Latest KL3, seems no root method available at the moment, from what i read here, doomlord's method do not work.
Actually, i woould be interrest to flash stock rom/kernel I9100GXEFKL3
For the main reason that i am french, and i live in China with a chinese phone.
I might be able to look on how the doomlord method behave on that rom, if i can be assured than flashing my non multi-CSC chinese i9100g can be flashed with that one, i have doubts about that ...

A lot of movements in I9100G world, I9100G is progressively replacing the standard i9100 in europe, got echoes from France and Germany so far ...

For the questions about battery usage, i was able to make a 2 days trip surfing a litle, playing a bit, and still have battery left without recharging.
I'm still on CKI1 stock rom.
You guys want root in order to do what ?
For me it was google as mentionned before, since back then no i9100g stock rom had it ...
But now that Europe is getting it too, i'm looking forward to change my rom from chinese to european one ...

I'll wait for an answer on my part before changing rom and by the same way CSC, but i guess that you can try a downgrade with odin, flash an older rom, root it, install CWM and then do whatever you want if you're in a rush to root it ...
Creezalird and i waited a long time to find a way to root CKI1 ...

A bit of a warning too, latest firmware seems to have a lot of bugs, that's what i read on chinese forums ( google translate is a really good friend tongue.gif)

You might also wait ICS to be released, which should be next month, especially with i9100g being spreaded in Europe, Samsung can't play with laws there, they will be forced to hurry a release in the same time, or they could have some legal troubles, since it's being sold as an i9100 ...

I will insist on the fact that when the method to root were still to be found, we had no working solution to root except flashing a rooted kernel, rooting the very latest rom, if it really add nothing new for you, i don't get the point ...

I never did it myself, the procedure is something like that, but i prefer that someone with experience answers clearly ...

And i'm kind of giving up on adding google calendar account, seems quite hard to add, why the hell is google hated that much in China ...sad.gif

Nice answer Creezalird, i wouldn't mind using chinese online sync for my calendar, if it would support english lol, but when the global chinese qq network doesn't even exist online in english, only a pc outdated online client, well, that's not the best solution i know for foreigners ... Looks like i'm stuck with local calendar unless loading french i9100g rom, and i'll wait ICS to do that, so far everything else is working quite well and samsung is kinda generous with chinese clients on the chinese samsung app store, since it's the only official way to get apps when you're stock rom without other stores tongue.gif
For those in asian regions with blocked modern combat 3 download, i managed to download the data by using a vpn ... Modern Combat 3 is free with samsung apps tongue.gif

Another information i can give you, chinese android forums seems a little bit late on roms, and they mainly use xda posted kernels to root.
Another point is I9100 v2 which apparently is our i9100g has been officially announced in Europe.

I have a question, do some of you have troubles with stock music player ?
I'm really having troubles with it, no crash, but sometimes it makes some noice while playing music, i expect the problem to be tied to the proximity sensor bug ( red light ) but unsure ...

Ok I have a problem now after attempting to flash with a custom rom..

Now my phone stuck at the Samsung GALAXY SII screen and never move from there.
I can't enter CWM mode or Recovery mode...
any advise?

Looks like my phone is bricked.. I was told that CheckROM RevoHD™ V6 only for GT-19100.

Anyone have any idea that USB Jig will be able to help in my case?

When I press Volume Button UP + Home + Power, it will turn off the phone and never turn back on. When I release the Volume Button Up + Home, it turned back on and stuck at the screen again.

In fact I can't even power off my phone.. When I power off it, it will auto restart and stuck at the screen again..

Thanks,
*
As it was told before, only a few custom roms are available for I9100G, any rom for I9100 will result in a ( temporary most of the time) bricked phone, NEVER EVER FLASH AN I9100 ROM on your I9100G, if you read this thread, lots of answers were given when that happen, you should be able to restore your phone without too much troubles.

Malaysian rom does have stock google services ?

Creezalird, correct me if i'm wrong, but with those new unrootable roms, i think that a downgrade with an install of cwm could allow to install any custom rom / stock rom without the actual need of rooting once it's done ? With a fully working stock rom / custom rom, i see less and less the bemefit from a permanent root ...
Not saying that for me, but rather to give some advices to newcommers with some newer roms ...

yeah, kind of actually, as long as u have CWM, it is easier.

but some people prefer to have only rooted stock rom, not custom rom, and stock rom can not be flashed using CWM, it is only Odin or Kies flashable.

but if u read around, mobile odin from chainfire is supporting i9100G right now, so we can flash any stock rom from inside the phone and if u paid for the pro version, we can even automatically root the rom during flashing and this is all without introducing any void of warranty..cool right..
*
Really interresting.
The only thing that truely keeps me away from CWM is the difficulty to uninstall it, i don't want to have anything non stock on this part of the phone that i can't remove, that's why i never tried custom rom.

And well, i like touchwiz, might sound dumb, but that's true, i tried go laucher, i tried a few themes, but i really like touchwiz ...

I'm currently looking for backup solutions, want to save everything, apps, messages etc ... but i don't want to be tied to an app for that, if you have any clue how it is organised, i'm a bit lost in the structure ...

Ok Creezalird, i wait your feedback on mobile odin with german rom, might be the good solution for me.
As well as titanium backup pro, my main problem is my current lack of ways to pay for ( sounds weird, but unfortunately true at the moment). I tried other ways to get it, but unstable, that's why i do not use it atm ...

I have S2 "G" version. I am looking for a Android file explorer that allow me to access network shared folder in my PC through WiFi, can help to recommend?
*
What OS are you running on your pc ? Windows ( which one ? XP/Vista/7) or Linux ?
As far as i can tell, Es file explorer is one of the best i know, and is the one i use, although i didn't try Windows file sharing with it, you can add a samba file server in Es file explorer and scan seems to be supported.
For your information, in case you do not know, samba is the open source version of windows file sharing for Linux, a pc running Linux would rather searsh for an nfs file sharing.

I just tried to access my pc through wifi using Es file explorer, works like a charm smile.gif

Oh Creezalird, i tried Google Music, really simple indeed, the gui is nice, thanks for the advice dude !
By the way, i'm looking for a really efficient way to tagg my mp3, tired of having albums splitted on my phone.
I'm trying Itag for android, but it's only half good so far ... A lot of mistakes sad.gif

just flashed LA1 using Mobile Odin Pro with Everroot.

and so far so good, no hang or what so ever, but maybe because I have removed all useless apps..lols

currently running it stock and just rooted per Everrroot. easy, much easier than doomlord, just u need to be rooted at first. thats all.

lack ways to pay?? u meant u could not pay for the apps? well, there is xxx-ed version..lols

so LA1, i will be sticking with this rom, the kernel seems to be clocking almost at 800mhz all the time, but without introducing lagginess to interface and also to my game. I assumed battery life will be much great with this kernel.

u should try it, just use Mobile Odin Pro. easy. Pro, not Lite version. as Lite doesnt support Everroot

Added on February 25, 2012, 1:01 am

regarding the tag, i am also searching one before, but gave up, just use the pc version. much easier

i use mp3 tag&rename.
*
Well i finally got a Titanium Backup pro running, your feedback seems quite good on KL1, i have to check what version is available for france, i'd rather use a rom which is in my native language than german tongue.gif

Oh and i just read on description, your phone MUST BE ROOTED BEFORE YOU INSTALL MOBILE ODIN PRO.
Sorry for caps and color, but this way further asks might be avoided ...
So first root with doomlord method, then install mobile odin pro with everroot, then flash with mobile odin pro
.

It's only logic, but so many people rush without reading (i love the oldie RTFM) then complain that i think a quick reminder is needed tongue.gif

This should be one of the largest existing community on I9100G, i grab a lot of informations from there, i use google to translate it, and you must take in account that translation is not perfect, but enough to get informations when you need it ... Native language being chinese ...
I posted this link before, but thread is growing fast, so a reminder can be usefull ...

I didn't try the european rom yet for the reason that the gps software installed in china is specific to china and i don't want to lose it, any risk in the update to lose it ? In case of update/wipe those stock country side software get reinstalled when you revert update ?

The gps installed is a dedicated samsung app, app itself can be turned to english, map is in chinese, and it's a car gps like tomtom gps in europe ... So quite good indeed ...
I'll give a try to papago.
I guess that since my account sor samsung apps is chinese as well, maybe can try to do the switch. Have to find a few hours free to do the backup and everything.
Congratulations on your marriage Creezalird, i'm also married, but i have a 1 year old kid too, free time ? Can you remind me the meaning ? tongue.gif
And thanks for your answer by the way !
I'm the kind of guy to check/verify things a hundred times before making such changes tongue.gif
I'll double check this week on chinese forums to see what they say on that, there is a litle chance that the software might only be installed in factory, but not available on rom, that's why i was asking ...
Oh by the way, i tried something this evening, and it appears that it's nearly impossible to do, bluetooth modem doesn't work, apparently, Samsung don't give working drivers for that.

and who the hell asked u to flash the insecure kernel? of course u have that yellow triangle, because insecure kernel is not signed from samsung.

if u are using i9100g, follow my pdf guide in my signature, the first page guide is outdated.

Added on February 27, 2012, 4:50 pm

i cant really recommend one, but some stable like superatmos 2.1 or even lucifr 1.22(i think), but safe case, use superatmos 2.1, tested and reliable so far.

and dont use KJ2, it is outdated, people nowadays are swearing with the german rom LA1.

see my guide as i updated it recently, with a cover page even..losl

Added on February 27, 2012, 4:51 pm
what did u tried? u didnt mentioned it clearly?
anyway, flashing rom is actually a very safe procedure considering u read and folliow my guide properly smile.gif

I tried a simple pairing, but windows won't find the driver, i googled on that, problem appears to be old and unsolved. No bluetooth modem or sync through kies under Windows 7 64.

i dont think we can yet sync through bluetooth, and i wonder, u use kies? lols, i installed mine only to get the driver support, never once run the app..lols..prefer copy paste everything..
*
At the begining i used kies to transfert my phone contacts from my iphone to the galaxy s2.
I don't use it anymore, i sync my contacts with google.
Truth is an android phone don't need a computer at all, except for backups.
I tried the bluetooth connection within Kies, i was just curious to see it running, it doesn't ...
And tethering with bluetooth fail aswell, no bluetooth modem available, bluetooth networking, same result. Only thing you can do is.send or receive files.

I would like to add something that apparently no one think about and it's because of this reasoning that i found the trick about memory usage for the doomlord method. Before complaining about battery drain, you guys should take a look at your standard use memory usage, each widget launch a background process that eats memory, and this can go quite high, for now i'm still running zcki1, okd stock rom, but i keep my phone under control, only a few usefull widgets, and i try to keep a memory usage under 400mb. The more memory it uses, the less battery will last.
I tried some memory managers, but gingerbread memory management doesn't really need those, i simply kill process that i do not beed when i start the phone. This way i am able to stay up to 2 days without the need to recharge. Creezalird and other experienced guys might confirm, but i am really doubtfull that a different kernel changes anything on that, in my opinion, everything on battery life is tied to what process you actually do run ... Different kernel can change the way memory manager handles process memory usage, but not how many process you run. That's just my 2 cents, but i feel that's kind of wrong to put the fault on a kernel for a battery "drain".

For those looking forward to know about chinese support, display shouldn't be a problem, as for menu language support, mine is still chinese rom atm, if you need it and know what files to copy, i'll share it to you.
I also need chinese support, my wife being chinese and she can't read english very well ...
Oh and for the chinese input, no one that i know here use stock input to write in chinese, i can't tell you the name because i can't read chinese, but it's really easy to add a chinese keyboard on android (with pinyin support, i don't know about handwriting, lots of people also use that one).
Only the gui part would be missing on the german rom, but that's actually and unfortunately an issue for me, i need to search for solution, gonna google a while, i'll come back if i have results ...

This "might" be a solution to add more locale for the menu, but last update is kinda old, might be other apps able to do the same, i'll look later this week if i can find others ...
