SuperROM is not by juffo, its by superatmos. juffo ROM is by Homam Ageel (aka juffo).

I'm still using SuperROM v1.0 with superatmos kernel v1.1. All is good, so no plans to change.

If my opinion matters to some, I will say I agree with premk71 that the SuperROM v1.0 + superatmos kernel v1.1 combo is the best we've found so far. But do bear in mind, different ppl different definition of "good" battery life.

If you think battery life really matter and stock is better, pls stick with stock.

I have battery packs ready in case of emergency. And I bring spare chargers everywhere I go. smile.gif

FYI, the rooting techniques shown in the first page won't work for the latest stock android ver 2.3.6. It won't work not just on S2 only, but same as other phone.

In XDA forum, there has updated the method known as memory crash method. Using this method, at last, I managed to root my phone.. Here's the xda forum link for the memory crash method

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...9&postcount=428

This method works fine on my SGS2, Android ver 2.3.6, DZKJ2. Now, it's time for me to look for more apps..

TS : I suggest you update the first page to include this method..

Its already known in this thread just that TS is MIA for quite some time already.

If you scroll up to creezalird post, look at his signature:-
"revised PDF guide i9100G (covers from updating to rooting and misc)"

Its the latest guide. Newbie proof.

Side note: Just realize the Xda link pointed to our very own creezalird's method. Do download his pdf guide! thumbup.gif

Which version? Drain faster than what?

If superatmos kernel v1.2 compare to v1.1, yes, it drains faster as it main focus is to balance battery life + performance.

Change Log
v1.2
-Added smartass and interactive governors
-Set default governor to smartass (balance of both battery saving and performance)
-/system/etc/init.d and /etc/init.d support
-custom boot animation and custom boot sound support (Place bootanimation.zip or PowerOn.wav in /sdcard/superatmos folder and reboot )
-fixed minor issues with rooting and su
-support for custom boot scripts

The battery saving combo would be:

superatmos kernel v1.1 + SuperROM v1.1 (do check the Change Log later once XDA is up to understand)

Do bear in mind, alot of standard apps has been removed in SuperROM v1.1. Mostly labelled as bloatware.

If its not there after root, just dl it from Market. It will prompt for update if its out-dated.
Just like any other apps you dled from Market.

Do bear in mind, G version is the latest version. Sooner or later, ppl will buy it. The non-G version has been discontinued and the support will be limited. Ofcoz we still have AndroidDev community.

My point is, why fret if its not broken. ICS is coming soon. You might forgot about all those customs when it happens.
Just take it as a new model. Its still consider bestseller. Among the best Android phone out there.

Using Superkernel 2.0 = battery drain fast. Loss ~ 5% in one hour. Switched back to superkernel 1.1.

My set up is Stock ROM rooted with DoomLord + SuperKernel 1.1 +setcpu + JD = amazing battery life.

Replace same with Superkernel 2.0 , battery drain fast. So for my needs, its battery life, i go back to 1.1

Cheers

How long have you waited to get this review? I just flashed 2.0. So far not much different. Will need to wait like 24-48hrs to get the full view. Will update again tomorrow. wink.gif

Offtopic: Where were u before this bro? When ur internet was ok.

Added on January 4, 2012, 3:41 pmsuperatmos said for better performance, flash kernel v2.0 with SuperROM v2.0. Hmmm... had a problem with SuperROM v2.0, not sure if kernel v2.0 can solve the problem. Funny thing is, whatever he recommended, always not OK for me. LOL.

Oh well... will flash SuperROM v2.0 tomorrow after tested Kernel v2.0 with SuperROM v1.0.

Kernel v1.1 + SuperROM v1.0 was working superbly.

Tried superatmos kernel v2.0 with SuperROM v2.0 for almost half a day now.
My comment; lagged at some apps. Even camera also force closed. Battery life; cant really tell as I was hogging on the fon quite heavily. Ofcoz the batt is draining fast. But I dont think I want to test for another day. Not really in the mood.

So I flashed back to kernel v1.1 and SuperROM v1.0. Good as before. Now I feel tired to try superatmos new updates already. Cuti lah. Wait til all v5.0++, then I try again. But most probably by that time, ICS came out already. LOL.

Nite all!

Have you tried "ICS v1.2 for I9100G stock rom" ??

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423263
*
Its another custom theme based on vertumus ICS theme which is available for SuperROM. We're using that right now.
This so called ICS v1.2 seems to be for Twi-hard fans. Ugh.

All this talk about camera fail, never experience it. Even before rooted/custom ROM. Hmmm...

I only cant view videos on the browser but I seldom watch vid on my phone. So I just forgot about it.

Thanks for your response, but my question is not answered yet still lol..  so do i have to wipe data or just wipe cache and dalvik for flashing theme?
*
What I did so many times already... after flashing SuperROM, I immediately flash the ICS theme. It does went bonkers at times but I just did wipe dalvik cache and reboot, its working after that.

May i know how often do you use the camera?really never once fail?

Yes never happened. I always take pictures when I feel like taking... at least once a day.
Sometimes I will use FXCamera or Paper Camera; these two hangs sometimes. Thats why seldom use.

sounds like a driver issue..try re-install the drivers or try another usb port see if its ok.

Added on June 4, 2012, 10:27 am

a lot of those facing problem mostly i think due to either not performing a data wipe, or missing a step. cause seriously a lot of us who are not facing much probs ( other than the highlighted in FAQ) , now its already under nightly build which means it is pretty stable.

from the time the experimental was released i have been on it. and i cant imagine not having it. batt life is great. the available settings, themes, etc is great.

in the even you do decide to get cm9. please:

1.Full Wipe/factory setting
2.Wipe cache/clear dalvik
3.Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
4.Boot into Recovery
5.Flash CM9 zip from internal SDCard
6.Flash GApps zip from internal SDCard
7.DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
8.Reboot

try to avoid using batch TB install. make sure only restore APPS and not system stuff. if possible avoid restore completely. some ppl face issues restoring certain apps some dont. so its up to you if you wanna try. i personally didnt. i started from scratch.
*
Nais. Thanks for the advice! I guess I'll make the plunge later when I'm free. I wont be missing alot since I just flashed to ICS stock. Pretty much empty right now. wink.gif
