pros: High damage, one-shot per kill frequently (FR-F2<TPG-1), tag rate is slightly higher (TPG-1<FR-F2), slightly higher stability, light weight, fast scoping speed, suitable for CQC
Cons: Need to press Shift while shooting, poor moveshot, poor jumpshot
Everyone Favourite’s Mod: Long Ranged Barrel, Exchangeable Ammo Type = Increases your range to increase your chance of one-shot per kill in longer ranges, 10 ammo at your disposal when you are in a tight situation while facing numerous enemies, less reload
Too Poor Mod: No mod at all, can one-shot per kill effectively too at the range of 60-70M
Standard Mod: Long Ranged Barrel = Increases the range to kill in longer ranges, who needs extra ammo?
*For all 3 mods, I didn’t include the scope options because it’s up to each player preference.*
Quick Scope = Suitable for CQC for its one-step fast scope speed
Sharpshooter Scope = It’s the same as default scope in FR-F2 and you don’t need to quickswitch each time you shoot, auto reset the scope

DSR-1, Better Than AWM
Pros: High damage, one-shot per kill frequently (DSR-1<FR-F2<TPG-1), slightly higher tag rate (TPG-1<FR-F2<DSR-1), excellent moveshot, doesn’t need to press Shift while shooting, good jumpshot, light weight, owned in CQC if you rush a lot, fast scoping speed
Cons: Tags considerably if you hit the limbs, 89 accuracy after you mod
Only 1 mod for this weapon, just use Long Ranged Barrel. Don’t use Reinforced Barrel because it increases your tag rate. Yeah, the +3 damage is a bluff based on majority of UAVA players and my experience. Other than that, the grips and stocks do nothing but if you have extra Euro to spend, it’s up to you to add them. As for the scopes, Quick Scope noticeably improves the speed for first-step scoping and Sharpshooter Scope increases the magnification plus slight faster speed from the default ones. It's up to you which scope suits you best.

Weapon's Penetration Rate

Penetration is simply the rate of damage loss as a bullet passes through any solid object. Guns with high penetration lose little damage as their bullets pass through obstacles, while guns with low penetration will rapidly lose damage while passing through obstacles.

Penetration is similar to the range stat. Range determines how much damage is lost as a bullet travels a certain distance. The more range a gun has, the less damage the bullet will lose. Penetration follows the basic principals.

Obstacles that activate the penetration stat could be any of the following:
-Wooden walls
-Window panes
-Glass
-Doors
-Concrete walls
-Concrete barriers

And most importantly:
-People
-Armor

When bullets collide with obstacles, four factors affect how much damage is lost and if the bullet can actually make it through.
1. Initial damage upon impact. Guns with low penetration but high damage will still most likely go through obstacles purely from the fact that they had a lot of damage to start with. Most low-penetration sniper rifles follow this rule and can pass through weak obstacles and corners of walls.

2. Penetration. Guns like the SA58 Para can wallbang concrete and wooden obstacles. These guns have high penetration so they suffer little damage loss as they pass through obstacles.

3. Type of obstacles. Obstacles made of glass, wood, or tin will be easy for most guns to pass through. However, a slab of concrete will only be penetrated by guns with both high penetration and high initial damage.

4. Amount of obstacles penetrated. A bullet from a Veresk may be able to go through corners of concrete walls because the corners are only 6 to 12 inches. However, it cannot go through a whole concrete slab (roughly 2 feet in length) because the bullet loses damage at a linear rate as it passes through more and more solids. Likewise, a thin sheet of tin will be very easy for most low-penetration RM guns to wallbang.


When bullets collide with people, the following aspects are taken into consideration:
1. How much damage did the bullet start with? This one is obvious and does not need to be explained.

2. Where did the bullet hit? If the bullet hit anywhere except for the chest or helmet, the damage is multiplied by the body part multiplier and applied.

3. If the bullet hit the chest, the type of chest armor and the amount of penetration is taken into account.
High penetration guns will lose a lot of damage as they pass through large-caliber armor until the large caliber armor is destroyed, but will pass through anti-charge armor like a hot knife through butter.
Low penetration guns will be unable to pass through large-caliber armor until it is destroyed, and they will lose a considerable percentage of damage as they pass through anti-charge armor.
Therefore, high-penetration guns are effective against large-caliber armor and anti-charge armor, while low penetration guns are moderately effective against large-caliber armor and weak against anti-charge armor.

4. If the bullet hit the helmet, the initial damage and the penetration is taken into account. Higher penetration and higher damage will make it more likely for a bullet to knock the helmet off, while lower damage or lower penetration will make it less likely for the bullet to knock the helmet off.

Disclaimer: Keep in mind that everyone should probably base the ratings with a standard deviation of 0.3. Meaning that based on a pro player's skills add a 0.3 to the ratings and for someone who is an amateur a -0.3. Because in the end, even if the gun is "good" it's all boils down on how good is the player with the gun. Moreover, remember that these ratings are not based entirely on "I love this gun!!!" but rather on how the guns compare to other guns in it's class. A good example, someone may be an expert at using the Galil sniper but when you compare the stats/play styles of the Galil on average users, you may feel that other semi-automatic snipers out classed it. So just because a gun is rated "lower" than others doesn't mean the gun is "bad" or anything, it just means it doesn't compare well with other guns in it's class.

Good job Valerius, guys keep in mind some guns that some already have it are rated lowly because KAVA players tend to vote down OP guns to discourage people from using it as they prefer game balance. The rating for "Excellent guns" are quite accurate, guns in other category can be fun, average, or just plain bad. Make your choice wisely when buying guns, always keep your euros as there are more guns that hasn't been released.

i know there are other guns in that match. im just saying that the M4A1 is the main rifleman guns used and para was not allowed at the time. Skadoodle told me that. yes, para was released in 2010 but it was released after the IeSF. and there is no way to deny that M4A1 has superior accuracy and stability which is why they use it when they are not allowed to use para.

there is a few corrections to your frf2 guide. quickscope doesnt increase the scope speed in any noticeable way. it is faster, but only slightly. sharpshooter scope on the other hand, has a hidden stat. it speeds up the scope speed to almost awm speed. on dsr the quickscope improves the scope speed very noticeably, but not on the frf2. on the frf2, ss is the better choice if you want faster scope speed.

Thanks and I'm going to write some basic reviews of RM and PM guns plus Demolition guide in few days. Kinda busy these few days with my studies. Anyway those lowly rated guns are not OP but you should put it as 'unpopular' for majority of AVA players. Frankly AVA weapons are like Apple's products, based on 'marketing' and positive comments, thus the weapons will become the main selection on everybody mind. For example Para and M14EBR are kinda equal in most aspects, but why majority of players chose Para is simply because a lot of players are using them including those top clans, through positive recommendations in forums and not to forget those beautiful video of frags in Youtube which gave the weapon a 'WOW' factor, thus increases the weapon's popularity. But I couldn't deny that some lowly rated weapons are as good as the highly rated ones, but too bad they didn't get enough attention from players.

Oh, I thought you meant M4A1 is the compulsory weapon for RM in IeSF because there are one or two players that were using Sako. Yeah, and since UAVA released M4MK3, it would be the next choice for players if Para is banned again.

I have done some experiments with my clan mates in UAVA and I felt like Mythbuster AVA style Actually FR-F2 Quickscope does increase the scoping speed, not slightly as you mentioned but maybe slightly slightly, it's kinda difficult to find the exact word to describe it That's why quite a majority of players use FR-F2 in CQC other than DSR-1. Btw since this is a guide based on texts, it's best for the players to judge by themselves in game. I just provide the best possible and simple guide for starters. As for your hidden stats, I'm not sure where did you get your info but I did experiment earlier with my clan mates using stop watch, lol. The Sharpshooter scope increases only slightly the scoping speed by 0.2-0.4ms compared to the default one. It wouldn't be noticeable through naked eyes therefore I put it as almost the same as the default. Of course it falls short of AWM scoping speed. Yeah, as for the DSR-1, I have made some corrections in my guide, added the word 'noticeably'. Thanks for your input.

the quickscope was faster, but not by much. ss is faster than quickscope. you'll notice that once you do alot of qs on the gun. i too used to believe that quickscope is faster but i saw a post on forums that day that said otherwise. so i've decided to try it out and ss is really faster. nvm, i'll dig out that post when im free. hope it wasnt wiped out yet!

say.. how do you measure up to the accuracy of 0.1 milliseconds? try recording the animation and count frame by frame xD...

Actually I measured the 0.2-0.4ms using stop watch, me and my 3 other clan mates each recorded the scoping speed on our own using stop watch, means from no scope to scoping takes how long to complete. We did it separately and averaged it out to minimise any errors. This experiment was for FR-F2 SS and the default one. *Busted*

Thailand is 1 hour slower than malaysia in timezone. Anyway the update is over.

My pc recently had some driver issues, im reformating it to windows XP from win7 ult. complete revert and will boost it before CBT Malaysia starts. Just updated the main page with patch update + review links. Haven't been ingame for 3 days ahaha.

Edit: I'm thinking of a clan name now, if you have any suggestions, pm me, i have the logo already heh. and do you want our clan to be competitive or just social/fun clan.. i dont mind the latter , in fact is a good idea but if you want competitive then its not so much for everyone, only some players but we can still do training for clan wars stuffz... it should be fun and that you try your best, that should be the spirit of the game, putting too much on just winning becomes stressful and you dont enjoy it..

benefits of clan are would be better tips+inside news, invite to friendly games and meeting fellow malaysians from here for gameplay
requirements are simply that you communicate well + in english and you have a good nature on having fun aha.

I also haven't been in game for few days, just an hour ytd for some experiments with guns. Been busy studying for finals. Wow, that was fast that you got a clan logo already, everybody seems hyped up eh=P Will PM you if I thought of any cool unique clan name. I wouldn't mind both, either for scrims or fun pubs, but for now since there are a lot of new players, training to improve and playing for fun are the main priorities right Btw if you were to set up a clan, don't forget the voice comm system, I prefer using TeamSpeak over Mumble and Ventrilo.

DL the client, register in PlayFPS website, then log in using Internet Explorer (Must install ActiveX), then the client will launch for auto patch.

I've tested a few voice communication programs and found that TeamSpeak is pretty good. Ventrillo's Ping is pretty stable but the voice output is pretty bad which you can hear echos, Mumble however is horrible with the ping stability. DC-ed a few times in 1 round of clan battle in SA however the voice output was very clear and accurate. TeamSpeak balance both ping and voice output. So yes I would vote for TeamSpeak also.

Yeah, actually TeamSpeak is the best voice comm software for gaming comm so far. I have been using it in UAVA too. And fyi, TeamSpeak has a server in Thailand, that's why it has balanced ping and voice output. Btw how's your patch? Done or still not moving? Eh, you are also from SA right, grab and intro some of SA players into AVA, make it more interesting and merrier!!!

Basically PlayFPS, PlayPark, PlayID all are under Asiasoft. Asiasoft is the parent company, that's why you can use @Cash to reload.

Andrewtho: maybe its firewall/antivirus. Try disabling them. i always use game mode and all antivirus quitted. im using Ad-Aware(free antivirus), editors choice in pcmag

I've formatted my pc to windows XP twice, but somehow it's slow. i havent updated the drivers though but im resorting to windows 7 32bit

mine before was 64.. 64 is better for RAm but that is if you have about 4GB ram at least. im having only 2 now and 64 bit actually eats more. 32bit will work just fine as i've read.

but tonight i'll be busy, tomorrow CBT starts at 11a.m but i'll be home around 2pm++ yet i have to configure my pc.. from then to evening im free, so probably i'll be ingame.

Hopefully you can resolve your PC problems and meet you in-game tmr. Couldn't wait to check my ping in MY server. I'm wondering too if we could log into MY server using Thai PlayID, but logging into Thai server and then change into MY server, definitely can be done, tried it just now. I haven't gone ingame yet, about to reformat my pc to win7ult 32bit. im lazy to start all over again too.. i have all the snipers ribbon and don't want to waste exp + time for my account, or rank.. i left ijji with 2 sergeant accounts, one having a tpg and the other walther sniper.. so ive started from scratch a few times.. eventhough the walther isn't skyhigh for pro's, its quite sentimental to me.. lol, tempted to buy it for ijji memory sake,

i dont really fancy the kar98k as most of us have better snipers already. its cool in a way here bcuz we sorta get bonuses/events both from malaysia and thai servers lol..whereas the first 2 guns, yeah i got that.. not bad guns, good to keep.. capsule guns usually have a 1 hit kill in lockdown.

and honestly.. 10 days for cbt, i doubt they'll get the sniper lol.. cuz my cbt in thai, i didnt even get the sniper tho i was playing quite regularly and that was 1 month lol.. i'll get teamspeak ready in due time.

im not a developer but i guess only hope is to reinstall everything. there are new download links on the first page, its from their website.. if all hope is gone, maybe i can upload my updated version in zip files.

so only andrewtho and i arent in, after a horde of problems.. well i did get a lot, not entirely on the game, i had so many pc issues.. that i got so irritated with and no idea what to blame.. connection down, installation down, control panel down, USB wireless down, shutdown taking forever.. it was endless.. now im downloading full client.. since the ava that i have can't install properly..

goin at 570+kbps, so quite pleased with that.. but then again, at night im outside.. probably i'll enter ingame after a week late at night..

Edit: Can someone update on the ping, hows the condition of the server ? i just got news, tomorrow morning to afternoon no electric here.. lol ...

Sorry to hear that Darth, hopefully can pubs with you in-game soon. Well, my ping in MY server hovers around 20-40, whereas in TH server it's 60-90. Btw I'm using Streamyx 4MB line. I also want some update on UNIFI player's ping in MY server.

my ign in UAVA is EagleTalon at Lt. 4th Class and i spend most of my time in demo random, cold case or castle rock. i've seen a guy by the name Valerius in UAVA, is that you? im not exactly pro awm user bsc my main was the frf2 before the awm and before that the tpg. i've only been using awm for half a year but im confident i know the gun inside out. para on the other hand has been my main ever since i switched from ebr.

cant play now bsc streamyx is down for no apparent reason. think i'll b missing out the cbt...

ah glad it worked. it did for me, i installed the Full Client... im pleased with the low ping though low number of players but it feels fresh and smooth.. usually i get 1 ping but sometimes 30 to 40.. in thai lowest i get is 30.. usually 40 to 60 - its nice to use my sniper again
finally ingame after 7 days haha..

An hour and 30 minutes to finishing yoooooooo. Can't wait to play.

Played 2 games last night and my ping was around 50 with unifi, quite stable. But I cannot help but notice why my radio command is in Thai? Lol.

isnt 50 still kinda high ? i had 1 ping lol.. which is great.. and didnt u choose english at the beginning of the game ? im trying to fix sound driver problems now, windows says it is fully updated, but actually something is not.. its some spdif thing when i should use the playback to "Speakers" .. doesnt exist.. getting it from realtek now.. been playing with no sound all yesterday lol...

EDIT: I spent hours trying to fix the sound driver.. downloaded so many, even the correct one but said error, not found.. finally worked with windows update .. lol.. thank God for that.. phew .. now suddenly server disconnect

Andrewtho: after the patch we can no longer enter thai server to my disappointment as i have a number of good friends i've made over there.. and theyre good players, now without them our clan would be small
and i would prefer creating something original. after playing ingame..
my verdict is. its a bad idea separating thai

the problem now are foreign players who played in thai but now blocked perhaps, their ping is about 250 - 300 - 700 in msia. and me being 1 ping is quite a turn back of getting killed easier while they warp around the map ..
as a player, this is highly irritating. they should create some ping limits and voting for the opposite, not your own team..


thai and msia are close, some parts of thai are same timezone
removing them now decreases player count. rooms are scarce. singaporean players reported having 200+ ping as well.

Couldn't agree more. The number of MY/SG players are pretty little. I saw only 2 rooms available @ warzone 1 around 1am last night, in SA 1am = server almost max capacity. lol.
