More likely a bad integration of the browser into the rom, tried changing browser ? I personnally use Dolphin HD browser which is excellent !

So Creezalird, no idea about the fact that Galaxy Nexus and i9100G are very similar ?
I really don't know where to find this kind of information, chinese forums are stuck on flashing kernel for rooting, and in XDA no one seems to have an idea, nearly no mention of I9100g on cyanogenmod, not really surprising, and MIUI chinese forum says all dev on ICS.
Fact is Nexus already on ICS, that's why i ask ... And there are some custom roms too ...

Ok i found someone on XDA who tried, but failed so far ...

This device has a BIG chance to get ICS I think so.
The omap 4430 is the little brother of the omap 4460, that soc is in galaxy nexus. It only seems I cant compile the kernel
There are some syntax errors in the code, so if someone knows the solution, please PM me.

I didn't mean that it would be interesting for unofficial release, but rather for custom roms tongue.gif

Good job on the guide Creezalird, everything's inside i think.
Still no 2.36 here through Kies in China and i don't like the Odin way, but i'm kinda happy with my phone atm, and waiting ICS.

I actually think we need another thread for other topics related to I9100G, things are going a lot too much off-topic because the lack of a dedicated thread.

Those looking for a way to run GTA III, the only way i found was to rename the audio folder from audio to some random name like audios, which basically disable the sounds.
So far, i didn't found how to have sounds :'(
But at least the game is playable.

I'm currently downloading the standard I9100 files to use it's audio files to see whether or not I9100G has the audio part from I9100 or not, powervr audio files do not work at all, and game freeze at the first dialog.
I'll keep you informed if this trick can work, but i have some doubts ... I don't know where the change is made in the files regarding different hardware ...

Also, using the samsung apps from the french store, the need for speed for galaxy s2 runs out of the box, and it's free on that store tongue.gif

Ok, despite my try, nothing seems to be able to make GTA run with sound on I9100G, need a possible update from Rockstar on that, not much information right now ...

I think i said it in a previous post, to make GTA run, in the data folder, rename the audio folder to audios for example, that just disable the sound on the game, and then well, i'm able to play normally, but without sound ...
I can not give link for the game itself, but it's the powervr version you need to have, the apk file is generic, the data should be powervr.
Our phone is not the only one to have that problem, and Rockstar already announced they are working on an update, hopefully will include the sound fix.
From what i saw in the logs, it's the audiopolicymanager that simply fails to handle the sounds ...

Oh and since our phone is really near in hardware to the galaxy nexus (slight faster cpu on nexus), most of the games made for that phone should run on our phone.
The difference on GTA 3 at the moment, is no ICS for us hahaha, the sound management must be a little bit different and it's enough to make it work on ICS Galaxy Nexus.
That why i don't really worry for our phone, because most of apps should run without too much troubles.
I don't really care about custom roms by the moment my phone is pleasant to use and handle, and runs well everything, still running 2.3.5 official Chinese rom, only rooted to install google services.

Something i don't know, is how the binaries and the config files are handled on android, didn't really have time to look either ^^'

Mmm, i don't want to create confusion, I9100G is not Galaxy Nexus, i wouldn't try to flash my phone with a nexus firmware for example, i only meant that apps should be the same for both devices.

Unless you buy it on the market, i can not share this kind of link, and for my part i found it on a chinese forum ... I guess by tomorrow you'll be able to find it quite easily on underground sources ...

I wanted to give a personnal feedback on my current settings, because i think it might help others to have a nice useable config.
For the record, i'm a french guy living in China for almost 2 years. I bought an I9100g thinking i was buying an I9100, but the original one has completely disappeared from china on regular Channels.
Knowing it's a chinese android, absolutely no stock presence of google services, that's why i firstly got interrested into getting root to be able to use android market and google maps. And my need for root ended there.
Some like touchwizz, some don't, personnaly, i'm happy with it, fluid, fast, efficient, enough eye candy and they are indeed usefull eye candies, even on computer i hate useless eye candies. I gave a try to the go launcher, but the need to have dedicated widget, i really got lazy, and i actually don't like the look.
Finding apps for various needs is easy as hell, basically changed my life compared to my iphone's life.
One thing that was really bugging me were the chinese software included. I can't read chinese, so completely useless and really taking ram and space for nothing. Here i saw many people talking about titanium backup to freeze apps, but it's not free and underground version is unsafe imho. I've just discovered antek app manager that works perfectly for freezing apps. I'm now around 300MB usage ram on cold start, with gallery widget, double clock widget, yahoo weather widget.
I'm around 2 days of battery life without playing games, but playing some music, surfing a little and doing some phone calls, standard usage i would say ...
So what can i add ? I'm unhappy with the stock music player, i have some glitches in the sound, still looking for a nice replacement. But that's it, that's why i don't really want to try the current custom rom/kernel, because i really don't see what it could brings more ...
I did a mistake at the beginning, installing a task manager, on gingerbread, it's a bad idea, my phone runs better without, and you can't really control apps unless you freeze them or kill the crashed apps.

I had some random results with the gps, one funny thing is the gps chip seems to activate after all other sensors gave informations, i was able to fix quite fast by cutting the network and reactivating after it fixed for accuracy.

That's about it for now smile.gif

Hello there ! Happy new year !

I'm coming back to you because i wanted to give you a feedback on games on I9100G.
As our device is quite recent and not worldwide distributed, unfortunately, it is officially unsupported for most games, which is stupid, and ... untrue !
So far i've been able to run without a glitch a lot of gameloft games, as well a one from ea.

Eternal Legacy, working like a charm.
Asphalt 6, working like a charm.
GTA III, working like a charm (although sometimes some lagg in the radio management)
Need for speed hot pursuit, samsung apps let you install it, so no big surprise.
The sims 3, working altough i had a hard time finding a working version, and unsure working in HD or not 1.0.6 installed
Dungeon Hunter II, running perfectly.
Assassin's creed, running perfectly
Samurai II : Vengeance, running perfectly.

I'm working at seeing if i can run GT Racing at the moment, will post the results.
EDIT : GT Racing motor academy confirmed running, have to close the wireless connection for it to run though ...

Only problem, is with their stupid database not having our phone, most of it is not legit :'(

Trick i use to make them work is to try the Galaxy S files instead of SII when higher def files for powervr hasn't been released, and it's fully compatible.

I also had minor bugs on Asphalt 6 and exchanged my version with one from the chinese android forum to remove those bugs (mainly graphic glitches) and the game is running just perfect, actually, from the version i had before, a lot more pleasant in term of graphics.

Oh i forgot to tell you that, i tend to run all games in native mode, so none of the games i reported running are using compatibility mode or chainfire 3D (didn't even installed that one)

Unless rooting Galaxy Nexus is completely different from rooting I9100G, i guess that it's already possible since galaxy nexus has been rooted ...

As i had some questions, i thought that this kind of information should be shared.
As i said before, I9100G is the only galaxy sii remaining version in mainland China.
That's why my first source of information is their most popular android forum.
http://bbs.gfan.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=712&sortid=&page=1
They even have a dedicated I9100g/I9108 forum at the contrary of XDA who seems to just ignore us.
ICS has been confirmed for all Galaxy SII versions by Samsung's UK twitter, so no worry.

And for information, i am not chinese, and i can't read chinese, so i can't do more that use google to translate,

Just to tell you that I9100G is now being delivered in Europe instead of the I9100, looks like finally our phone is going to get some love, more machines available means more dev to be interrested in ...

i just modded mine directly to the phone, so it will not be distributable unfortunately.

Most of the changes are almost the same with other custom rom too.

something like adding init.d scripts for perfomance, build.prop tweaks, gps.conf mod, some UI enhancements like power menu, new transitions effect, removed bloated apps.

most of the mod have their guide in xda forum
*
Hey Creezalird, do you mind sharing your build.prop ? This is something i have been after to avoid compatibility problems, but i kinda have some difficulties finding the good settings, and afraid to break something to be honest, so a build.prop from someone experienced like you could be a great addition to what we can do with our phone ...

sure, why not, but i am not modding build.prop, i am modding into local.prop, much cleaner, so my build.prop remains to be original.

i will upload that tonight, currently still at the office. but honestly it is not really much, just normal tweaks from reading out blogs and threads. but sure u can make it as reference.

Added on February 15, 2012, 5:25 pm

here u go the local.prop, it goes into /data

Thanks for sharing, i have been reading it, a few interresting things.
I was hoping that maybe you faked the id of the phone using the build.prop, but not, not that it is really needed, but it might be usefull when our phone gets updated to ICS, sharing a similar hardware to Galaxy Nexus, that may help us copying the build.prop id in that case ...

Although this post might seem confused, all the crap around i9100g makes our phone difficult to be correctly identified by android/samsung app market, and faking a Galaxy Nexus might help getting rid of those troubles ...

ic, u are still in full mode ICS right..haha..i am just contented with what i have right now and waiting properly..lols

Not really full mode ICS, just would like to have everything running fine, not far from it, i'm not really happy with the sound app, music isn't always played correctly, i get random noise actually.
I use winamp as a replacement, but i don't like it haha.
I'm hoping for some improvement with ics release, that's it.
Since i'm still with the official 2.3.5 chinese stock rom, i wait for official release.

Ok, for once i have a dumb question, that maybe some of you have already answered ...
As some may know, my I9100G is Chinese, official rooted stock rom, and as is, no google services installed, that was the purpose of me rooting it, but i forgot something, and i have some difficulties finding the good answer. Can we put google calendar with calendar sync, where to get it, and how to install it ? In advance, thank you.
