should i get new hard drive for time machine backup..?

yes. a 3.5" external 1TB hdd right now is just about rm200. im sure whatever u will have on ur mac will be more valuable than that

oh ya, forgot about the price hike. so how much is a 1tb 3.5" ext HDD nowadays? i guess still less than rm300?

grizzlyaddam may i ask what exactly are you going to upgrade? if it's the hard drive, adding rm300 for just a 250gb increase is really not worth it. not to mention it will prolong the shipment, and it's something u can DIY for much cheaper and faster. i'd say just get the stock model, no point getting a customised mbp 13". 15" different story lah

for about rm300, i would get a 1tb external 3.5" drive for time machine and file storage purposes. u end up with total 1.5tb storage, double than that 750gb.

another option is to spend ~rm130 for 8gb ram, and save up until u can afford the applecare protection plan (rm800)

how many space does the time machine back up need?
i'm new to mac too.. >"<

also, im going to get palmguard for my mbp.
is it necessary to get one for trackpad?
the trackGuard will not affect the performance of the multitouch on the tracpad right? hmm.gif
*
u mean u're getting the moshi palmguard? it comes with trackguard as well, no need to buy smile.gif the texture is rougher, but i like...more grip tongue.gif doesnt effect the performance at all

personally i think the palmguard is a good buy. i've been using it since 2008. just be careful when u apply, dont fold too much. later it will have this ugly white crease

QUOTE(KKW @ Nov 13 2011, 09:22 AM)
Somewhere around that price.
Applecare protection plan RM 800 only?
Drop already ar?
*
yeap price drop smile.gif rm800 for mbp13" la

IINM the minimum used to be 1.3x the internal hard drive, but i suspect it's no longer that way

easy answer? up to you. obviously it has to be at least as big as how much do you want to back up. u dont have to backup everything, u can select what NOT to backup. i excluded my Downloads and Movies folders since they're huge and not that important.

the bigger the drive, the further back in time you can travel tongue.gif

*
yes just use, can use while charging. it's already 2011 tongue.gif even if u're too lazy to read the manual, i highly suggest u read this ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/176422...hreadID=1764220 ). im tired of seeing so many new mac owners ask about battery care

QUOTE(orangutan @ Nov 17 2011, 03:43 PM)
How do i confirm whether the screen is Anti-glare or Glossy?
*
black glass bezel is glossy, silver aluminium bezel is antiglare.

antiglare one have to customize bro. u need to specifically say u want antiglare and pay extra. if u did it, i doubt u forgot it. if u didnt, no chance u have antiglare

vmware more convenient

if u dont need it too often, maybe u should put the windows virtual machine on an external HDD to save space on ur MBA

VMware is just an app. using vmware u need to create a virtual machine file (extension .vmwarevm) for windows. this file is going to be huge, my winxp pro 32-bit virtual machine file is 17gb.

so u can save space by saving this .vmware in an external drive. when u wanna use, just plug in ur ext hdd and open that file

speed would be slow of course tongue.gif
