Finally I solved my Viber hanging issue by clearing the app data, now I can call and no hang. biggrin.gif
*
yeah, at last, forgot to say, actually sometimes app need to be clear for data first especially if u restored it from TBP, but usually not needed, but if behave not properly, then clear data is a way to go beside clear cache/dalvik/fix permission

guys i dont know what i did but im worried man.

i wanted to flash another modem. so did some checking and wanted to try out KG5 and NEKF2.

so the isntructions say just copy into sd card, flash to recovery mode via cwm, install zip file from sd.

after doing so, my phone has no reception and keeps asking to insert sim card. whats going on bro?

Added on March 8, 2012, 12:19 ami noticed there is a efsbackup.tar.gz zip in my sd
*
it is a zip file? or zip file with a tar inside? try check the zip file now.
if tar, it should be flash using odin

but if u done everything correctly, try flash again, and clear cache and dalvik this time before rebooting

Hi guys,

i have a i9100g, bought it last year, now with DXKL3 firmware. I tried to root it using the zerberg method, first method, but failed. i flashed my sgs2 down to DXKJ2 firmware using odin and tried the method again, but still failed to root. i downloaded the firmware from sammobile.

Now, i'm thinking to try the second method. but the link is not working for downloading dxki1.

since i have dxkl3.. so called latest firmware, can i skip straight to flashing to insecure kernel zckh4? .. do i still need to include the pit file when flashing zckh4>

i also found original kernel for dxkl3. so, after flashing zckh4, can i flash this dxkl3 kernel to remove the triangle?

Thank you... i'm new in rooting. Hope to get some help.... thanks again.

its a zip file bro, i checked before doing it. inside has like a folder with bin something like that.

this is exactly what i did.

download the file

reboot recovery

install from sd card

reboot.

bang ! insert sim card. no imei, no network etc.

bro im freking out man.

i do have a zip file in the SD card efsbackup.tar.gz
*
i never try myself to restore the efs myself, but it depends maybe on what app u used for making the backup.
If u use ktool for example, try restore the efs backup using ktool. hopefully u will get back the imei at least.

but why actually u want to change modem? T_T. I never think it will affect much on perfomance or usage

Hi. New to the forum and i appreciate the quick user input. I had a galaxy note but exchanged it for a SII as i was transitioning from an iPhone. Android very versatile which needs root.

Cant seem to find root for i9100G on 2.3.6 with GINGERBREAD.XXKL5.

I just want simple root to get titanium backup pro and tools like SET CPU.

Please outline any existing post or method. Simpler is best as i dont have much knowledge for rooting.

Thanks
*
easiest just flash any rooted kernel (example superatmos kernel) using Odin. but will introduce yellow triangle and binary counter increased, fix only with usb jig and old bootloader.

see my guide in signature

Thank you sooo much. I will read through and try it out.

Thanks again.

I've managed to root. i'm on dzkl2. But i have the triangle at the boot screen.

Do u know where to get a original dzkl2 kernel to flash? so that i can remove the triangle? i tried googling but cannot find.

also, to flash kernal, i do the same thing, choosing PDA in odin, right?

Thanks and sorry for the stupid question.
*
it is not a must the same stock kernel, as long as it is stock, it is sufficient

yes with PDA, no PIT, and the file must be in tar format.

if u read through, u will know what to do as i guide line per line in my pdf guide. even all advantages and disadvantages too.

i tried using the sII repair tool. didnt work.

i tried HK tool.

i reflashed another modem, same thing happened.

nope havent tried flashing stock back. so just flash stock firmware via odin and see how that goes from therE?
*
tried flashing stock with odin? in theory it should work, but IMEI must be restored using ktool or whatever efs backup app u used before.

Thanks Creezalird! that was quick and a great guide.
What if i dont have access to a usb jig?

Sorry for noob question sad.gif
*
if u read the great guide line per line, u will know what to do as long as u can understand english ofc tongue.gif

1)Upgrade or downgrade if version not rootable by doomlord (using Odin to update/downgrade)
2)Root it using doomlord plus memory crash method
3)Backup EFS
4)Install mobile odin pro and flash the latest rom available with Everroot support, wipe is recommended
5)Done

Thanks so much for the reply. You're da best!

oh by the way, if i'm getting the jig to reset the binary counter, then i can skip the steps fixing the yellow triangle, right?
*
usb jig will fix both, yellow and binary problem. but only on old bootloader (example KJ2 and lower), if u are on newer firmware, u need to downgrade the bootloader first and after that usb jig will work again. All in my guide.

anyway bro ur a freaking genius man.

dont know why i didnt think of this, but yeah, flashing the stock formware XXLA1 brought my phone back to normal. with imei number, signal network etc etc etc.

from there, i wiped my phone, wiped cache, flash superatmos 3.0, reboot recovery, clear dalvik.

now setting up my phone from scratch again, without restores etc. just like new. im staying away from any modem flashes for now, i still dont kjnow what caused this bro. im super paranoid now
*
actually modem or bootloader can caused major havoc, so better to avoid it for the moment, wonder why i am not having any problem with default modem that comes with the stock rom smile.gif lucky me then

Thanks Kldoc. i appreciate the clarification.
My fone is apparently french based but i am a world away..next to you actually in Pakistan.

The nearest usb jigs are in China smile.gif

Now updated to 2.3.6 with GINGERBREAD.XXLB1 and will follow the tutorial once I understand what to do. I hope I wont be held accountable for saying Jailbreaking is easier ....
*
if u were from the 1g era of iphone/ipod, jailbreaking at that time is not as easy as current jailbreaking. right now even baby can do it..lols.. and i prefer somethings harder, much less boring tongue.gif

Creezalird, it's not the first time that i read people having troubles to root once they downgrade, do you think it's also needed to flash old bootloader (not included in stock rom ?) ? Unsure about that ...
i am not very sure myself, but in every stock rom, should be consist of bootloader (sbl.bin).

but if somehow odin skipped the bootloader flashing as it checked the current version in the phone is updated than what is in the rom file, this is one possibility.

if somehow the usb jig does not work, u can easily flash the old bootloader. smile.gif

Well we do think the same, i was actually thinking the downgrade don't downgrade the bootloader, but didn't test it, so it's just our thought ^^
Need more guys feedback to be sure ...
Oh can you answer this one, the wipe data do wipe the /sdcard folder ?
*
no
wipe data or factory reset, only delete the data and system partition, not sdcard partition
but if from factory reset menu, u tick the wipe sdcard, of couse sdcard will be deleted

this is just theory, if u download the stock rom for nexus and flash it again using odin, it should be working again.

Thanks for your answer Creezalird, i didn't think it would be that easy to actually backup things, sdcard being untouched, only apps needs to be saved, indeed really easy, feel more comfortable smile.gif
I'll try to wait for ICS, but looks like i'm going to flash my g next week end whatever happen !
*
yep,if u knew ur way around, it is actually very easy, if u are experienced already, in about one-two hours, u will have the phone just look like before u flashed a new rom..lols

hi creezalird,

after rooting, if i update my firmware through OTA or KIES to, eg, ICS, will i lose my rooting?

Thanks.
*
if u update to stock through whatever normal means, it will be unrooted again.
so far u can use mobile odin pro to root a stock rom during flashing, however some people are reporting that it wont work for ICS 4.0.3 and above maybe, i am not really sure.
